The hype train is strong here it seems... so far everything "leaked" has been negative to the community yet Beth posts some rendered and likely photoshopped graphic pics and people are fine. That's my take so far, would love to be proven wrong.

The review basically reiterated what I've said before... nothing for new players.

Neo: It is most likely not photoshopped, but rather that they use the development engine with everything as pretty as it can be.... ofc. that stuff is most likely as unstable as running skyrim with ugrids = 200 and have an FPS of -10 etc. hence they wont give that to the audience. :)

It's only a few more days we'll see for ourselves what the game can do. There will endless videos posted giving us everything we need. Then again, it might be good for Bethesda to fail. Might make them stop being so lazy and actually put in some actual work on the engine.

Seriously, someone who "appreciate the sheer number of activities and quests" in Dragon Age Inquisition...

I didn't read the review, i decided to just read little sentences here and there to avoid spoilers, and the first that I read was this one (it was red glowing...). And then i decided that i didn't need to read any more of this.

I did like Dragon Age Inquisitions main story and follower character development... tho there were way too many fetch quests / busy work I would have to agree.

My thoughts have turned to 'I wonder this engine uses metalness or specular PBR textures?' That's my sad thought train, typically me too.

For anyone who doesn't understand that babble metalness is easier to work with. It's also called a gloss texture. It's a black and white reflectivity texture is all. Then you have your roughness map. It basically looks like a specular map of old and determines micro detail on the surface. Then you have your normal map which is the same, but your roughness map does all the fine detail, so fine detail is not really needed here. Next is AO and cavity maps. They determine, well... shadowing, as they always have, but are now seperated from the diffuse. Finally the diffuse (or albedo) is your colour texture that has been gutted because of all the other maps now. Diffuse is still a fine term to use as that is exactly what it still does... diffuses light.

Now the specular method is still used and looks virtually the same as metalness, but specular requires more skill to get right. It is not true that specular is defunct with PBR. Specular is now an alternate method of creating textures, depending on engine support. I think metalness has more performance.

Anyway this is my long-winded guess as to why the texture archives are now many and more.

/thought rant over.

Anyway, I will stop nerding over art as usual and say my copy has been stuck at a distribution center for over a day. I have to take Tuesday off in case it does come with a mug. It was one sentence, but the product said nothing else about it otherwise. Usually the game would get neatly posted through the door.

I think you added one of those settings....

Looks intriguing. Looks like I'll be able to reuse a lot of my "old" research... and benefit from a lot of new settings.

I have no idea what you mean... All the settings are totally legit.  :;):

So we should expect a comprehensive guide in a few hours, yeah? Let's just round it to an hour?  :^_^:

Here you go, the first 60 minutes of PC Ultra gameplay... don't click if you don't want spoilers.

Apparently they decided to simply remove shadows and reflections instead of fixing them.... yeah. Animations still horrid... yep. Lipsync bug confirmed. This isn't a leak either, full game footage from well known YouTuber.

What's with the cha-ching sound every time you kill something also? That's gotta be a day 1 mod removal. Also, knowing contents of containers before opening them... urgh.

Sorry guys, I think Bethesda made a cash grab (maybe that explains the sound?). Story at least starts off interesting. Mod tools will be a must-have.

@ Neo: thanks for the link, watched, disappointed. Looking forward to seeing what the community does with the game, will likely wait for the GOTY/platinum/game+dlc version before buying.

Dialogue is pretty bland also, does anyone have emotions? Also, has VATS always been so rediculous? Exploding heads with a pistol... lol. Down to the last 10 minutes of video.

Edit: LOL bug that stopped his audio completely... thats Bethesda all right.
