  1. OT, but thanks for the recommendation with avast!, techangel. I'm installing it right now on my laptop as a replacement for MSAV. Also, what would you recommend for firewall software? I'm currently looking at Comondo (which is quite a popular choice) right now, but are there any really good ones (if needed)? About MSE, yea, it is pretty awful. Looked really good at first, but then it kinda flatlined. I'm also unsure about AVG too - though the detection might be good, the other stuff I feel isn't. I think I'll probally use and love avast! for the future. As for browsers, I think I may actually look into using Firefox again. I've used Chrome so much that it's become second nature, but because it is such a memory hog, I think I'd like to use Firefox instead. I hate running out of memory just because Chrome and Skyrim are running together. EDIT: Now that I tried Firefox again... eh, I can't get on with it. It feels too slow - espically when you compare it right up against the very speedy Chrome. I guess I'll just make sure not to open 50 million tabs in Chrome. EDIT AGAIN: As for the firewall question, I switched to TinyWall, which is effectively a alternate frontend for Windows's built in firewall API (which is actually surprisingly good). I really like it so far - just whitelist the applications you actually use, and let it run. If an application can't access the network, just whitelist that. It's very user friendly, and very effective. And, like the name says, very tiny (the installer is only 1 mb), so there's little overhead.
  2. I've used Chrome as my primary browser for, well, pretty much a while. Nice variety of webapps and a generally stable browser (though it can take up a lot of memory if you aren't careful)
  3. Actually, they moved to Rockville (still in Maryland), at least according to Wikipedia. Wait, why am I helping you with unlawful things? I'm not going to be suprised if someone rings my doorbell and then yells "STOP! YOU VIOLATED THE LAW!" at me.
  4. It may have some issues with Even Better Quest Objectives - I only say that because I just found out that EBQO edits some of the unfinished quests.
  5. Didn't that already happen? (get the SRO optional file for the mod)
  6. I just asked him via private message to either give the source code to a high-level engine wizard (Boris, Altimor, and/or shadeMe), or to just provide the source code in a separate download.
  7. You could also just get the game on Steam if you can't find the disks, or don't have Shivering Isles. I'm pretty sure in 2013, most people who are playing Oblivion would have all the DLC expansions (or at the very least, Shivering Isles).
  8. Due to my interest in playing a modded Oblivion in the future, I came up with a big modded Oblivion list. Specifically, this one. I'm thining of transfering the currently bare-bones guide into the wiki, expanding it as I go along. If anyone is interested in this, please let me know.
  9. As I said in the FAQ for EBQO, you are encouraged to merge the original patches yourself into a single file. In fact, that's exactly what I do. I even link to a easy TES5Edit script to merge plugins. When Bash has support for merging names, I think I can discontinue the many patches. Sent from my Optimus G using Tapatalk
  10. Wow. I'd suggest using Prince and Pauper instead (link in the description of the mod). It just bugs me that the children in the game all wear the same clothing - wouldn't a Jarl afford to dress their beloved children in more fancy stuff? And yea, adult clothing variation would be nice too. It would make my day if nieva were to make a version of her Spice of Life mod for Skyrim. Sent from my Optimus G using Tapatalk
  11. It does sound like that on further listening. Although, it's weird. It would represent a date, but 11-12-13.. that was three days ago. Unless Beth is teasing us or something. Maybe the site itself started on that day - who knows. FYI - the MP3 file that contained the morse was named bridgeport-5284ec0d1b93c.mp3. Does this mean that Bridgeport (wherever that is) is a confirmed locale for Fallout 4? Maybe it's where you start...
  12. I tracked down the MP3 of the broadcast and I'm decoding it right now. EDIT: Can't seem to access the site now for some reason. Is it down, or did the site block me because I downloaded a secret file?
  13. The Thieves Guild Requirements patch was made for v2 and up (not for the non-beta version). You don't need to use that if using v1, there's no real conflict. Sent from my Optimus G using Tapatalk
  14. Actually, the patch may no longer be needed. Wrye now supports merging weapon and armor stats - so the changes from WAF would take precendince in the Bash patch. Haven't tried, but it seems like we no longer would need the WAF-GDO patch.
  15. Yes, that is still the defacto tool. Well, more specifically, Memtest86+. This can be found on any number of boot disks - my current personal favorite being Hiren's Boot CD.
  16. 1) and 2): Both look to be rebalancing changes. Merge those changes. 3) I think that can be safely added into Qot's xml. Probably should ask him about the new dreamcloth stuff too. 4) Again, can be merged. (That was a change from Reproccer 2.1, I think) 5) Doesn't need to be merged, pro bally a dummy line.
  17. I think most of the changes to the Reproccer were to the patcher itself, not the stats.xml. Still, checking with WinMerge won't hurt.
  18. Could be considered a fix - but then again, even if you could breath water, you'd still instinctively gasp when surfacing.
  19. Yes... it is a forward slash. I've used UNIX so much that I'm thinking that the backslash is a "forward" slash.
  20. Mass Effect works best if you do a Trilogy LP (ie: start from 1 and go to 3), by the way. And I'm looking to play Origins too, so I'd rather wait untill I can get it. Otherwise, go nuts.
  21. The new installer is missing a comma and a backslash after the line (so that's why it's erroring out). I'll probally do my own verison of the XPMS installer, but it would be a complete revision (I really don't like the current state of the installer).
  22. I'd be willing to see any game that wasn't played by 6 million other users in an attempt to attract views. Rule out Minecraft (doesn't take to LP very nicely - those that are interested would probably play it themselves), Happy Wheels (same reason as Minecraft), I Wanna Be The Guy and similar (unless you can pass most screens in a few trys), and Slender (who would want to see a "horror" game where all you do is pick up random notes with a chance of you-know-who stopping by to say hello). Pokemon LPs generally are boring unless the grinding is removed completely, and if some special gimmick is used. And no, having mock conversations with the characters is not a effective gimmick. Also, if you want a good idea of things NOT to do (and humor yourself while you are at it), watch Retsupurae's videos. And also (though those should be fairly obvious), make sure you have a good microphone, a good set of recording software (FRAPS or Dxtory being two great examples), and make sure you at least EDIT the raw footage (that's a major thing that most wannabe LPers don't do). Cut out long and tedious parts (like grinding, or backtracking), do multiple takes, and if you want, you can extra bits to the footage. Don't edit with Windows Movie Maker unless you are on a entirely shoestring budget (which you shouldn't be), it's very barebones. Invest in a capture card for your PC if you want to do LPs of console-only games - never point a camcorder at your TV and record from there, it will just look horrible. You would mainly use the capture card if you want to do console-only games on recent systems - for old games, emulation works fine. But if you have the old console and the game for it, you can capture card that for extra authenticity (emulation ain't perfect). Additionally, make sure your commentary (if any) is entertaining - don't state the obvious, and don't go completely blind (make sure you at least have some humor). Make sure you are intelligible, too - because if you aren't, you are defeating the point of commentary. I hope this helps - I really don't want you to be lumped with the crud LPs.
  23. You don't need CFM - you can just use the latest version of SkyUI, which also replaces the favorites menu with something much better and fit for PC.
