pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim
rootsrat replied to CJ2311's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Great guide, excellent and really impressive work guys! Couple of questions/suggestions if you don't mind: 1. Better Fast Travel - Carriages and Ships - Overhauled - any particular reason for Loose Files and not BSA? 2. Moon and Star - worth changing the note for STEP MO users to move the mod to the beginning of Conflicting Graphics section, as The Skyrim Distance Overhaul mod is one of the first conflicting mods STEP users install 3. Do you know if Moonpath to Elsweyer is compatible with REGS? (According to mod description the quest starts at Falkreath Inn) Thanks -
SKYRIMLE Warburgs Detailed Paper World Map (by Warburg)
rootsrat replied to Besidilo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yeah, I am preparing a new playthrough now and I am not going to use Warburg's due to map marker issues. I really liked it in my previous play though, especially the ability to switch off the player marker, so you only had a rough indication of where you are in the map - as the map centers on player's location when you open it. Not having the exact position added to immersion I must say. I wish the same option was in the 3D map... -
Also, did you use the Globe icon to open your browser via MO after restarting? P.S. I installed full STEP XT yesterday, not sure when the new NMM version was uploaded, but I didn't have any problems with the "Download with manager" functionality.

Staff of Magnus Hotfix was uploaded on 14th Dec - will need to add info to the guide to download it as well - unless it's in the Content Addon as well? -
DROPPED The Beauty of Skyrim - Dungeons (by raiserfx)
rootsrat replied to vfxninjaeditor's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This mod contains 1k and 2k option, but there is no indication of HQ option available in the guide (the HQ icon). -
Do you mean in the new beta version? The guide does not mention to use beta version. What I meant was that the old main file is no longer in main files section and users may download incorrect version (the new beta which is only 2k atm)

The instructions for this mod need to be updated. Currently it says: The new Beta version was released and the main file is now moved to Old Versions section, so the instructions should say:

Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library

Nice one, will definitely be including it in my load order. Great work, as always. -
I am suffering from the same issue. This has partially solved for me - the game launches now, but it immediately CTD's after the first of the initial loading screens. Do you know if Tannin has this on his to do list by chance? Thanks.

SKYRIMLE Camping Kit of the Northern Ranger by The Northern Ranger

A brand new version 2.2 was uploaded in July. Cleaning the file from the redundant shop related records was my little input into it :) Tek improved the mod immensely! Features of the new version: -
FaceTrackNoIR - free face tracking software for gaming
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's topic in General Game Discussion
I never noticed any performance drop due to FaceTrackNoIR to be honest, everything works like a charm. -
FaceTrackNoIR is a great free face tracking software. I have never seen anyone mention it here - maybe because Skyrim/FNV are not supported plus there's not much point in using it with these games. For other games, mainly racing or simulators - or any other game where you can turn your head around - it is an excellent tool to enhance the gameplay and increase immersion in game. It tracks your face via the web cam and translates its moves to camera (head) moves in game, allowing for natural behaviour when playing. It's absolutely awesome and I encourage you to try it out. The list of supported games is listed here. The only thing you need is a webcam that is able to pull 60 FPS. A cheap solution is PlayStation 3 webcam - The Eye. It costs about £7 on eBay. It's pretty bad for web comms, like Skype etc., but for the purpose of face tracking it's absolutely flawless. I used it Elite: Dangerous and F1 2013 so far and it really adds to immersion, I'm loving it! It's a great FREE alternative to TrackIR that costs £140 and requires you to put some funny stuff on your head, which makes you look like a nutcase in your wife's eyes :D Hope you enjoy this tool guys!

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
rootsrat replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Texture size wouldn't affect FPS rate AFAIK. -
Strongly disagree. Look at these mods we have in STEP, that perfectly fit your statement above Bowlegged Jump Fix - a single animation improvement Better Freckles - single texture that you'll probably never going to see properly 418th Step - a single step improvement to fit the lore better Any many more in the Misc section of our guide. It's these small mods that you don't really notice until you actually notice them, the mods that change insignificant details that make the complete Skyrim STEP experience what it ultimately is. We've had a bunny retexture for years in the guide, remember? :)

Legendary Unofficial Patch???
rootsrat replied to EssArrBee's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I have also voted yes. As for the users that don't have all the DLC's - they've been on offers so many times, as was Skyrim: Legendary Edition that I don't really feel sorry for them, as harsh as it may sound. -
I have GTX660 2GB too and I didn't have to trim anything down in enbseries.ini file when using Skylight ENB, it runs perfectly fine. If the issue occurs only when using Skylight ENB then enblocal.ini won't matter, as it has nothing to do with processing. @OP does your framerate goes back up when you disable ENB in game (default Shift+F12)? Also, check that you are not accidentally pressing FPS limiter hotkey (and that the limiter is not set to some ridiculous value). It happened to me before and I spend over a week trying to figure it out... I ditched my mod set up at the time and started everything from scratch. I lost 2 months worth of building my mod set up, making patches etc. I then lost another month trying to recreate everything from scratch. Finally I found out that all I was doing, was pressing the FPS limiter hotkey accidentally O_o You can imagine how happy I was, NOT!
-
It depends on the actual value. For example all "curve" values are like contrast, so by increasing it you actually making the blacks darker (sorry, Photoshop jargon kicks in automatically), and by decreasing it you reduce contrast, and hence make the blacks lighter. Somer other value (intensity perhaps? I cannot recall now, it's been a while...) correspond to the actual brightness level and by increasing it you will make everything lighter. Then you have different type of lighting that ENB affects (ambient, point etc.). I'm currently at work and busy, but when I get a spare moment I'll download Skylight ENB from Nexus and post some more info for ya what to tinker with.
-
Correct. I was merely pointing :)
-
It's not a bug as such, but I notice that in Mod Organizer detailed instructions page it says this: It's a known fact that the least strain for human eyes is black text on white background. Taking into consideration how much time users (especially newbies) will spend with MO maybe we should recommend a different theme choice? ::EDIT:: In LOOT's detailed instructions it says: There should be another point asking to untick "Close MO when started" option, which is selected by default.

Here - see point 1 in the 3rd paragraph.
