  1. Mod Source: BethINI by DoubleYou Wiki Link BethINI STEP Wiki Link BethINI (pronounced "Bethany") is an attempt to restore decency to the INI configuration files for games created by Bethesda. It currently supports Oblivion, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4. It arose out of my research into the Skyrim INI files over on STEP. Why You Need This There are many advantages to using BethINI: 1. It automatically reorders your INI files into a sensible order, making them much easier to navigate for manual tweaking. 2. It automatically fixes common errors, including some that can cause CTDs. 3. It automatically detects mods you have installed and makes changes recommended by the mod authors where deemed appropriate. If your mod or a mod you know of requires such support, please contact me, as this is the easiest thing in the world to implement. 4. It's presets are superior in graphical fidelity and performance (95% of the time) to the official presets one can create via the game launcher. 5. It allows for the modification of more settings than is accessible via native game settings, and provides explanation for each setting and what it does. 6. It automatically backs up your INI files. 7. For Skyrim, it automatically configures the Creation Kit to support multiple masters and any installed DLC, if enabled. TL;DR BethINI fixes your INI files and lets you tweak your INI files to improve performance and quality. Installation: BethINI is a portable application. You can run it anywhere. Simply extract and run. Do NOT run through Mod Organizer! Recommended usage: 1. Please do not delete your INI files prior to running this! 2. Run BethINI 3. Mod Organizer users should go to the Setup tab and select the profile they wish to use via the ''INI Path'' setting. Your profiles should be autodetected. It is highly recommended to close Mod Organizer if open. 4. Click Default. This will refresh your INI files to the default state. 5. Original Skyrim ENB users should tick the ''ENB Mode'' checkbox. This does not apply to users who ONLY use the ENBoost portion of ENB. This should be autodetected, so if you are unsure, leave this alone! 6. Click your desired preset. 7. Tick the ''Recommended Tweaks'' checkbox to apply tweaks recommended for all users. 8. Click the Save and Exit button. Testimonials FAQ Q: The program will not load. Either copy some of the problematic lines back into your INI, stick the old INIs back, or start a new game. Q: Does it work with ENB? A: Yes! Skyrim users can simply tick the ENB Mode checkbox (should be autodetected) to ensure that all necessary tweaks are applied. ENB users of other games may need to check to make sure that they haven't accidentally disabled any necessary settings (as I currently don't know what settings are necessary for the other games, as I haven't used them. Sorry.) Q: If I use ONLY the ENBoost part of ENB, do I need to tick the ENB Mode checkbox? A: No. Again, this should be autodetected. Q: I get an error when I start the game that says, "failed to initialize renderer." A: Your screen resolution is incorrect. Please change your resolution to one that your monitor supports. Custom resolutions can be manually typed into the Resolution box. Q: I want to go back to the way my INIs were before I used BethINI. Is that possible? A: Simply go to the setup tab and select "Before BethINI" in the "Restore Backup" dropdown.
  2. Title pretty much sums it up. I accidentally closed the MO2 application while running Oblivion. I hastily closed Oblivion once I realized what I had done, but after running Oblivion Launcher through MO2 again and starting the game up it crashes shortly after the Bethesda logo begins to appear. Still very new to modding and not entirely sure what is causing the crash but am aware that Mod Organizer must be open for the virtual file system to work properly. I do have my game stored in Program Files and understand it is advised not to be there, but the guide I followed in modding mentioned this should not be a problem and I personally did not experience any errors before mistakenly closing it today. TY in advance.
  3. Hello there, First, just a quick note: forum link in the readme doesn't work, appears to direct to a non-existent page. Ok, now the questions: the ultra preset auto-selects vsync, is this intended? Second, the "recommended tweaks" button doesn't stay checked if you relaunch. I'm assuming this is not a problem, maybe that check box is a one-time thing, but it never hurts to check! I see other settings like actor fade are persistent, so I'm thinking everything is ok.
  4. Hello all, I hope it's ok for a newbie to post here. It was the most relevant search result, so here I am. I am following the guide at https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49898?tab=description and finding that the guide is anything but basic. Enough with the humorous asides. After installing OSR, I installed Bev's INI tweaks which modifies the former. However, I failed to delete the folders that weren't related to OSR before installing. I therefore uninstalled Bev's in Wyre Bash, deleted the extraneous folders, and reinstalled. I got a popup which, intending to read, I somehow dismissed accidentally. Looking through my Oblivion folder structure, it looks like it was just a backup of the ini settings I removed, hopefully. Then I reinstalled Bevs in Wrye Bash. At that point, OSR turned yellow. According to the Wrye Bash general readme, this means there is an underride. OK, that makes sense..must be as a result of my messing about. I'll anneal OSR. Still yellow. Refreshed all the data, just in case...still yellow. This concerns me, as I'm discovering that a single misstep when you're not knowledgeable can lead to much suffering. What did I do wrong, and how might it be fixed?
  5. Hi, So I'm trying to get back into Oblivion, and I'm using MO2 to manage my mods this time around. I've installed manual mods just fine and they work, however when some mods are giving me this error the error of "The content of <data> does not look valid. If I click okay, it gives me, "This mod was not probably set up correctly, most likely it WILL not work. You should first correct the directory layout using the content-tree." Is there something I need to tick in the settings to fix, or is this the fault of the mod? When I was using NMM for Oblivion, it worked with no issues. I should also note that HGEC was installed earlier with the installer working as normal.

Modding Oblivion alone can be problematic in and of itself. The guide will attempt to teach users the basics of modding and resolving mod conflicts. It is a [WIP]. As my friend ponyrider0 says, 'If you can find enjoyment in unskilled fan-fiction and fan-artwork, then Morroblivion might be for you. Morroblivion is an unpolished, inefficient, precarious fan-fic quality mod that is no longer being maintained by a development team. Users should not expect to experience the best performance or FPS when playing Morroblivion, even in its vanilla state. Yet, there is still a tremendous amount of love and hard-work poured into this project by its fans. Nevertheless, if you are looking for something that rises above your average unskilled, fan-made effort, you should probably wait for Skywind or another similar project.'

  8. MO2 Oblivion version doesn't have Script Extension options. MO2 ask me to do elevation,When I open Oblivion Launcher. After I done,I can open the game ,but it CTD Immediately. or I should go back to 1.3.11

Fallout Stutter Remover has been a great help reducing problems with the Fallout 3 game engine (and Fallout NV and Oblivion) but several users have recently reported problems with some of the recommended settings for the associated INI file. iDefaultMode = 3 (under Critical Sections) Audley mentioned recently when using the new Fall Creators Update for Win 10 that setting this parameter to any value other than 1 caused constant crashes GeneralJohn reported recently in a Fallout 3 Nexus FSR post that setting this parameter with the Fall Creator's Update to any value other than 1 caused freezes bHookLightCriticalSections = 1 (under Master) Gopher's suggestion is to set this to 0 Audley previously mentioned in the STEP guide form that setting this to 0 caused a drastic reduction in FPS on his system bReplaceHeap = 0 (under Master) NVSR creator's recommendation is to use 1, but it's a tradeoff between performance and stability fMaximumFPS = 0 (Under FPS_Management) In the Fallout 3 FSR Nexus page Loveblanket mentioned the possibility of setting this to 30 to reduce FPS and allow using higher resolution textures on his system (I'm not sure whether other users will find this useful). iHeapSize = 250 (under Heap) In the Fallout 3 FSR Nexus page Loveblanket mentioned the possibility of setting this to a larger value (between 250 and 450) to accommodate the increased memory provided by the LAA fix. This assumes, of course, that the heap is enabled. The FO3 guide will be updated for at least the iDefaultMode comments. It would help if other users test this and other FSR parameters mentioned that seem useful to change.
  10. Hello fellow gamers, In waiting for the new LOTD mod to be released I decided to take a look at Oblivion mods. There is a lot of me stuff out there so I decided to completely blow out my Oblivion install. In doing so I am basically writing myself a tutorial so I know what I did. This tutorial can be easily adapted as another STEP Pack on this site. How many of you would like to see a current tutorial for a fully blown out Oblivion? If there is enough interest I will put one together. Also, if anyone wants to help let me know. :) I know Oblivion is old but I think it is still worth playing and some of the new mods look like they will improve immersion quite a bit so hey, let's play Oblivion. I am thinking the name will be LOVE:GOTY Love Oblivion's Visual Enhancement : GOTY Or something like this.
  11. Last time I tried to clean mods with Tes4edit for Oblivion I got CTD and had to Verify the integrity of the cache after deleting the edited DLCs. I followed the guide here: https://wiki.step-project.com/TES5Edit/TES5Edit_Cleaning_Instructions Which was provided from here: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Hishutup/OblivionGuide#TES4Edit However, the latter does not use MO at all and might just have been used as a referral. Something makes me think there is some problem with Tes4edit and MO, but I just wanted to check here before I got a headache through multiple attempts. Have people here made it work just fine, how did you do it?
  12. I've followed a STEP program here for Oblivion: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Astien/Oblivion to just about the letter. I decided to go off and get an ENB on my own, and I installed the wrapper version of it following these instructions: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/44146/? The game loads correctly, there is the notification telling me the ENB is working and that the overlay is on, but when I load a game or even start a new one all I get is a black screen. I can open menus, move, hit things, hear sounds, but no visuals are working. The only 3D model I can see in game is the one in the inventory screen. I think I have installed everything correctly, I turned off Antialiasing like it said and turned on HDR, but it is still not working. If I could have some help with this issue, I would much appreciate it! PC Specs: CPU - I7-4790k 4 GHz GPU - AMD R9 290x 4GB Motherboard - Fatal1ty ASRock gaming motherboard RAM - 16 GB 2400
  13. Mythic Dawn: Gateway to Oblivion WIP Hey, I need people to kind of help me with the guide since its getting to that point where, its really large and if I disappear then the guide will to. If you want to be like a co-editor then send me a pm. I don't have anyone else that can keep track of mod updates and editing of the guide. Sooo, if anyone is interested then shoot me a pm. This first post will update from time to time. Probably every week, maybe. If you wanna chat with me and other group members go over to Unofficial Chatrooom And by I have. I mean Soire(Red) has helped and merged her guide but has been absent for quite some time because of personal reasons. I hope she is okay. I have not heard from her in ~2 months now, I am assuming she is gone for the time being First off, take a quick glance (yes, its long and a little strange). There are going to be typos There are going to be issues related to mods conflicting. There are going to be issues with Wrye Bash There are going to be issues with the lack of Conflict Resolution for the time being. I took a look not to long ago and saw that CBash does a pretty good job Mods were abandoned. Most mods work just fine but the ones that don't will NEED to be weeded out. In short there are going to be issues. I cannot find all of them myself. That is not going to be a thing. Then come share what you think. Im kinda open to anything. I have kinda of imitated the S.T.E.P. style of things but compressed it into one guide. As I go through the mods, I do a quick assement from the documentation and then put a color with it. If you disagree, make mention of it. I am not really limited to what type of mods but I am on the content. If I dislike it. I am not going to add it. There is going to be a section for player homes, companions and some other things but that is latter and is not going to be something I am going to use but it will be included. I'll be updating the intro info on the guide page eventually. If you see something that doesn't look correct, share it or fix it. Either PM me, make a post or fix it yourself. You can even use the Unofficial Chat I use the top of the page for a more up to date update article. I am wanting a few things before more/less 'Alpha'.   14. As I was working on Mythic Dawn: Gateway to Oblivion WIP I had seen many mods that are compatible with Nehrim. I would consider Nehrim to be one of the best full conversions for a game. Soire had started a guide over here but I have not seen her active in the past month. So, I figure that I am going to start thinking about writing a guide because I am familiar with the Oblivion engine and know a thing or two. If you can, make a mod suggestion over on this sub forum and then make a post here that provides the link and the topic title. At this point in time don't worry about messing up the topic over there. I will be able to fix. This isn't going to be something that is going to happen immediately. Well, if I get enough feedback I may be able to get a good skeleton going. Currently, what I think I want the guide to be Core/Extended frameworkKeep the mod format from Mythic DawnChange the Colors but keep more of the .css from Mythic DawnMore... TBA...If people can actively post here and help get a list of mods going then this change be done pretty quick. It's all up to you... On a side note... I know I have been making a ton of topics all around but its because of this topic posted by Z and because he pm'd me asking me to... so... TesModManager - OblivionModManager for Skyrim and Skyrim SE - Oblivion - Morrowind by monpetitbeurre, a new version of OBMM Extended, is not recognizing my Oblivion installation (even when installing it directly into the Oblivion directory). While I check off all other mods that it can be installed for, it will only insert itself in Skyrim Special Edition as a new obmm folder. I do not want it in my Skyrim Special Edition game, and even though I uncheck this game in the installation setup, it is still installing itself into the game directory. I also do not wish to uninstall the other games I have already installed just to prevent this utility from inserting itself into their directories. Would someone be willing to help me figure out how to force it to install only for the game I wish to use it for, specifically Oblivion? I have also invited the author to participate in this topic, so hopefully we can figure out the best solution for all the games that it supports.
  16. MiniMap - Reboot is a mod adds a minimap to the HUD. The minimap can be configured via an ini file. You interface with by pressing the (+) and (-) on the numpad to zoom in and out. If you press the (*) on the numpad then the minimap will switch from main map view and local map view.   17. Hey, long time modder, first time poster here. I was having issues running Oblivion and Mod Organizer for a while and while testing was able to solve my issue. I own a retail copy of Oblivion and I've been trying to figure out how to run the two together after a clean install. I had a previous installation of oblivion I was trying to run through Mod Organizer, but because of problems with that I just decided to try and install everything fresh and see if I could get Mod Organizer to work. I saw some people report similar issues that didn't sound completely resolved on the OBSE thread so thought it might be useful sharing my experience. This report might be useful to someone suffering from similar issues so I figured I'd post it, just in-case someone sees it and it saves them the headache that I've been going through. Clean install of Oblivion with patch 1.2.416 and OBSE v0021 installed. Mod Organizer 1.3.11 is installed. Hook.dll is not installed. Standalone Oblivion.exe functions fine and game runs fineStandalone obse_loader.exe functions fine and game runs fine (Proves that basic setup of Oblivion and OBSE is correct, OBSE status tested by checking for both .ess and .obse save file) After previous tests, executables for Oblivion.exe and obse_loader.exe have been setup in Mod Organizer. Steam App ID left blank (Retail version). Load Mechanism is set to Mod Organizer. Mod Organizer Oblivion.exe crashes to desktop within 2 seconds of startup (Reaches Bethesda splash screen then crashes)Mod Organizer obse_loader.exe crashes to desktop within 2 seconds of startupStandalone Oblivion.exe functions fine and game runs fineStandalone obse_loader.exe functions fine and game runs fineAfter previous tests, Load Mechanism is set to Script Extender.   18. Hi Guys, I've recently finished installation using Hishutup's Oblivion guide. Everything seems good except that I've noticed a few visible seams (some pretty bad) in the areas I've explored. Weye (around the Wawnet Inn and its stable) Area surrounding Bravil (to the south, many seams around the more hilly areas) I'm assuming there will be more areas affected and I just haven't seen them yet. Question is, is this a known issue or have I done something wrong? I've followed the guide to the letter in its entirety and haven't installed any other mods that would affect landscape. I'm thinking maybe it's something to do with either load order (which has been managed by BOSS following the guide instructions) or something I've done when building the Bashed Patch. Bashed Patch - I'm not 100% sure of the correct process, but what I did is to mark every single mod as ticked, then allow Bash to auto-deselect any mergeables/importables etc before building the patch. Once done, I then tick any mods that have no selection at all, such as "Better Cities .esp" to make sure they're active in the game.   19. Mod Source: Oblivion Project INI (opINI) by DoubleYou opINI Oblivion Project INI (opINI) is an attempt to restore decency to the Oblivion INI configuration file. Sadly, Bethesda screwed up its INI. You would think that their INI creation method via the Oblivion Launcher would be completely error free, as how could they mess up what essentially is a simple text file? but it isn't. It is chock full of uh-ah-choo! sneeze-worthy lines. Enter opINI. We spinned the file that Oblivion uses to create your presets, twirled it into a sensible order, and whirled away most of the errors. This removes a large portion of the obsolete and redundant lines that the Oblivion Launcher erroneously applies to the INI file. Installation: 1. Download the main file. 2. Run the installer. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions. 4. Read any warnings carefully! 5. Once the installer has completed, the Oblivion Launcher will automatically run to generate your new INI file. 6. Adjust your screen resolution and other settings as desired like normal. 7. If using Mod Organizer, copy the generated Oblivion.ini file to your \profiles\ directory. Once this is done, please add any and all desired tweaks, as these are NOT tweaked outside of default tweaks. This mod cleans up the INI creation process. It doesn't add tweaks. Archive Invalidation will need to be redone. Uninstallation: 1. Replace your Oblivion.ini file with the backup you should have made according to the warning in installation and go to step 3. If you neglected to heed my warnings, delete you Oblivion.ini file and go to step 2. 2. Run the Oblivion Launcher and adjust your screen resolution and other settings as desired like normal. 3. If using Mod Organizer, copy the generated Oblivion.ini file to your \profiles\ directory. 4. Eat salt and vinegar chips.

It's two days that i'm tring to get this mod from the TES Alliance site: https://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/797-insanitys-improved-armoury-compilation/ After several attempts where i was able to download only 50-60mb before the server close the connection, I tried with a download manager as suggested in that page comments. After 2 hours (yes, i have a very slow internet connection) the download was finished, but I wasn't able to decompress the 7zip file because it was corrupted. I have tried (and waited) other 3 times, same result. Are there any other mirrors where to download this mod? Or is there someone charitable enough to mirror it for me?

This thread will serve as a discussion board about potential changes to the modding aspect of the guide and any feedback about the changes. So, i have around 20 mods on oblivion, ive been modding oblivion for years. my current install of oblivion has been fine for months, with mods and ENB. i havent altered anything, one day it just stopped working. CTD on startup, iif i remove d3d9.dll, it works fine. i have reinstalled directx runtimes from microsoft site, i have cleaned with tes5edit, checked with wyrebash, reinstalled, did clean install of new nvidia drivers, im out of ideas. im going to try one last thing, rolling back my nvidia driver to a couple previous versions to see if it has any effect, i didnt do a driver update when it stopped working though so i dont see how it could fix it. especially after i already clean installed. PLEASE HELP im dying to play lol everyday at work all i think about is oblivion ffs -- I HAVE ALSO MADE SURE NO OVERLAYS ETC RUNNING, ANYTHING THAT WOULD INTERFERE.

  24. I use mod organizer to mod my oblivion, and I use currently about 30 mod working perfectly also ENB. All goes perfectly but when I change some sound or video configuration its not saved, so each time I play I need to reconfigure. When I exit from game Im getting error message. Already tryed Fast Exit 2 without success. What can I do ? Info: Using steam version, windows 7, start from Steam created shortcut all mods load perfectly. Thanks!
  25. I have been using Mod Organizer as the manager for my Oblivion installation for some time, and thanks in part to the information in this forum it has worked out pretty well. However, I was encountering an issue using the Construction Set Extender, and decided to use the nuclear option and re-install, backing up my MO profiles and such. After a lot of trial and error and aggravation I ended up discovering my issue with the CSE was not related to MO at all. Upon reinstalling though I've encountered a new issue. I am using the Steam GOTY edition with all DLCs. I can load the vanilla game along with OBSE installed using the "default" profile of MO. However, when I create a new vanilla profile, not changing any ini settings or load order of the DLCs, I crash before the main menu can load. I tried disabling the DLCs just in case, no change. My load mechanism is set to Script Extender and I am closing out of Mod Organizer before trying to run the game through Steam. I am using MO 1.3.11. I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions on how to get things working again, and will provide any necessary additional information!
