beej175560 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) I believe this mod no longer has any purpose. Its functionality is completely replaced by DynDOLOD + SMIM (with the SkyMills "compatibility" opton ticked). Edited July 12, 2015 by beej175560 1
TechAngel85 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 See, I've been wondering about this, but EssArrBee said that there were some assets from this mod being used. There are still 9 non-conflicted files, but most of them seem to be wallfall meshes that DynDOLOD should be replacing.
Greg Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 This makes me question my setup because I see only six non-conflicted files. These are the NIFs in the meshes/Effects folder. Everything else is overwritten by Realstic Water Two (fxwatertileflat_n.dds and fxfluidtile02.dds), TES5LODGen (all the bto files), or Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMfarmhousewindmillfan.nif).
EssArrBee Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 The animation part is what DDL can reproduce but this mod has custom assets that are better than vanilla. Especially the Solitude windmill.
beej175560 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I guess we should keep the mod for the time being. Is the .esp redundant?
phazer11 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Good question. I'd leave it for the time being. I'm currently reinstalling all of my mod setups so I can't tell you yet. If you don't get a response in a day or so I'll try and let you know.
EssArrBee Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I don't think it's redundant. In fact it's probably a master of DDL.
egraf Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Even the author of SkyFalls and SkyMills says that if you use DynDOLOD this mod is (mostly) redundant. From SkyFalls and SkyMills nexus page: The only benefit for keeping SkyFalls and SkyMills when using DynDOLOD, is the placement of windmill sails. My mod moves the larger sails away from the entrances of windmills for added realism. If you do not care for windmill sail placement, you can skip installing, or remove SkyFalls and SkyMills entirely, saving you an esp slot. To still get the nice bigger windmill sails from SMIM you need to select the SkyFalls and SkyMills compatibility patch during SMIM installation even though SkyFalls and SkyMills is not installed. This makes DynDOLOD recognise the new meshes and implement them automatically. 1
henriquerpc Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Hello everyone. I've noticed that the Update 3.3.2 was removed from Nexus Mod Website. The changelog was updated in 19/11/2015 and it informed that it was removed because was having issues. Here is the link: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40564/? Since this is my first time using the STEP build, should I install the Skyfalls + Skymills 3.3.1 normally and carry on? Because the wiki suggests the 3.3.2 update. I'm new to the forums so excuse me if this is not the right place to talk about this. Cheers
TechAngel85 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I've updated the mod page. Just skip the 3.2.2 file. It was only for updated meshes anyway and will not have any affect by skipping it.
darkside Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Why we need SkyFalls and SkyMills if we use DynDOLOD?
TechAngel85 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 It changes the position of the sails on windmills to be more realistic and not cover the doors. If you don't care about that, you can skip it without any issues if you also have DynDOLOD.

If you don't care about that, you can skip it without any issues if you also have DynDOLOD.I always kept it because it uses different meshes for animated distant objects, but we could just go with the ones that DDL provides to avoid the problem.
TechAngel85 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I don't know... Reading the Nexus page does reveal that some users were having issues with Sheson's meshes and Sheson said that it looks like they may need more work than his static meshes did. So it might be best to keep this until Sheson updates those meshes.
