bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.2.0b - Official Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Yes. It will be out this week one way or another. I could probably have it out today, but I'm feeling lazy. ...so it'll likely be in the next couple of days. Since I recently just upgraded to a larger SSD and Windows 10, it afforded me the opportunity to refine the Guide more. The next release should be a pretty smooth experience start to finish. Reinstalled all the tools and Guide from absolutely nothing revealed several instructions throughout the Guide that needed some more love. I'm also rebuilding the Patches from scratch. Fair warning, the next release is going to require a new game! -

What mod is this ESP file? :)
TechAngel85 replied to TorAndreKongelf's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Just go to an interior, save, remove the wrong version and install the correct one, sort with LOOT, load game (you'll get a missing plugin message), save, and continue playing. It shouldn't cause any issues. -

SKYRIMSE Forging not giving Experience
TechAngel85 replied to VeeTeg's question in General Skyrim SE Support
This just comes back around to what the author said, and you posted. You're still getting experience, it's just the bar isn't updating as it should be. You can likely check to ensure you're getting the experience by checking the value of some variable, which is likely how they tested to ensure the experience was still being given. -
DROPPED Not So Fast - Mage Guild (by CDCooley)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
Just seems to be a small oversight. The courier could probably be recycled to send you a message that your presence is requested after the number of days has passed. I've never looked into how couriers are implemented but I wouldn't image it being outside of cdcooley's ability. However, I don't know if he's even still modding.- 8 replies

DROPPED Not So Fast - Mage Guild (by CDCooley)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
It is because that questline is so short and fast. Basically you just have to there there before 8am after the 8th day passes since the ward lessons. As the description mentions, if you're staying in the college (as you should be if you're roleplaying) this will all happen automatically. If you're not staying in the college, then yes, you're going to have to meet it's conditions. It's no different than the starting conditions for Thieves Guild Requirements.- 8 replies

ACCEPTED No Lockpick Activate (SKSE) - Updated (by lStewieAl/Umgak)
TechAngel85 replied to D1Z4STR's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
Certain play styles may not want this to happen. There are also situations where auto opening doors will get you killed or a bounty. I haven't really gotten to play much with it so I haven't really passed much judgement on it yet. I'm currently resetting up my system from installing some upgrades.- 9 replies

SKYRIMLE Selecting mods for an older/less robust system
TechAngel85 replied to mortimer's question in General Skyrim LE Support
New content is fine. New lands, quests, and UI would all be fine. It's content that will be running constantly to be on the lookout for. Ultimately, you're going to be the only one that will know if any particular mod is too much for your system. Test occasionally when adding mods and be sure to do so in some of the areas affected by the mods you're adding. Things like combat will be more CPU intensive than just running along roads. However, running around the Rift/Froze Marsh/Pine Forests is a good way to test new landscape/environmental textures since those areas are usually the most intensive on the graphics side. -
There are certain dragons you can ride. I've never finished Dragonborn so I've never made it to that point in the game. EDIT: I looked up the quest. Seems you're suppose to kill him. If he's not aggressive towards you, it could be a mod that is changing his behavior towards the player. It's also possible that a mod has added or changed factions around to create the issue of him not being aggressive as factions would be another place to look. In any case, you could just take him out and move on as that is how the quest is suppose to progress.

SKYRIMLE Selecting mods for an older/less robust system
TechAngel85 replied to mortimer's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Unfortunately, that CPU isn't going to be the best for modding. You meet the game's minimum requirements, however, you fall short of the game's recommended requirements, which is what we base most modding performance off of. You can still mod, but you're going to have to find the balance between your CPU and GPU performance. Your CPU is definitely the bottleneck in your system, but sounds like you're aware of that. In general, your GPU is going to be handling most of your graphics and you're pretty good there. Your VRAM will make a difference as will the screen resolution you're playing at. Personally, I would stick to 2K textures max and opt for 1K for any smaller objects, when available. You could probably do some 4K for some things here and there, but I'd limit as much as possible. Avoiding making your setup script intensive, which is all CPU processed will help and ENB is likely out of the question until you can get a better CPU. Also avoid mods that add a lot of NPCs...basically avoid anything that adds a lot of stuff that the game is going to have to continually process. Things like textures can be processed once and stored, however, things like NPCs navigating around areas require constant processing. -
What stage of the quest are you in? That would be the first place to look and see if the quest has progressed properly. It's possible that something in the quest hung up or that you missed completing a part of it. Else, you can stop and restart the quest and then advance it to where you should be; all using console commands. That would be a last resort and save before doing so.

SKYRIMLE Flickering LOD transition
TechAngel85 replied to Patrick's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Did you try to run the new LOD through DynDOLOD? DynDOLOD will sometime spit out some helpful messages in the log. You might also want to seek out help from Sheson in his forums: https://forum.step-project.com/forum/101-shesons-dyndolod-support/ He probably know more about LODs than anyone. -
ENBoost setting for fixing water?
TechAngel85 replied to Katarsi's question in Post-Processing Support
Your dark mists, fogs, effects, are caused by your choice of ENB. This is a common issue with some ENBs that use settings that are too much for the engine/mesh parameters. The only way to fix this is to use a different ENB, use a different mod for these effects, edit the ENB to correct this (I have no idea which of the settings cause it), or edit the meshes. On the meshes you'd wanted to turn down Light Influence and/or Emissive Multiple on the affected areas of the mesh. EDIT I see that you posted over on RWT too. I'll echo... ENBoost is not meant for Skyrim SE. It, to my knowledge, was never updated for Skyrim SE. If you want an alternative memory manager, use the one included with SSE Engine Fixes. -
2 Notifications in MO2 after a full STEP v0.2.0b Install
TechAngel85 replied to VeeTeg's question in Mod Organizer Support
1) RealisticNeedsandDiseases.esp and Disease Descriptions - RND Patch.esp are not in the STEP Guide. Make sure you have the STEP Guide and only the STEP Guide installed and working before adding additional mods. 2) Make sure you have SSE Engine Fixes installed correctly. There are two files. One is the loader that you place in the Skyrim SE root directory and the other you install with MO. -
It's always going to take us a bit of time to update things like FOMOD instructions when mods update. I have all the STEP mods tracked on Nexus so I am notified of all updates to these mods. I will get them updated as soon as I have the time to do so. With that said, I've updated the FOMOD instructions.

DROPPED Convenient Horses (by mitchalek)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
I, personally, don't use horses when I'm playing. This mod has been in STEP for years. It's last major version came with many changes from the previous versions, which may not fit well into the Mandate. However, I do know that it's the only "all-in-one" horse mod in regards to its features. Other horse mods I've seen require third-party mods for some of their features. For example, follower horses on most of the other horse mods require a follower framework to be installed and those frameworks require other mods that aren't in STEP, as well. Not only will switching to another mod cause more mods to be loaded in the end, but these frameworks are intentionally left out of STEP due to Mandate and objectivity. Therefore, those most horse mods are automatically eliminated from potentially being in STEP. This mod doesn't require such things for its features to work. I think it's inclusion is all or nothing. As for CACO and CCOR, combined with WACCF and Trade & Barter, these mods balance out a very unbalance game in terms of consistency. So much so that we really consider them fixes to game balance and enhanced to seriously lacking features of the game. All these mods being from the same author means they complement one another. Each layer adds more balance to another area of the game (economy, weapons, alchemy, harvesting, etc etc etc). Anyone who has played with them active for a period of time would find a drastic reduction in breathe with them removed from their game.- 29 replies

bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.2.0b - Official Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
There aren't any. It's rare that MO doesn't pick it up. Have you completely closed and reopened MO? If it's not finding it for whatever reason, it can be added just like any other executable. -
This template has been updated. The update includes changes that will break previous uses of it. However, they were necessary to add more functionality and the content using this template is outdated, though I updated some of it. The updates are... ...font color must now be defined using color parameter and keywords updated. This was to update the parameter to accept any valid CSS for the color property....new parameter added to control the font size....the tag's text must now be defined using the tag parameter. This was to help pass along user formatting and will allow other templates to be passed....reserved some tags for Step's use. Inputting these tags will result in the default output for those tags. bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.2.0b - Official Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Thanks for catching this. I have it marked now. You shouldn't have to start over. Just install that mod and see if it'll work. If not, the most that you'll have to do is load a save prior to Ustengrav and replay through that part again. I'm hoping you haven't done much past that point since you noticed the issue and are here.
