  1. Somber ENB with ELFX currently but my other favorite is Ruvaak Dahmaan ENB which is much more vanilla like and has much better performance with that I use ELFX and COT combo. Â You guys have seen enough of somber, but for those of you who have been living in a cave and haven't seen Ruvaak Dahmaan in action: [video=youtube] The colors are muted but not absent, its close to vanilla but what I like about it is how cold Skyrim looks, even in the sun it feels cool and brisk. Great atmospheric ENB, the performance is phenomenal, I get 60+fps solid (caveat: Titan+5Ghz CPU+32Gb RAM).
  2. Aye, the combat is very odd but I do prefer the reading, there seems to be more content because of the use of text. I don't like the GPS compass quest directions. I will be playing for the storyline mostly and may be some roleplaying added to it. We are spoiled nowadays. It is remarkably how well the game looks, I think some of the hi-res textures are better then those in Skyrim. Morrowind certainly has charm.
  3. My understanding is that the oblivion gates could be opened any where, so it is rather improbable that they only appeared in cities. I think 4-5 scattered as easter eggs around Skyrim would've been a welcome addition if Bethesda did it in the vanilla game though.
  4. He only adds mods during play and rarely delete mods during play, so no problems! He is also very good at following installation and uninstallation instructions even if he never seems to read the readmes properly. Love his videos too, except that I have avoided some of his recent ones because I don't want spoilers for Falskaar/Conan/Fallout (I haven't gotten around playing Fallout!).
  5. Not surprisingly, I also have a very stable Requiem mod base going as well. I even got it working with weapon degradation as well. Need to go home and have it look if I kept a profile in mod-organizer.
  6. Got my copy of Elder Scroll Anthology, just put up the posters on the wall and proceeded to install Morrowind with the huge graphical mod packs and MGEX and it looks amazing for a 12 year old game!!! I am totally jaw-dropped. I do notice the lack of gameplay mods compared to Oblivion/Skyrim. Anyone with any advice about gameplay mods? I have found all the huge quest/lands mods but I can't find any concentrated info about combat/spell/leveling/balance overhauls. Any recommendations anyone? Any mod lists? Need to make the damn character run a little faster, its like Matrix sloMo the way he runs! The sucky thing is the mods are spread over many webpages with dead links all over the place, makes you appreciate Skyrim Nexus more... The combat is odd coming back from Skyrim, the hit & miss mechanic is so weird.... no timing necessary, just button mashing... there must be a replacement... Anyone else playing this venerable monster? Strangely.... the engine seems more stable as well.... go figure.
  7. @MontyMM Uncanny..... ;) sounds like my playlist philosophy exactly. I mean exactly! He he. Sounds like we'll need to get together & bash heads for ideas. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=3319&page=8 //4th post down in the spoiler You know what they say about "great minds..." I am playing the modded game you mention and I've so far very good experiences with SXP, works really well with SU/Duel V5/SkyRe Perks, (I want to try Duel V7 as that really changes up melee combat big time!) and it really does give you that old skool RPG feel. Add to it the spell improvements and leveling system of Forgotten Magic Redone (Apocalypse & Mighty Magic as well) and you've a lot of different ways for character development. I love it! I am actually thinking about adjusting SXP and Uncapper so I get a combo of Skyrim Leveling (which is one of the few good Bethesda ideas) where you level the skill you use most (which makes sense) & XP from SXP. Best of both worlds. The trick will be to find the perfect balance. The problem I see with the vanilla leveling system is that it really hampers play at low levels before your character's perks/skills have been fleshed out. Also the lack of quest reward apart from monetary/gear is a little lacking as well. That is the best part of SXP. BUT... with just SXP, you begin to miss the bias that you must develop during actual gameplay/character development to build your character the way you want. The two becomes disconnected. For example: you use a bow to kill all your enemies, you gain no bow skills as you choose to put the XPs in blocking.... See what I mean. So combining the two may be the best way forward. Fortunately both Uncapper and SXP are adjustable.
  8. I also note that he says he had no freezes playing the game, completing dragonborn, main quest, etc. etc. Well...big deal! I had no freezes either with Skyrim out of the box!! Not a single "fix" necessasry, the first time I finished the game! It was only after we all started adding textures & mods that caused me to hit the 3Gb brick-wall and too many concurrent complex scripts that I started experiencing problems. The only positive thing I can say is that the Author of the project's aims are honorable and chivalrous even if I don't agree with many of his observations.
  9. Cleanmem does nothing useful that I can see, did nothing for fps or stutters that was measurable and definitely did not help with CTDs, freezes or infinite load screens, just uses up some CPU cycles. Probably doesn't do any harm though, its not like Skyrim uses up all your CPU cores' cycles anyway. (at least with ATTK, it did make Skyrim load a little quicker.) As for the "blacklist" of mods, I too have mods that I recommend people to keep out of their load-order if they are experiencing problems but to actually "blacklist" these mods is a bit unfair. As for most people that isn't modding their game like a nut, mods like EBT and Wet & Cold, even with their ongoing scripts shouldn't cause too much of an issue. Gopher's let's play series is living proof that Wet & Cold is fine if your load list isn't too much. And if you're going to "blacklist" mods, then this is a very incomplete list of mods with running scripts. The guide also recommended various dubious ini settings that either don't do anything in Skyrim or can cause problems in some situations, like the threaded settings do nothing measurable and could potentially cause lock ups. (This section really made me suspicious of the rest of the guide and its credibility the first time I encountered this project) I also recommend for most people to turn papyrus logging off unless you are actually having a problem and be reminded to turn it OFF once you've finished checking. As for window services, most are harmless and take up insignificant resources when idle. So unless you have a very old system (which I did), even then I didn't observe any improvements in stability at all nor fps increases. It just seems that the guide is a collection of "fixes" that the author has found on the internet and have tried and seemed to have helped him in his quest for stability. I think at least a part of the guide doesn't have a solid scientific foundation, has inadequate testing and contains nothing innovative. And any guide about stability that doesn't mention the 3Gb 32bit limits and strongly recommend ENBoost and doesn't give advice about texture size (as a source of instability) is incomplete at best and outdated at worst. (Before anyone jumps down my throat and eat me from the inside out (especially the author of the forementioned project ;) ): This is just my subjective opinion which I am entitled to, like you're entitled to yours, and I probably have as much end-user experience as anyone on this forum in our search for Skyrim Stability.)
  10. In my experience, papyrus ini tweaks do nothing significant to aid stability. Garfink Skyrim Junkie Anonymous.
  11. Not sure what the benefits of doing that would be... makes upgrading a specific mod that you've "merged" more complicated and more error prone. Folders/Subfolders are free!
  12. That is rather odd, probably a LOD issue... I have noticed, you my friend, have encountered EVERY single bug ever whilst modding!
  13. He he he.... I have a replica of the cockpit of a Boeing 737 in my house... I have 7 monitors and a projector hooked up with 3 computers that sync the various views out of the cockpit and all the consoles. (used to have 5 computers, but the newer computers can do so much more now I don't need so many!) No mouse and keyboard, I have knobs for everything... Yeah, I love my flight simulation more than Skyrim by MILES!
  14. I've never gotten AV to work on my computer (with or without SUM), I get that blank error message every time for no apparent reason. (Since I use a simpler load order now, maybe I'll give it another try soon.) I've never had any issues with SUM though, a real time saver.
  15. Yes, you can use the merged esp script module for TesVedit. Works wonders for SOME mods (not all) and you need to do some testing of your own! Won't work for complicated scripted mods. For simpler patches I just merged these manually via TesVedit.
  16. I just bought a huge upgrade to my computer and graphics card recently. Didn't change my life at all and certainly didn't help with Skyrim, between you and me the only upgrade in the past 5 years that made a significant difference to my life is the advent of the SSD drive! SSD drives are AMAZING!
  17. Must have mod, its the unofficial fall down and get up Skyrim Patch for me!!! Falling down with this mod is still tactically bad and it really doesn't make the game much easier. Just less annoying.
  18. You don't use the DSI esp, from looking at the extra textures included in DSI that isn't vanilla, it looks like textures of impacts on snow that looks different with the DSI esp turned on. No crashes without the DSI and optimized textures.
  19. No, you don't use the reproccer, I just use the provided bash patch and leave the weapon settings on vanilla. In which case you end up with the benefits of the perk tree without using the reproccer. Since Duel takes over for combat, everything works fine.
  20. I love this mod, I think given the limitations of the engine, it does an admirable job of creating the illusion of fog that is believable.
  21. I've always thought that the Dovakin gets way too rich too early, so any mod that increases his income I am not too keen on gameplay wise. Although this mod does make sense but seems to make the world revolve around the Dovakin even more, which in a roleplaying sense isn't very immersive. Before I used Skyrim Unleashed which limits your wealth somewhat (so no other "wealth" mod is needed), I used Trade & Barter to decrease the amounts of money loot sells for and more to buy stuff and put more emphasis on the speech perks.
  22. Made me cry like a baby, what an amazing commercial. Karma.
  23. I thought that Multithreading changes in the ini will decrease your stability generally because the game engine wasn't optimized to use multithreading anyway.
  24. I am sure there is some rose color tint to my glasses with Wasteland and I probably had a much more vivid imagination back in the 80s, but **** yeah, give it a try. Maybe I will do a Let's Play on it one day. I had this great Walkthrough (commercial book) back in the day, it was the first every walkthrough book I ever bought but it was also the best written walktrhough I've ever read, it read like a novella and had a blue-print style. I still have it back home in Aus somewhere, I think its worth a bundle now, super rare!
