  1. I just reviewed all of the plugins together (including the three expansions produced by AOS MA), and there is remarkably little overlap amongst the plugins (i.e., it looks like what few conflicts there are are intentional. It appears as though these mods were all made to work together, and it's evident that all of the patching has been done with great care to respect each of these mod's contributions. I'm preparing topics for the other three now ...
  2. I just think whether or not we keep CoverKhajiits, that this retex doesn't fit either vanilla or CoverKhajiits. The MA that took over CoverKhajiits made better textures for the body than this mod and should have retained those rather than drop them for these created by another MA. Good textures, sure, but not a fit for khajiits without also doing hands, feet and neck (the head is a decent match).
  3. Nice, comprehensive analysis, as usual. Thanks for taking the time.
  4. I will provide my analysis of this mod in conjunction with it's companion mod, CoverKhajiits. Screens (presented from left to right): Vanilla Tempered Skins without CoverKhajiits (vanilla-improved option) Step (Tempered Skins + CoverKhajiits) CoverKhajiits - Face Textures 4K SE (v1.1 with body textures made by the CoverKhajiits MA) CoverKhajiits - Face Textures 4K SE + Terre's 4K Fur Textures for CoverKhajiits MALE (on Better Males body *except vanilla shot*) FEMALE (on UNP body *except vanilla shot*) Similar to my FAR analysis, I think the vanilla style is way better, particularly the head (and particularly the male head ... the female CoverKhajiits head looks pretty good). Tempered Skins improves on this with the Better Males body and improved vanilla textures. The vanilla body also blends better with the vanilla head and CoverKhajiits head, but the latter doesn't 'fit' the vanilla body as well. The fourth option using the CoverKhajiit's MA's own body textures (v1.1 of the mod that was stripped to head only in v1.2 for some strange reason, harkening to this mod as an implicitly better version of body textures ). This mod's textures (#5) simply don't work and are not consistent with Khajiits in Skyrim. The hair is too short like that of a horse and blending with the neck/head and hands (also from this mod) is really inconsistent. The CoverKhajiits MA's body textures are much better with the CoverKhajiits head. The vanilla body textures work best with either the vanilla head or the CoverKhajiits head, but slightly better with the vanilla head, IMO. The Tempered Skins vanilla male head/body is superior to all others, IMO, but the female CoverKhajiits head does look good, so I could take it or leave it. The female vanilla body textures work best with either head. I vote to drop CoverKhajiits as a result of my findings here and my XP in game looking at khajiits ... except maybe keep only the female head from that mod. I don't think this mod should be accepted, since it's too different from vanilla or our current Step solution for khajiits.
  5. Discussion topic: Audio Overhaul - Immersive Sounds Integration by DylanJamesWasTaken, lazygecko Wiki Link This is a compatibility patch created and maintained by the respective authors of Audio Overhaul for Skyrim SE and Immersive Sounds - Compendium. I think the result might be a comprehensive and more realistic soundscape. Associated mod links: AOS Expansions Acoustic Space Improvement Fixes Reverb Interior Sounds Expansion Regional Sounds Expansion AOS-ISC Integration Solution Audio Overhaul for Skyrim SE Immersive Sounds - Compendium Audio Overhaul - Immersive Sounds Integration (this mod) Implementation Mechanic Sound Record Distributor
  6. Discussion topic: Immersive Sounds - Compendium by lazygecko Wiki Link Recommended as an expansion of AOS and also comes with a compatibility patch maintained by this and the AOS author, so I think it's likely a no-brainer, given the added non-overlapping sounds to yield a more comprehensive soundscape. Associated mod links: AOS Expansions Acoustic Space Improvement Fixes Reverb Interior Sounds Expansion Regional Sounds Expansion AOS-ISC Integration Solution Audio Overhaul for Skyrim SE Immersive Sounds - Compendium (this mod) Audio Overhaul - Immersive Sounds Integration Implementation Mechanic Sound Record Distributor Install config for testing (do try other options, but please note results in comparison to vanilla or the following options if so):
  7. What specifically are teh "three expansions to AOS"? I see two mods recommended on AOS page. I would like to test AOS with these expansions: RECOMMENDATIONS Audio Overhaul - Immersive Sounds Integration ◈ Immersive Sounds Compendium
  8. I'm tagging this as accepted, so please post if issues.
  9. I looked at this mod's impact in game fairly extensively, and I feel like we are using this mod (and CoverKhajiits) mostly out of impulse to replace vanilla textures based on the assumption that vanilla textures are 'vanilla' and so less desirable. I don't think that's the case here and that the vanilla argonian textures are superior (well, the Tempered Skins reworked vanilla textures anyway). The greater the distance seen in game, the less difference you see with vanilla. It's when you get closer to the argonian that you can appreciate the greater detail and shading of the Tempered Skins textures/models. The FAR version is simply vanilla with some added scales, which detracts from the nice skin detail of the original textures (e.g., veins) and the head. I stand by my view that this mod should be dropped in favor of Tempered Skins version. This version is also 2k and consistent with resolution of other character textures (FAR 2k archive is broken for the new version, so we are limited to 4k probably for years if history of this mod is any indicator).
  10. There's an idea. I like th direction of the mod, but if it increases odd behavior that would not otherwise happen (rabbits grazing on the lake bottom?!?), then it needs some tweaks.
  11. Yes, we will override those two for consistency with RC
  12. After doing some investigating of all of our body-parts replacers in Character Appearance ModGroup, I grabbed screens of what is related to FAR. Vanilla [2k] >> Step (FAR [4k]+ Tempered Skins) >> Step (Tempered Skins [2k] without FAR) MALE FEMALE I actually prefer the Tempered Skin without FAR by a long shot (basically vanilla). I just think the original vanilla texture is better all around (head and body). Also, the UNP underwear on females is an improvement over the janky vanilla underwear. Now to the caveats ... meshes, texture seams, and normals: MALE FAR gives rather noticeable arm seams for males, and the hand textures are just a bit off, IMO: ... and ankle seams are also an issue, but this is partly the fault of Tempered Skins, which is providing the Better Males body mesh and more importantly, feet meshes to correct the vanilla stump feet, so this is worth the tradeoff (I also checked FAR using the vanilla mesh, which made a huge mess of the feet, presumably since the UV map is not compatible with the texture): FEMALE For females, FAR looks better on the arms: ... but the feet have some obvious seams (likely due in part to this being a UNP body from Tempered skins, which works nicely for all but beast race ankle seams): Here's those same shots with FAR removed (Tempered Skins only): MALE FEMALE ... notice in both males and females, the arm seams are much less noticeable and the textures of the hands look decent, but the feet are a bit of a mess. The male feet have smooth model space normals, so the MA was lazy and used the human feet MSNs in the atlas. This can easily be corrected by re-making that part of the normal using the diffuse. For females, the issue is with the UV map on the UNP body/feet meshes. THat should also be relatively easy fix (I think .. I have little XP with body meshes) All said and done, I still prefer argonians with the vanilla textures on the Better Males and UNP meshes from Tempered Skins and vote to drop this mod I also think this mod and Coverkajiits should be installed after Tempered skins to avoid having to hide files in that mod.
  13. Tagging accepted for 2.2.0
  14. I'm marking this one as accepted if for no other reason than we need a crash logger that works with the latest game runtime and is more forward compatible.
  15. Thanks, I just saw you updated the Nexus page, which clarifies.
  16. To expedite the release of the next SkyrimSE Guide iteration, community members can provide testing feedback on all mods tagged for 'TESTING'. There is often a backlog of mods to be tested making it difficult for Step Curators to get to all the submissions each release. Without the community's help, Curators often have to narrow their focus down to mods that receive the most feedback or what the Curator decides would be the most beneficial, or often easiest, to add to each release. These links lead to a filtered list of all mods that could be considered for the next SkyrimSE Guide release. Click into these topics, read their OP (which often contains testing information), read through the comments to see what others are saying, and post your own feedback/opinions from using the mod. The next iteration of the SkyrimSE Guide can be found within the version tag on this topic. Some important notes: The the quality of the feedback is more important than the amount of feedback. When posting, please provide relevant testing evidence/experience for others to review and enjoy some discussion. For mods making visual changes, screenshots will eventually be required that show compares between: vanilla current Step SkyrimSE Guide new mod
  17. I checked this one out in xEdit and have no issues with this one. We have confirmation it works as intended. Since it's very specific and simple, ESL, and forwards relevant USSEP changes, I think we should accept it.
  18. I forwarded the Goldenhills Plantation patch into the Step CR patch in order to merge the USCCCP change missing from that one, so that Embers patch will not be needed.
  19. Not sure what you mean, but I don't think so?
  20. Yeah, that looks correct. I cannot confirm the reasoning, but we always forward USSEP records. I will do the same. Thanks!
  21. i don't see any issues with this one, so proposing we accept for 2.2.0. given that we have similar opinions expressed here, i will tag it as so after a few days of stewing on this comment.
  22. Tagged as dropped for 2.2.0. It's uneeded, and we'll likely see a complete double-sided fix of our own or hosted on MM mod page in the near future. As was mentioned, only a few meshes of many are even getting used now, so it's not worth waiting on an update from this mod.
  23. Installed, rand DynDOLOD, and all looks good, so I think we should accept this one. Obviously, @DoubleYou agrees, since he made it. It will keep getting tested as we work on other things, but I will tag as accepted.
  24. You should be fine with 4K and that card. It's all about VRAM, which you have (I use the 5700 XT, 8Gb myself and can run 4k, but I have FPS issues with my 1440p resolution at 2560x1440)
