I also just installed MO for use with Fallout NV, and used the guide for the first time over the weekend. I could provide a few small comments if it would be useful; I didn't find any significant problems at all (which is great, of course).

 

 

One of the few mods I'd suggest as a possible addition to the guide is the NPC Project. There are mods for four areas, each of which adds some NPCs and small quests to areas that are otherwise fairly uninteresting. As is true with Skyrim, a  number of the NPCs used are in the game file but were not used in the released game itself. The mods are:

NPC Project - 188 Trading Post

NPC Project - Aerotech Office Park

NPC Project - Bitter Springs

NPC Project - Freeside

Outside Bets adds in a bunch of NPCs that were in the game files too. I was going to test the NV Uncut mods three at a time, but I think these may a be a bit more complete than Outside Bets.

Hey, been lurking this thread the past weeks and just wanted to drop in and say hi. Been really enjoying you're guide EssArrBee, it's been some time since I last modded, so I was a bit rusty, but your guide helped me starting the modding once again, and I'm certain I've never had a more stable New Vegas experience before.

 

If you need any testing or any other kind of help, you just ask, I'll probably be lurking here for quite some time.

Oh, and it might be helpful to remark in the guide, that you need the .bsa from the original mod page, for Couriers Stash Integration, as the download in the mod name only contains the merged .esp.

 

EDIT:

By the way, when building my Bashed Patch, should anything in the category "Import Actors: Death Items", including the category itself, be unticked? It won't prevent certain items from appearing on killed npcs? I see YUP and PN - All DLC having the tag.

So you guys want to do some testings, ehh? Well, you're in luck. I've redone the ADAM installer. It now has the complete edition integrated.

 

F&L instructions would be:

  • From the installer choose Complete Version, No to the NCR Trooper plugin, and Yes to the PN patch.

Testing needs:

  • Test that all files are installed when choosing the different versions.
  • Test that the correct questions are asked during install:
    • For Complete, first ask about NCR Trooper, then about PN Patch.
    • For Custom, first list all the options, second ask about the PN patch if the following are chosen: Main, HH, LR, Outcast, Nemesis, and NCR Patrol Armours.
  • Make sure the bug fix has been made to the Complete PN patch. When putting on the Prototype Riot Helmet and crouching the blue tinted vision should NOT show up.
    • Get the helmet with console "player.additem XX004cc6 1" without quotations. Replace XX with the position of ADAM Complete.esp in the load order.
  • Make sure that prototype riot armor is now on a shelf in the Helios One Workshop and not under the floor. Shelf is above computer where the helmet is found and armor is on top of it. Check both ADAM Complete.esp and ADAM - Nemesis.esp.
    • You have to go to Helios One for this one and get up to the top. I suggest coc HeliosOne and then tcai to turn off combat AI.
  • You may need to install version of the mod to test stuff. Use the Complete version as one install and the custom version with the current guide recommendations for another. You can just name them differently when asked about mergeing the files, so it ends up in a different file.

MO version 1.2.5 has fixed some issues with the FOMOD installer (even though Tannin didn't post it as a bug fix on Nexus, he's been replying in this report). If there are mods in the guide that have had issues with the FOMOD installers, then you might want to test them again. I only mention this because it's stated on MO under the utilities section.

Yesterday's changelog reflects all the corrections made from MO 1.2.5's external installer.

 

You still need FOMM for 4 mods, PN - Extra Options, Flashlight NVSE, OneHUD, and Unified HUD.

Your new installer works great, asks re- PN in both Complete & Custom installs. So yes to #1 & #2, I'll have to let you know about the rest as I'm still setting up my MO install.

I've also cleaned all my mods and did not write down which ones they were. If someone that has not cleaned their mods can run BOSS and post a report, I'd really appreciate it.

 

Also, for a couple mods, Tales from the Burning Sands and Ragdoll Overhaul, I posted a link to a set of simple directions for cleaning a mod. If someone has seen and used that link, let me know if it was confusing or easy to use? Preferably, less experienced users could give me the best feedback since the more advanced users don't really need me to tell them how to clean mods.

I was going to mention what Madoak mentioned about Courier Stash Integration, but he beat me to it.  I also have something to add to that: If the original file is needed for the bsa inside, is it also needed for the esp inside or does your "Couriers Stash Integration - WMX.7z" archive contain the only esp needed?

Damn, I screwed that one up, didn't I? Let me fix the issue really quick. Basically, you need the main mod for the BSA that is filled with meshes and then the esp that is linked in the guide right now. I'll have to make an adjustment to the install instructions really quick.

I'm getting a fail code for Wrye Flash launched from MO, "failed to spawn Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw"; failed to start process (error code 193)

 

Any suggestions? I installed Python step by step per the guide. I populated the MO exe fields by hand since it didn't recognize a pyw extension. Anybody see what I am missing (probably something obvious)?

That is what you should have, the .bat file launches it. Don't worry about the debugger it does not affect anything.

Thanks for the LOOT report. I'll get those instructions in now.

This is what I put in my Wrye Flash MO Executables entry (you will probably need to modify the file paths a little):

 

Title: Wrye Flash NV

Binary: C:Python27pythonw.exe

Start in: C:SteamSteamAppscommonFallout New VegasMopy

Arguments: "C:SteamSteamAppscommonFallout New VegasMopyWrye Bash Launcher.pyw"

 

Then I checked off "Close MO when started"

 

This works fine also.  And I didn't find it obvious - lol.  I had to do some searching around to get the information on how to run it like this.
