Lusciesi Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) I was following the installation guide step by step and I ended up on this page : https://wiki.step-project.com/Mod_Organizer At 5. it says :Go to the Plugins tab and click "Basic diagnosis tool" on the left and doubleclick "true" next to "check_modorder" and change it to "false". I can't find this Basic diagnosis tool and while looking for info about it I ended up on this page : https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#Initial_Setup and there's no mention as such. GSDFan Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Go to the Plugins tab and click "Basic diagnosis tool" on the left and doubleclick "true" next to "check_modorder" and change it to "false".It should probably be this "Basic diagnosis plugin".
Lusciesi Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) Thank you for this clarification sir! Unfortunately, I came across another issue and I have no idea what's the problem. Obviously, I did a search on this thread and the entire forum to no avail. I have installed the Unofficial High Resolution Patch mod and then followed the instructions on this page: https://wiki.step-project.com/Unofficial_High_Resolution_Patch#Recommendations And here's what I have : https://i.imgur.com/V3g7iiz.png I don't see any other "Archives tab" and the last steps are pretty much identical to the High Resolution Texture Pack. The instructions look extremely simple, I don't know why the archive "Unofficial High Resolution Patch.bsa" doesn't show up, the file is in the folder it should be AFAIK: .\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\mods\Unofficial High Resolution Patch I have tried re-installing the mod and I read up on this article (which unfortunately wasn't useful), still with issue. edit : turns out, I have the same problem with all .bsa files that needs to be ticked (so far I have encountered an issue with Brawl Bugs CE.bsa) ________________________________ Different topic After installing the Consistent Older People mod, I got a popup from MO about "No game data on top level". The MO tutorial is clear enough (I think, I just set the "data" folder as the data directory), but I figured it might be a good thing to mention this in the wiki: https://wiki.step-project.com/Consistent_Older_People Same thing Double Cursor Fix. GSDFan Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 BSAs do not show up in the Optional ESPs tab, They only show up in the File Tree tab. You may be getting turned around by thinking they are there. Close the window and select the archives tab fron the tabs in the right pane. The right side of the picture you posted is correct. That is the archives tab and the BSAs are checked. Consistent older people mod, some mods will be not packaged properly for install. Think of the manual "Install Mods" window as the games Data folder, which is the top most folder. Every mod will have something to install in the data folder and proper convention is Data followed by meshes, textures, interface and so on.If you see a second data folder in there then just right click on it and select "Set Data Directory". That will usually get you to the proper file structure. Double cursor fix is packed the same way.

The left side of the screenshot was there only to indicate that I followed the instructions and moved the .esp to the "Optional ESPs" category, that's it. When you say "the BSAs are checked", shouldn't there be a "Unofficial High Resolution Patch.bsa" showing up in the list under the Archives tab? Because it's not there. And the instructions say we should tick it. Here's the list of all the .bsa files listed under Archives, if that helps making the problem more explicit : https://i.imgur.com/m9LAlcY.png edit : issue has been resolved, mod wasn't activated in the left pane Consistent older people mod, some mods will be not packaged properly for install. My point was only that it should be mentioned on the wiki that this needs to be done. I figured it out, but there was confusion at first and I'm guessing others would be in the same boat. GSDFan Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 There should be a BSA unless you have BSA Extractor in settings set to true, then they will be unpacked and the BSA will be deleted. Look at the Files tab, You should see the ESP and BSA. I you see the ESP and folders like textures, meshes, scripts and so on then it got unpacked.
Lusciesi Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) BSA extractor settings : https://i.imgur.com/RnD5kP4.png As I mentioned earlier, the file "Unofficial High Resolution Patch.bsa" is in the folder it should be AFAIK: .\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\mods\Unofficial High Resolution Patch Here's a screenshot of the file tree I got for the mod : https://i.imgur.com/aY5mFH3.png I've never used these tools, so I'm not taking any liberties with the STEP:Core procedure (only liberty I took was with the 1.E. Display & Video Card Settings part, which can't be a factor here). I'm thinking that the latest version of MO (1.3.5 the one I use) doesn't work exactly like the one(s) used for this guide and/or has an issue. edit : issue has been resolved, mod wasn't activated in the left pane __________________________________________________ Other issue: the mod Enhanced Distant Terrain 2 is no longer on NMM. From a reddit post I found, it's been unavailable for months. I couldn't find it elsewhere except packaged with other mods. Should I skip it? Edited May 26, 2015 by Lusciesi
Nozzer66 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Enhanced Distant Terrain 2 is now part of a mod pack called The Ruffled Feather, by Sparrow Prince. There's a few posts about it here on the board. You'll find there's other STEP mods packaged in that mod, so I'd just grab it and install just the STEP mods via the FOMOD installer. 1

There's an optional flie called "The Ruffled Feather - Enhanced Distant Terrain v1.1", I'm assuming that's the one. edit : I see it's been added to the 2.2.9.1 version (in dev) Do you have those mods that contain these so-called 'missing' BSAs active in the left-hand pane?I can see you have them installed but they needed to have a checkmark next to their names in the left-hand pane so they are available for the game.Well...that's embarrassing... This was precisely the problem. And I have seen part of Gopher's tutorial on MO, at least where he shows how to enable mods, I just didn't figure out that was essential at this point (obviously I haven't started running Skyrim yet)... Nozzer66 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) Yeah that's the one you want. And regards the broken links, looks like they link to pages on Nexus. Nexus has probably moved the pics. Edited May 26, 2015 by Nozzer66
z929669 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I think it is time to seriously consider a total revision of this guide (or splitting into several other guides or incorporate essentials into the main STEP guide). I don't see much information that is essential for everyone, and it may just add confusion. Much of the info is redundant or outdated.
DoubleYou Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I agree that much of the information is sorely out of date and unnecessary. We should revamp it to be in line with the other guide formats, which seem to be becoming much more standardized.
TechAngel85 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Updated the link for GamerPoet's Skyrim installation video to his newest video recently released.
