  1. GO to the STEP Guide and find dawnguard in section 2.D. CLick detailed instructions.
  2. I get what you are saying about the amount of savings from 2k to 1k and 1k to .5k, plus how the ground/terrain textures take up more of the screen than armor and weapons. The saving will be greater by lowering the terrain stuff though, from a hardware perspective you have to think about how many times a texture gets applied. The ground textures get put down over and over again and each one needs to take up more and more thread blocks in the GPU to do so. It is more of a performance issue than a VRAM one because each block will call the textures from the GPU's DRAM into the SRAM and distribute it. The larger textures take up more thread blocks though. Going from .5k to 1k or 1k to 2k is actually a 4x jump so the reduction is warranted until you get your FPS in the high 30s because your GPU can do more with all those extra thread blocks (or can do the same thing more times per second = increase FPS). I know I'm probably talking about some stuff most people don't understand, but if you know how DX moves data from disk to RAM to VRAM to the GPU threads, then you get it.
  3. Run the vanilla launcher after you move steam to reset the registry stuff because lots of stuff like boss use those to get the games location.
  4. You cannot run modded setup from that folder because it has UAC. You need to move your steam install out of there. Steam has a page of how to do it. Just google it.
  5. Is fallout in the program files folder? It can be there.
  6. Tannin is going to be so pissed if they change right after what the did for the BSA order.
  7. How old are you? That game is 30 years old by now. Now I'm reminded that I owned a Sega Master System.
  8. Okay with the 4gb loader you need to follow these instructions: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas#4GB_Fallout_New_Vegas_Updated You can just follow the 4gb loader instructions and ignore everything else.
  9. I'm pretty sure that this is known issue. I've seen it on the ENB forums a few times, you might check there for a solution.
  10. The reason it is Core is that the default implementation removed the level caps. That is basically what we wanted and everything else was up to the user. This mod is actually older than the Legendary skill thing that was part of the update right before Dragonborn I believe.
  11. There are drawbacks for many users that don't have all the DLC, reading through the thread you can see some major players don't have some DLC. Wrinklyninja only has DB, but this might make him get to work on the Bashed Patch and implement filter patches. Those would really help people make stuff compatible.
  12. https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1504125-unofficial-patches-legendary-edition-or-separate-files/ Poll going on to see if there should be an Unofficial Patch for everything. The choice is either one file or continue with separate files, not both. I suggest you read in the entire OP before voting because there are pros and cons to both sides.
  13. No I'm talking about the extra plugins I added to the STEP patches that are for users that don't either patch. The plugin combines No NPC Greeting, No Spinning Death Animations, and the SMIM plugins into one esp. One is HF and the other is not. SMIM also has a new merged plugins of all the SMIM plugins that only install if you use one of the install everything options at the beginning of the fomod. Otherwise if you do a custom install you have to manually extract one of them. To get around that I made the STEP combined plugins.
  14. I'm pretty sure the doulbe cursor is a problem for the fake fullscreen users, so if you use the fake fullscreen in enblocal.ini then you get the fix. I don't know if regular fullscreen users get the bug. I'm guessing that if you alt-tab from fullscreen then you should just switch to fake fullscreen anyways.
  15. Tell the author too, I'm sure he'd like to know about this bug that has been there for a loooonnnnggggg time.
  16. Yes they are and if you use the combined plugin you get both those mods and SMIM in just one plugin.
  17. If you add mods to testing though, I will get to them eventually. About a month ago I got into the mood to test and just started getting stuff done. Many of those mods hadn't even had any activity on there threads for over a month, but I could easily find them because of the testing tag. I don't really mind if there are lots of mods added by staff because then I can click the little testing tag and get a nice list of everything and work my way through it. I dont' even care if mods aren't going to make it to STEP, at least we will know for sure after some screens. Plus, we can just remove mods when we are done testing, no harm, no foul.
  18. No ENB, weather, or lighting mod yet. I'm actually going a more fun driven playthrough this time around. I'll get that stuff stable then I'll move into making the weather and lighting pretty. With STEP Extended, I get 45-50 except in the most harsh of places like Whiterun or Windhelm, but all the REGS + gameplay stuff I added is just eating performance, probably all the extra objects being loaded. I dropped the SRO Normals to 512K and that really helped. Yeah use the batch files and extract the mods to their own folder in the Mods Extracted folder in the working directory folder. Then put the batch files in the working directory and run the pre opt mods file and it will split them up. Select yes when asked to separate exteriors. Then optimize the exteriors to 1k for color mpas and 512k for Normals.
  19. Hacked account huh? Who hacks a nexus account? Sounds more like you shouldn't piss off your girlfriend.
  20. I've reduced the textures of SRO, Better Males, AMB BoS, and Alt Navetsea with pretty good results, and install SMIM half sized textures. It was pretty unbearable before getting FPS in the low 10s and after those mods, and now I'm getting in the high 20s. Still not good enough to escape a crash after 30 minutes, but better than it happening after about 5 minutes. I'll do another 3-4 mods and see if I can get back another 10 frames. Maybe mess with the install order since I just started sticking stuff between 2.M and 2.N in my STEP Extended build.
  21. Do you use No Spinning Death Animations and No NPC Greeting?
  22. It's not like we have anything better to do until Z and s4n have more time to push the pack stuff out of beta. Might as well test as much stuff as possible. Not sure we the testers though, phazer still has some system issues and I haven't phyro in a couple weeks, and then roots tends to drop in a do a mod here and there. Tech, DY, and myself are default hombres for testing, writing, and releasing right now. Unless of course, you decide you want to return to being a release coordinator...
  23. Those represent the official DLC. Anything install directly to the Data folder will show without a checkbox and have the Non-MO as a category. The DDSopt files are the ones that should have a different name than the DLC. The left pane should look like this: Skyrim opted texturesDistant Decal FixUSKPDawnguardDawguard opted texturesUDGPHearthfireHearthfire opted texturesUHFPDragonbornDB opted texturesUDBPHRDLC either the actual mod or opted texturesUHRP tick the BSA in the Archives tab and don't tick the plugin to load it. Unless you unpacked it.
  24. Why wouldn't you want merged esps? I'm guessing you are going to use all the options that have plugins anways, so just use a merged version. The are a couple options during the custom install that ask if you want to install with or without DB, so if you choose the DB option it will install two plugins. If you have both plugins then make sure that the DB plugin loads last. SMIM-ShackRoofFix.esp before SMIM-ShackRoofFixDB.esp or something along those lines. LOOT sorts them fine actually. BOSS is only going to be more and more out of date as we go along.
  25. With SMIM even if you follow STEP and use the custom install, you can choose half size textures at the end of the installer.
