I don't think that Guard should be possible to fire me in the air after my death. The funniest one was when Guard sent me above my house in Riften to the docks.

So there is no way to fix it?

One more question.

[ENGINE]
EnableVSync=true</code>

VSyncSkipNumFrames=0</code>

Should it be like this or it is a mistake? I set this up without </code> but i might be wrong.

Edit:

It is Enhanced Camera bug. Confirmed.

Why you say that ? Do you have any confirmed information about that ? It seems I have the same problem to fix.

idle curiosity:  stumbled over this on the ENB forums.  is that basically [parallel to, incompatible or largely/partially redundant with] graphics overhauls here and on the nexus?  i don't know any mod/patch's features/fixes in serious detail yet, but i'm guessing some (if not all) of those listed for 'particle patch' overlap...

No, mindflux's particle patches is a set of meshes which have been "fixed" so that the particle effects associated with those meshes look correct when using ENB graphics - but not just ENBoost. However, they won't hurt anything visually if you are not using an ENB graphics preset.

Also note that a lot of mods and ENB presets available on Nexus either include mindflux's meshes, or have incorporated his fixes in their further edits to those meshes. For example, I use Vividian ENB, which supplies a full set of the particle patches meshes.

Also note that texture replacer mods should work fine with mindflux's particle patches meshes, as long as the texture files are using the same names / directory structure as the original "vanilla" ones used in Skyrim.

If a mod supplies edited meshes so they use differently named textures, then the particle patches version of the mesh will be incompatible, in that mindlflux's meshes won't use the mod's custom-named textures.

Hello !

I have a problem with SKSE 1.7.1 + ENBoost and hope someone here can help.

I read the last pages and saw someone else (Alastor I believe) that had the same problem than me and it seemed to be resolved by updating directx if I understand ? If so I tried that and it didn't help at all :/

Here is what happens :

I'm making a new install of Skyrim following the STEP.

At the moment I have

-Cleaned the update and DLC esms via TES5Edit

-Installed ENBoost (with the ini modifications)

-Made the SKyrim and SkyrimPrefs INI modifications

I launched the game via MO at every step and it worked (new game => I'm in the cart and I exit the game without saving)

Then I installed SKSE (still following the STEP instructions, also seen in Gophers vid about MO). Everything seems to work fine, SKSE appears in MO exe list I have the scripts and I created the ini file as asked.

I launch the game via MO/SKSE, launch a new game, get the load screen but then instead of the cart appearing the game crashes to desktop without any warning or error message.

Just unchecking the SKSE folder in MO and launching MO/Skyrim it works fine.

To see if it was my install of SKSE that was wrong I reinstalled SKSE via the installer and launched SKSE outside MO => it crashes.

I had the idea to remove the 4 enb files (enbhost, enbseries, d3d9.dll and enblocal that was created at first launch) and launch the game via SKSE (outside MO) => works fine I get in the carriage

I reinstalled ENBoost from scratch following the STEP procedure, launched SKyrim directly (ie not using SKSE or even MO ):  the ENB is active, recognizes my graphic card and I get the message saying ENBoost is on and the graphic modifications are disabled :  I can create a new game with no problem (that's what I already had with the pevious installation anyway but just to be sure this is a fresh install of ENBoost)

Keeping ENBoost I launch via SKSE (still outside MO ) => crash.

So it seems that ENBoost and SKSE are both properly installed and play nicely alone but together they make my game crash when launching a new game (I don't have a save to test it on as it's a new install).

I use ENB Series v0265 (wrapper) and SKSE v1.7.1 and all the esms are int he right order Update, then dawnguard, then Hearthfires, then Dragonborn, then the Hiresolution textures.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be the problem ?

EDIT  : SOLVED !!

Silly me for a moment I forgot how windows works : As i said in my post I had updated Directx seeing what was said in previous pages, and the installation worked correctly and didn't ask me to reboot.

But of course it's windows we're talking about so I had this crazy idea, just to see and rebooted my computer ... and now it works.

So it you have this same problem ENBoost+SKSE crashing when starting a game, update your Directx AND reboot even if it's not asked.

Hope my very long post and silly mistake can help someone else in the same situation.

This is what it currently says in the Step guild to ENBoost :

[MEMORY]ExpandSystemMemoryX64=falseReservedMemorySizeMb=512VideoMemorySizeMb=<integer in KB, multiples of 1024>    ;Set to equal VRAM (32-bit)    ;Set to [VRAM] + [System RAM] - [2048] (64-bit)AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false

I'm baffled by that line about the VideoMemorySizeMB. I have a 64bit system and a sound card with 2gb of vram. So the number I want is (VRAM)+(RAM)-(VRAM)? Did you really mean to put that minus sign in there?

So I guess the numeral I need is 8192?

What number do most people use?

I use 6144. I have a 64 bit system, 6GB of RAM, and 3GB of VRAM. So (6+3-2) * 1024=7168, which is the recommended value for my system according to STEP's formula. However, I was getting warning messages stating that Windows was running out of memory, so I subtracted another GB (7168-1024=6144) to solve that problem. You subtract 2048, not your VRAM size (although in your case they're the same value). Your sound card has nothing to do with this value. Use RAM + VRAM - 2048 and see if that works for you. I don't know what value that should be because you didn't state how much RAM you had. In Windows 8 you can find out how much RAM you have by searching for "PC Info" on the Start screen.

Sorry, sorry - typo. I meant my video card, not my sound card. I have 8gb system RAM. My video card is this:

EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti SC 2GB GDDR5

I've been really pleased with it, too. Everything runs smoothly and looks great. So 2gb VRAM.

Anyway, I'll try the 6144 number that Harpalus suggests. I think leaving a little breathing room is a good idea. Thanks for explaining that the amount subtracted is only coincidentally the same as my vram, in my case.

64bit users should only use that formula if they have at least 8GB of system RAM; else, they should use the same formula as a 32bit user in most cases. Z came through and "optimized" the guides and seemed to have missed that little bit of info. I'll update the mod page.

Just to clarify on that formula for 64-bit users with 8+ GB of system RAM:

It's [VRAM] + [system RAM] - [2048], not [VRAM] + [system RAM] - [VRAM].

Even though 2GB is the same as the amount of VRAM your have, that 2048 number is meant to allow overhead for system RAM used by Windows.

Keep in mind that setting VideoMemorySizeMB just sets the limit of what ENBoost will use. It will not use any system RAM if it isn't necessary. In Harpalus' case, since he was getting errors about Windows running out of memory, it means ENB was using all or nearly all of the VRAM + system RAM he had allotted with the VideoMemorySizeMB setting.

When he set VideoMemorySizeMB to a lower value, that probably resulted in ENBoost freeing up cached texture / object data more frequently to give room for new data to be cached. This would possibly lead to some performance hit - but it's hard to say to what extent. Bottom line is that that situation it was completely necessary to lower VideoMemorySizeMB so that ENBoost wouldn't step on the system RAM required for Window's system resources.

Boris and his naming ideas, it cannot get more confusing  I always thought that VideoMemorySizeMB refers to, you know, VRAM. Apparently there's no way to prevent ENBoost from using RAM (I always had the impression it caused stuttering).

I have a GTX 970 (4gigs or 3.5 if ya look at it that way) and 8Gigs of Ram, I have mine set to 7186 and my ReservedMemorySizeMb=512. Is this ok?

EDIT: Vista 64Bit and not using an ENB

EDIT: Vista 64Bit and not using an ENB

with 8GB I would set it to VRAM and set ReservedMemorySizeMb=64 and but that is personal preference at that point.

I never understood the reason for having ReservedMemorySizeMb= greater than 64 but it appears to be very dependent on one's config. Maybe there is someone that would care to enlighten everyone including myself.
