Kelmych Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Neo also chose some of the textures for SR; when we look at using this mod for packs both the TPC and SR selections can help narrow our initial selections.
Smile44 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Agreed, definitely not CORE. I'm not entirely sure it is needed in other packs, of course if one was to build a pack that was all about the graphics at as high a resolution as the game engine can handle rather than game content then this mod may make a significant contribution to such a pack, I wouldn't consider anything like this for STEP though Extended or otherwise as I feel it is a specialist mod. :)
TechAngel85 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 I never thought this would make it into Core. As for Extended. It can wait until later. I personally think this mod is a stylistic choice and probably won't be in STEP.
exploiteddna Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 i know this hasnt been commented on for a week now, and i dont like unnecessarily reviving dead threads, but i have some peace that would like to say on the off chance the author (or anyone else close to the mod/author) reads this. I just wanted to say that I have the utmost respect for this author and the level of quality that is found in the vast majority of the textures, regardless of tastes or preference. Also, I can certainly appreciate the many hours of work she has put into these textures. I do believe that there are many textures that would fit very nicely into STEP, some in Core, some in Extended; then there are some that dont fit the STEP bill at all. That's not to say they aren't good textures because most are; it just means the style deviates too far from our goals at STEP. Because of this, and due to the current testing protocols and the general structure of STEP, it is impractical to continue considerations for this mod. Who knows, perhaps it will be a better fit sometime in the future.

If the author however would want to provide a nice fomod/bain installer, that shows screens from the retextured objects (in game without post-processing would be nice but not necessary), we wouldn't need to go through a testing procedure as tedious and might be able to create a little BCF with STEP's choices on all of them.
z929669 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Agree with the previous posts ... several changes this mod makes are good ones; however, my main gripe with this and many mods like it are that they are difficult to use --and more importantly for this project-- they are difficult to recommend. The changes are not consistent and it is a mosh of many different potential mods. I prefer that authors keep things separate and devote more time to the description and intent of each separate part. That makes choice and comparison much simpler for our purposes. Otherwise, I think mods like this should be served up as a modders resource so that sombody else can package the pieces with more consistency.
Kuldebar Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 There's really all lot of gems hidden throughout Langley's Mod page. The title "Langleys Wood Metal and Stone Textures Workshop" doesn't really capture the imagination. The screenshots posted on the page don't do it justice either because it's hard to find a picture that's representative of so much of the work. My favorite textures to date: High Hrothgar, Solitude, Riften, Markarth, Riften Underground, Ships, Clutter. I often interchange various textures, and even I don't use 100% Langley Textures everywhere, I often do so for major areas. 1
DoYouEvenModBro Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I wish Langley had more screenshots. I know you said his Solitude is done really well and someone else said to check out his High Hrothgar textures....but he doesn't have screenshots for those..

Yeah, not a lot of self promotion with Langley, kinda requires some searching out to uncover some real gems, imo. But, Langley's stuff is never real high resolution so many people automatically go to other more popular packs.
DoYouEvenModBro Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Well he says that most of his textures are 2k/1k..that's pretty decent. I'm gonna try out his High Hrothgar textures.

DoYouEvenModBro Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 2k is fine. Isn't SRO entirely 2k? That's one of the best texture packs out there. SeriousHD and Skyrim2K are also 2k textures.
Kuldebar Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) Yeah, SRO is a blend if I recall, there are higher interior textures in the pack I used before, but all exterior were 2k or less. I like SRO, but chaging out texture packs before new playthroughs helps keep things fresh. The worst that can happen is...crap I made a bad choice and have to just switch it out on MO. The parallax related ESP's a bit of a pain because no one like changing esp's out in a save if they can help it, but those type records are literally just texture/mesh path edits; nothing more. WilliamImm Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Since we've got more active mod testers now, does anyone want to go and sieve through this mod, picking out the textures that work for STEP? That, and the Dwemer Metal Retexture. It's been updated since we last seriously looked at it, and this may also help with Skyrim Revisited.
