No it is not required. The textures are in the proper compression, and the files are as good as it gets in terms of quality/performance. The only reason you would want to do it is if you really need lower resolution versions... but it would really wash out most of the detail in the textures so not recommended at all.

The table of STEP mods in the DDSopt guide also recommends that CaBal's mods should not be optimized unless it is necessary for texture size reduction. As Aiyen mentions, reducing texture size on textures that are highly optimized by the original author can noticeable reduce texture quality.

I've tried optimizing Cabal before. Didn't turn out well Leave it be.

I reduced Cabal's textures for my current playthrough using lossless compression for the constraints and it worked out good.

does it mean i have to use the option none. cause for dragonborn DLC it only says for Nordic Carved Armor Black Fur.

 

What about the other options?

Install the entire mod (all the choices). We only provide direction where there are multiple options (such as black fur or white fur, etc). If it's between an option and none then chose the option.

I am getting a error message in Mod Organizer about potential load order problems with this mod. It says to move aMidianBor book of Silence -Weapons to after AmidianBornBook of Silence -Conetent Addon. Is this correct. My understanding from following the STEP guide detailed instructions was that the content addon should be installed last, and everything should be sorted by LOOT, which I have done. Although I don't have better quest objectives yet, as I am not that far along in the guide yet. Some help on this load order would be appreciated. Right now the content addon esp is muber 46 in the load order and and the Weapons esp is number 78.

That feature is Beta and not that intuitive. We've checked the load orders specifically and that are no issues so there is no need to worry about those messages in a STEP specific installation.

So I finished my installation of STEP: Core and I notice that in-game I have options of regular iron armour and iron armour with brown fur. Should both options be present?

I had an issue with this mod after following step. 

 

It seems that the dark elven armor added to thalmor soldiers has a a gold first person texture when worn by the player.  In third person its fine.  I don't show any overwrites in MO... I don't think I screwed up the install...  Any Idea which texture this is meant to be?  I didnt see anything in the downloaded archive that appears to be missing from the installed mod in MO.

First person textures are different texture sets than third person but you normally wouldn't see them in first person unless you're using a mod the allow this. Once of the more recent camera mods does this I thing.

Im wondering what exactly does the Content Addon? Is it only a retex of Skyforge Weapons or its add some new weapon in the game?

It provides texture variants for mods like Complete Crafting Overhaul.
