  1. Discussion thread: Fallout4Prefs INI Guide by STEP Wiki Link This thread is for discussion and improvement of the Fallout4Prefs INI Guide on the wiki.
  2. Updated OP to 1.4 patch. Here's what's changed since the 1.3 patch: Fallout.ini [Archive] bAutoloadTESFileArchives=1 sDLCArchiveNameSuffix=Main.ba2 ;These lines were added to load DLC [bethesda.net] sBethesdaAccountKey was removed. sBethesdaAccountURL was removed. sBethesdaNetURL was removed. sBethesdaSecretKey was removed. sHydraStudioKey was removed. sHydraStudioURL was removed. sAccountsURL=https://sandbox-dev-account.cf.amok.systems sBethesdaBeamKey=RohZYaAspBkWz47NJGNUe6qpmhQQBQkrvKa3u68anT2jzy0J2oebMRj6eeOx2j2R sModsURL=https://mods-develop.web.amok.systems ;Bethesda is still working on its Bethesda.net mod interface. URLs end in access denied. [Controls] fMovementAxisDeadzone default value was changed from 0.15 to 0. ;No idea what change this causes. [Gameplay] bStroud=0 ;No idea what change this causes. [General] bAutoloadDLC=1 ;Added to load DLC bProgressiveCellAttach=0 bProgressiveCellDetach=0 ;No idea what these do. [interface] fBuildABotMouseRotationScalar=0.1000 ;Appears to be the only interface setting added for the Automatron DLC iSurvivalBumpDownMessageDelayCount=5 uAmmoWeightPrecision=3 uFatigueWarningDisplayDurationMS=1000 ;rather random additions. [saveGame] sSaveGameSafeMarkerID default value was changed from 1DC0A to A3701. ;Bethesda typically changes this to warn about older saves being unsafe [Workshop] fWorkshopForwardCastMaxXYBound=0.7500 ;Might be related to "Fixed issue where exiting workbenches would cause third person to stop working properly"
  3. Some INI tweaks do stay with saved games, at least historically (with the previous games), so it is likely to do so with some settings in Fallout 4.
  4. Are all those plugins active? 'Cuz the STEP Patch swallows up a bunch of those. I'm guessing you missed a step, or even a couple steps. I've not experienced any CTDs in those areas.
  5. From my testing, I believe it does work, but is very subtle, and since it doesn't work with ENB, it isn't viable. 8x MSAA + Transparency MSAA --> 8x MSAA
  6. We're still testing...
  7. Well, never go with heavy armor, that's for sure. Go light armor if you do armor at all.
  8. True, but I wanted to see what vanilla magic was like. And I love Apocalypse, although some are overpowered, IMHO.
  9. I was pretty close to a "pure mage" this playthrough, but it is definitely impossible in the higher levels. You basically need to invest in a lot of Destruction and Restoration magic, with Conjuration on the side, and make sure you get plenty of magic enhancing gear. But then, I still had to combine it with other skills from time to time. Basically, I was a hybrid sneak assassin/mage. Now that I'm level 76, I have to pretty much just whack everybody with my weapons. I'm leveling up my enchanting so that I can be a mage again, but truly, being a mage, is quite boring after awhile. There simply aren't enough spells.
  10. Well, this does look interesting.
  11. For the water-sky thing, turn off sky water reflections. They're simply terrible.
  12. It's whatever is in the original Skyrim - Textures.BSA 1k version is sufficient.
  13. My level 74 character has a ~18.5 MB save file and is very stable. But then, I don't use many script-heavy mods.
  14. Thanks for the kind words! This is why we're still here.
  15. Oblivion Reloaded, since it works through obse, must be installed manually.
  16. That brownness isn't there for me, and I am not sure why you would have it.
  17. Advantage to that strategy is that the drivers are more "seasoned."
  18. Not enough information. Perhaps you installed 4k smoke textures?
  19. Make sure that you have some form of Anisotropic Filtering on and that iTexMipMapSkip under Display in SkyrimPrefs.ini is set to 0.
  20. I took these compares when I got the elder scroll in my current playthrough (currently level 69 - never made it that far before!). HRDLC --> Rustic Elderscroll Looks like a no-brainer to me.
  21. I'd say turn the [THREADS] DataSyncMode=1 to 0.
  22. Probably.
  23. While I admire you guys going after the INIs, they are not the true problem. The true problem is you are trying to run a heavily modded Skyrim setup on a laptop that doesn't even meet Skyrim's minimum system requirements, and a Mac to boot. The answer is, you need to buy a computer that can actually play a modded Skyrim. That laptop is lucky if it can play vanilla Skyrim.
  24. No other changes are made. In fact, I looked, and it never changes the iShadowMaskQuarter value. It might not change it in the INI if for some reason it cannot. Or it decides not to. I've observed varying behavior. The proof is in the console however. Place iShadowMaskQuarter into your INI and load up the game. Then open the console and type getini "ishadowmaskquarter:display" It will return 4, even if it is set to 3 in the INI. You simply cannot change it.
