Let's play recommendations
Garfink replied to Octopuss's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Sorcerer Dave's Skyrim Let's play is pretty good, sort of in the style of Gopher, just not as familiar with modding when compare to gopher or most of us that frequent these forums. -
Is there a mod that fixes Candlelight spell
Garfink replied to dreadflopp's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I use the ELE torch module that also affect the Mage light, works wonderful with the other ELE modules and relighting skyrim, both together has replaced ELFX for me. Both torches and magelights look perfect to me. -
Quit to desktop before reloading a game?
Garfink replied to rootsrat's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Nah, never had a real issue. BUT, I do exit to main menu as that is all that is needed to clear the memory. If I don't I sometimes get ctds while reloading a save game. -
De-level skyrim recommendation
Garfink replied to dreadflopp's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I am using scarcity, morrowloot 4e, ASIS encounter zone, High level enemy SIC edition, no skill limit, SkyRe, uncapper using the Ini from the morrowloot modular pack, for my unlevel fun, works great, play on expert, and adjust difficulty by changing ASIS spawn mob sizes instead of making all the creatures crazy health sinks. Using revenge of the enemy and the ASIS AI for brains. Using deadly dragon and dragon combat overhaul, random encounters (works amazing with ASIS) SIC and OBIS as well. If you ever still find things easy, add populated dungeon/forts to really up the difficulty. I don't use the roads module or immersive patrols as they make too many massive fights everywhere and leave too many corpses to loot free. Instead use radiance and extended encounters which are more subtle. Also use trade and barter using the settings recommend in the scarcity mod along with lower quest gold mod to make the skyrim economics much much tighter. Hope that helps. Works amazingly well together. -

Is there a Dual Sheath Redux mesh for this mod? I am still using and happy with Delarp -
SRLE + SkyRe: working with the Reproccer WIP
Garfink replied to ipmlj's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Nothing much new with 2.3, just the new support for Book Covers which was already supported by gimp's patches. Nothing to get excited about. -
Just add -noboss when running DSR or any of the patchers if you are using loot. Works fine for me. 300+ mods and have now exclusively converted over to loot. Works better than boss for me.

Using loot, seems to know what it's doing, I manual adjusted a few items, but on the whole it's recommended list works fine.

I haven't used Dual Sheath Redux for the longest time, because I don't usually play dual wield. But in the current play through I am, so I figure I will install this following the Skyrim Revisited instructions (the latest in development one). My Skyrim is no strictly SR or STEP for that matter, I have a lot more weapon mods installed, like Lore Weapons etc. Following the instructions, I have swords on back with the correct animations, but the LEFT sword of my current weapon doesn't appear on my back. I have many of the "weapon packs" installed to cover the meshes. I haven't tested it out with some vanilla equipment (at work at the moment, hate the real world). Am I correct to assume that the left sword is missing from my back because that particular weapon is missing the left mesh, and so isn't quite compatible with Dual Sheath Redux? (If my assumption is correct, all I have to do is identify which mod the sword is from and see if I missed install its mesh pack?)

Wrye Bash wipes plugin list after patching?
Garfink replied to UnmeiX's question in Mod Organizer Support
I know exactly why this happens: after you rebuild the bash patch, you click the close button on the app too quickly, just wait a little the next time before closing and it should be fine. -
Modders are people and there are all sorts. I have found specific modders are super busy but super helpful and I often find I can get answers on their forums for other mods! There are those that are super jealous of their stuff... oh well... at least they are share their end-result mods. And then there are those silent types that don't respond to anything. I appreciate them all as a strict end-user that hasn't even opened CK even once. I've noticed that the forums on the nexus are poorly organized and there isn't much cross referencing, so you simply can't get your questions seen by the right people. As for this forum, everyone is super helpful, enthusiastic and dedicated. The only limitation is the size of the population here means that not all your questions can be answered.

Its certainly not end-user friendly. Unlike the other script savegame tool, I don't really know what to do with this one. Reading his description, he is actually indirectly saying the other tool does nothing to help as it doesn't get rid of them looping active scripts that can't meet its end condition. And that deleting just orphan scripts that isn't active doesn't do squat. He is saying that the other tool does delete havoc/forms whereas his software does not. In any case, its not going to be hard to test... Just install Civil War Overhaul and Vilja and Sands of Time and frostfall, footprint and wet & cold and interesting NPC and play for a little and then delete them from the loadorder. That should create a pretty stuffed save game for testing.

Seasons of Skyrim ENB True HDR (by bronze316)
Garfink replied to TechAngel85's topic in Post Processing
I never noticed it before, out in the sun the paper texture does look nuclear with seasons... I hate you Kuldebar. -
Looks nice, more immersive than the one with the marks along the top. But that being said.... With SkyRe and the fact that I never invest any points in lockpicking.... I have long given up on the mini-game... I can't even open an adept lock usually! I really really SUCK at it. Lock(picking?) Overhaul for me... the one with the acid... I turn off the level restriction, lower the global chances to 3%, which means IF I can't bash or spell the lock open, I need to bring along 33 lockpicks to ensure I can open a master lock with autopick. Seems reasonable to me. At high levels when my character can bash/spell almost any lock open, it doesn't matter either way. Sort of nerfs lockpicking somewhat.... If I was a thief type character, I just invest in pickpocketing instead. The only time I would invest in lockpicking is if I was a sneak character with no melee/spell ability.

I can now say without a doubt: The Dandelions ARE very noticeable and VERY VERY AWESOME! First notice it around Markath. Its beautiful and not out of place. Its like they were there all the time. I am using the 512 version and I noted no discernible performance drops.

Must say, Paper Pack by Mancer is very very nice, has a really nice old-aged-paper look. Very authentic. -

Question: Any problem adding Agent of Righteous Might to your pack myself, do you expect any conflicts if I do? -

I meant this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=7914 It comes with True Vision ENB as well as independently. -
I must be blind, the difference is very subtle. There seems to less snow blown with the mod. Not sure if it actually looks better.

Sure thing! I am currently reassessing my merged plugins. I think I have all the small mods merged fine and many quests too. Just need to fix how I have merged level lists, make sure they are bashed properly before merging. I have been hanging out at the merge plugin forums and have learnt a thing or two.

Eeeek, don't look very good. I say drop it and wait for something better to come along. <wink, wink>

DROPPED The Skyrim Distance Overhaul (by Grieche)
Garfink replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Never use CK so that's probably why I have not had a problem. No problem with TesVEdit. I usually am working on a single profile at a time and rarely go back to an old one. Its tough enough to get one working correctly! -
Leave it to Americans to spread their darn culture around and taint the cultural memory of even those in Hong Kong.

DROPPED The Skyrim Distance Overhaul (by Grieche)
Garfink replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I leave stuff in overwrite all the time, apart from possibly causing problems between profiles in MO (for example: the bash patch and reproccer files are going to be different between different load-orders between profiles), what other problems can it cause, as long as you are aware that the files left in the overwrite will overwrite any changes elsewhere?
