First, I read your other post. Ignore the PMOP messages when installing STEP. If you allowed MO to reorganize your mods in the left pane, undo the change by manually putting them where they are listed in the Guide.
-
Well, the mod lineup is the 2.10.0 Dev Guide. What is on Mod Picker is currently even less complete than what users would find on the Dev Guide on our wiki. For this reason alone, I'd much rather users wanting v2.10.0 content to use the wiki Dev Guide at this point. Also, I have some plans for the list on Mod Picker that will change it quite a bit once I've completed the content out. In it's current form, I'd very much call it alpha. I've kinda taken a break from all things modding to recharge a bit and get some info out of the other staff. The break will not be long, though.

I'm not done with adding all the information I want/need to add so that a user would be able to actually follow it on Mod Picker.

Position Placement "Cell" Records Conflicts
TechAngel85 replied to tjax323's question in xEdit Support
Yep, what Hishy said. In a nutshell, a "wild edit" is an edit that the author made which was unintentional. Authors are often forced to use vanilla references when building their mods because there are no other references to use. This can lead to accidental edits to whatever they're referencing and is actually a very common and easy mistake to make. Most authors will clean this type of stuff up before releasing the mod or mod update; however, there are some that don't. Possibly because they are unaware of the edits or were just sloppy and didn't care. If you find a wild edit in a mod, it's courteous to notify the author so they can fix the mistake. Those authors that actually care about releasing a proper and refined, and care about their work will likely fix it as soon as possible. Others...well, just don't care. Those are the authors you typically avoid, imo. -
FOMOD - What is it, what does it stand for?
TechAngel85 replied to Fonkin's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
BAIN the actual name for the installer used in WB which requires a specific directory scheme, whereas Wizards are WB's equivalent to FOMODs. I also recommend using the BAIN directory scheme when creating FOMODs. This helps maximize compatibility when there is no Wizard provided. Non-BAIN compliant mods can also be easier installed using BCFs. ...WB is a whole other subject that is a beast by itself. -
Position Placement "Cell" Records Conflicts
TechAngel85 replied to tjax323's question in xEdit Support
Yes, they are candidates...depending on what the mod is doing. Knowing the mod is important. Most position changes from USLEEP, USSEP, and many mods are simply to fix clipping or placement issues. Mods may also move objects because they've added or disabled other objects and the move is necessary to prevent clipping or to change the aesthetics of the area (such is often the case with lighting mods moving lightbulbs and light-producing objects around). -
Regions should be forwarded. Regions can be used for several things including weathers, lighting, etc. Water mod plugins should also be loaded close the the end of your load order. That will prevent a lot of unnecessary forwards. @Information, Beside the wiki, not really. We have our out wiki as well, but it covers mostly the same things. Honestly, I learned what I know by doing what you are doing now...jumping in and getting some hands-on experience. I didn't understand a lot of the records until I started getting into actual mod development. Once you dive into mod dev, you start to see all these records in xEdit which correspond to things in the CK. From there you start to get a grasp of what all the records you see in xEdit actually are, what they do, and how they may relate to other mod which change the same records. Knowing how a mod works is very much of the process of conflict resolution. If you don't know how a mod works, it can be very difficult to know what to forward and what not to forward. In a nutshell, xEdit is basically giving you a look "under the hood" on how the CK builds out a plugin file and allows you to manipulate the files directly without the need to open them up in the CK.

What you're looking at is... CRF is adding a condition to the dialogue topic or line of dialogue. Basically, this condition must be met before the line of dialogue will be spoken in-game. In this case, the user must be a part of the College of Winterhold faction before the dialogue will be used. If this is not combined at runtime and not forwarded, you would simply lose the requirement of having to be in the College of Winterhold faction before hearing the line spoken. It's nothing that will break the game, if not forwarded. Personally, I forward things like this because I know how it's specifically achieved using the CK. Whether or not it's combined at runtime...I can't answer since my knowledge of those things aren't what they ought to be.

FOMOD - What is it, what does it stand for?
TechAngel85 replied to Fonkin's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Yep, the history is it started as installer for OBMM (Obilivion) mods and was simplistic compared to the newer FOMOD. FOMODs were introduced with Fallout as installers for FOMM mods. The FOMOD is more advanced and is the most commonly used format for installers due to the popularity of NMM and MO. WB has it's own installers called "wizards" which have completely different markup. Regardless of the installer, the goal is to make it more intuitive for normal users to install a mod that could otherwise be a chore to install. Been there! Too many projects can become a real pain to manage. -

The Dragonborn DLC file. Manually install it to see the ashspawn 4K folder. -
FOMOD - What is it, what does it stand for?
TechAngel85 replied to Fonkin's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
That's it, my understanding: "Fallout Mod". You'll actually see some "old timers" in the community spell it out as "FOMod" for this reason. FO for Fallout and Mod for...mod. -

Generate water flow maps
TechAngel85 replied to hishutup's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Let's just say my mind was hazing when replying. Haha! It's very possible Bethesda had their own tool for this, but cut it out of the current CK when prepping it for release. Hand painting for Skyrim should be okay since the terrain never really changes. It'll just take more time. Good luck, hishy! -

It prompts for me: The only thing I can think of is to make sure your "Simple Installer" plugin is set to: enable=true silent=false -

This is outside my current realm of knowledge. Looks like that tool you linked would probably work. -
ACCEPTED Relighting Skyrim (by NovakDalton and JawZ)
TechAngel85 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Nope, RS can be used on its own without issue. No need for ELE. We're just using it as our interior lighting solution and provide the non-ELE patch for users who would rather have a different lighting solution. -
ACCEPTED Relighting Skyrim (by NovakDalton and JawZ)
TechAngel85 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
STEP calls for the non-JIT version of RS. Not possible that would have any impact here, though. Looking at the pics again, that actually might be how it should look. ELE will be the mod that is altering the image spaces to provide a more realistic environment. I don't know of a mod that actually brightens the dungeons...they all darken them for realism. If it is too much for you, you can choose to skip ELE and reinstall the STEP Compilation in order to get the non-ELE patch. -
If you don't like turn-based, strategy type games, then you're not going to enjoy this much. I would suggest watching someone play it a little on YouTube before purchasing it. @Genius384 I know what you mean. I haven't played with Long War, but I have played with YAXO which makes the gameplay harder, last longer, and more feature rich while fixing some oddball things that I agreed with.

ACCEPTED Relighting Skyrim (by NovakDalton and JawZ)
TechAngel85 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Make sure you have the correct versions of ELE and RS and that you've not chosen a darker interior option. Also make sure you're using just ENBoost and not a preset. Your mod list can be found in the MO "profiles" folder in the profile name that you are using. The file is call "modlist.txt". -
Shadow transitions are crap in in Skyrim; however, Bethesda did us a favor for SSE where they are smooth as silk. Just load up the game and watch them move. You'll be jealous that isn't possible in Skyrim! :: You honestly rarely notice the "shadow jumps" in Skyrim when you are gaming and not just staring at the scenery.

No, I'm cheap with a patience of a saint so I waited until a good sale.

I finally purchased this game today on the Winter Sale. If no one sees me around, it's because it has sucked me in. ::

STEP v2.2.9.2 Official Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
@LOOT Rules - Priority To copy and paste what I posted in another thread (because I'm lazy...) Sorry I have taken so long to properly check into this. I've tested and have updated the rules to their proper values. The Global Priorities should be set as follows: RelightingSkyrim_Legendary.esp = 30ELE_Legendary_Lite.esp = 40STEP Patches = 50 (default)Bashed Patch = 80 (default)Dual Sheath Redux Patch.esp = 95 (default)DynDOLOD.esp = 115 (default)Using these priorities will place the mods where they were placed when the STEP Patches were created. Leaving a gap between the values allows for users to place mods between these plugins, if needed. For example, setting plugin XYZ.esp to a Global Priority of 35 will place it between Relighting Skyrim and ELE (possibly useful for other lighting or weather mods, but keep in mind the STEP Patches carry forward records from both these mods).
