Octopuss Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Oh no, I am not interested in vanilla values, but I thought that identical stats made no sense, mods or not. Either of those should be better...
EssArrBee Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 They may start at the same value, but as you gain perks and gain skill levels they will be different since the progression for light and heavy isn't the same. They start at the same point, but do not finish there is what I'm getting at.
kryptopyr Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Elven and Orcish should not have the same stats. If you're using the normal version, the stats you mention should belong to the Elven sword, while the Orcish sword will have 11 weight, 75 value, and base damage of 9. If you have the True Weapons or Complete Plus version, then the Orcish sword will have the stats you listed, and the Elven sword should have a weight of 12, value of 135, and base damage of 10.
Octopuss Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Oh yes, I do use the complete plus version. Forgot to mention that.I've just checked at a forge, and something definitely doesn't seem right. With 3 ranks in Armsman perk, the stats I see for both elven and orcish sword are 19 damage, 13 weight and 235 value. This is really weird. Do you have any idea what could possibly cause this?
Octopuss Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I identified the problem: trusting BOSS and LOOT.Neither of them produces correct load order, and places Guard Dialogue Overhault after WAF. ...but why does a mod changing dialogues change weapons stats is a mystery.
DoubleYou Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I thought there was a Guard Dialogue Overhaul Weapons and Armor Fixes patch on one of the mod pages somewhere.
Octopuss Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Yes there is, but according to GDO page it's fully compatible with WAF - well I guess only as long as load order is correct.
rootsrat Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 It won't be compatible out of the box, because BOTH mods modify different values in the same records, so a patch is absolutely necessary. Load order swap won't fix this.
Octopuss Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Well, I guess the author of GDO should know better, right? And changing load order did fix it - for me at least.
rootsrat Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Oh? My apologies then, I must have been thinking of a different mod or set of records.
Octopuss Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) Hey it's not like the authors are automatically always right But after seeing it fixed by simply changing the order, I have to assume in this particular case it was true I still absolutely don't get it how could GDO change stats on weapons :O_o: Edited March 19, 2014 by Octopuss
DoYouEvenModBro Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Octopuss, can you summarize to me the load order change that fixed the issue for you? You didn't load the WAF-GDO Patch AFTER GDO? And that's what caused the issue?
kryptopyr Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 The reason GDO makes edits to some of the weapon records is because of the guard comments relating to what type of weapon the player is carrying. GDO adds keywords to some of the weapons to trigger weapon appropriate comments. I've carried these keywords over into WAF, so loading GDO before WAF should resolve the compatibility issues between the two. 1
DoYouEvenModBro Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) Does BOSS not automatically load GDO before W&A Fixes? I thought it did? And if it doesn't, I guess that's what the W&A Fixes - GDO Patch is for, right? Edited March 19, 2014 by DoYouEvenModBro
