Nice one, thanks for the info. I've been immensely busy with work and didn't really have much time to look into modding or updating the guide. I have loads of mods to test and I want to update some other parts of the guide too. Hopefully I'll find some time this weekend... Watch this space! :)

Yeah, effectively it's Wipeout on wheels. I played both (and loved both! WO is also one of my fav games of old times!) and I think RC was honestly better. It's faster and more dynamic than WO, the tracks were more interesting and better designed and the soundtrack was more to my liking :) I really really hope Grip succeeds.

Does anyone remember Rollcage 1 and 2 for Playstation? They are my most favourite PSX games ever! It's futuristic, very fast paced racing of cars with weapons. Slipstream/Wipeout kind of a game, but on wheels and with absolutely amazing soundtrack (Aphordite, EZ Rollers etc.): I was very happy to found out that it's being remade! So I went to their Kickstarter in order to throw some money at them, only to find out that the KS has been cancelled due to not enough funds being collected. The developers didn't give up however and now they're having a new campaign directly on their website. The game is now on Steam Early Access and the first playable build is supposed to be released no later than 30th November 2015 (if they won't meet the deadline they'll refund all the money gathered so far). I'd encourage you to go to their website and check it out! It looks really cool. They have a separate page full of GIFs you can have a look at (warning - bandwidth intensive!) and a separate one with media content. If you like the sound of it please support the project, as it looks like it's going to be a great remake with an equally amazing soundtrack.

Thanks, I never came across this! I'll add the information to the guide. No problem, my pleasure! :)

1. Is this the error you get during script compilation? 2. Can you paste contents of your mods.settings file please. 3. In the meantime try this: uninstall 1 patch at a time and see if the game starts. 4. Are you using any extra mods that aren't in the guide?

I just found out that planetary landings in SC won't be seamless - the whole landing is just an interactive cutscene, where player has no control over their ship. Meh. -
Right, so I've spent the last few days testing various mods and the Script Merger tool and I must say that I'm not convinced to this tool. I think it's OK to merge 1-2 line scripts, but for more sophisticated scripts and the ones that overlap each other it fails to merge them correctly. I was going to add it to the guide, but I ditched it and I'll continue to provide manually created patches for the mods used in the guide. I've been also working on my More Realistic Food and Drink mod, balancing out the HP regeneration rates and I think I've finally found a good set up where the food/drink is not OP. Some other mods that I was testing didn't work out or were too difficult for the script merger to handle. In the end, for this update I focused on updating some mods that weren't working correctly due to faulty Script Merger patches and a couple more. 30/08/2015General changes:Guide section changes:Mods Updated:Assorted Mod Patches - Effects-XMLNew 1.1 version installed to resolve conflict between MRFAD and GILL modsUninstall the old version and install the new versionAssorted Mod Patches - PlayerInputNew 1.1 version installed to resolve conflict between PM2i1, Close Cam and HUD Key TogglesUninstall the old version and install the new versionAssorted Mod Patches - PlayerWitcherNew patch for PlayerWitcher.ws script installed to resolve conflict between Cutscene Lighting Mod and No Auto Sword SheatheBuffs Moved to BottomMod name changed to Buffs RepositionedFile "modBuffsPosition (Bottom)" uninstalled and "modBuffsPosition (Bottom Higher)" optional file installed (to make the bottom row of buffs visible)HUD Key TogglesNew 1.02 version installedUninstall old version and install new versionDocuments\The Witcher 3\input.settings file edited - delete all the "IK_F4" related entriesMore Realistic Food And DrinkUninstall the old 1.0 version and install the new 1.1 versionNo Talk IconUninstalled "No Talk Icon (and no button prompt)" optional file andInstalled the Main "No Talk Icon" file insteadPhotoMode 2inOneNew version 2.3.0 installedUninstall the mod and follow the new instructionsMods Removed:Mods Added:Dearg Ruadhri - The Wild Hunt Redesign

Wow, that's impressive! Performance is ridiculous, but if they optimise it... -

Nice one, thanks for the details Mr Prince :) -
No, I haven't come across this so far. Adding/removing mods mid playthrough does not invalidate the saved games. Bear in mind it is the case for official DLCs - once you save a game with a DLC active you need to keep it for this playthrough.
-
I only used to try and merge PhotoMode 2inOne and HUD Key Toggles, but it failed, as there were overlapping lines of code. It works great undoubteldy, but I think the more mods you need to merge the worse it gets. It's a great tool nevertheless!

Thanks mate. Are you sure nothing has changed? A great spot to test performance hit is Hangmen Tree (not sure what it's called in English - maybe Tree of the Hangmen), fast travel to it, face away from the road - there is a bunch of ghouls there. Run in that direction and after the ghouls is a pack of wolves. Past the wolves is a little valley you can look upon - that's where the performance hits most, especially for shadows, grass and foliage visibility range. As for LOD, Skellige area is great to test that (lots of open space on the water where you can see into the distance) and some places where you can see far away mountains. Use the vanilla settings file, make a save in one of those spots, don't move your mouse a bit, take a screen shot, exit the game, apply the modified settings file, load up the save, don't move your mouse and take another screenshot - compare the 2 and see if there is any difference. Alternatively you can have a look at this topic: https://www.gry-online.pl/S043.asp?ID=13706243&N=1. The guy is using very similar changes to mine (more powerful though, as he has a monster PC). In fact I learned a lot from him. Scroll to the bottom, where it says "Porównawcze screeny" - these are the comparison shots. 1st screen is Vanilla Ultra and 2nd is modded game. Screen Nr 1 - difference in water, shadows, LOD, mist LOD Screen Nr 2 - difference in water, shadows, textures - see the house in the distance.Screen 3 - house in the distance, roof, close and far shadows Screen 4 - distant shadows (trees)Screen 5 - Water, particle effects on the water, LOD6 and 7 - LOD If you introduce my changes and can't see any difference or performance hit, push it further for shadow quality and distance and also push the settings in [Rendering/SpeedTree] and [Foliage] sections.

I'll get to updating and patching Cutscene Lighting in the next update. I wanted to bring the guide to what I've had installed - I was way ahead of it and I was losing consistency between my game and the guide :P Now it's time to bring everything up to date with Nexus :)

21/08/2015 General changes: Fixed a typo for mods.settings file (it's mods.settings and not mod.settings - rename as appropriate!). Added information and instructions regarding using mod patches and troubleshooting mod conflicts with mods.settings file. Guide section changes: Changed HUD and Display to HUD and UI. Added new section: Patches Mods Updated: No Talk Icon Changed the file used to optional No Talk Icon (and no button prompt) instead of the main No Talk Icon one. Uninstall the mod and follow the instructions again. See the warning above regarding NMM bug when uninstalling mods! Mods Removed: Main Map Zoom mod (replaced by World Map Unlimited Zoom). Uninstall the mod. Remove \game\gui\menus\mapMenu.ws from all the other mods with scripts. This workaround is no longer required for the new mod. It will make installing new mods with scripts much easier. Mods Added: Assorted Mod Patches Gear Improvements Last Longer Random Gameplay Tweaks - (Stamina) 10 Sec No Cost Sprint file World Map Unlimited Zoom Note this mod doesn't have fast travel from anywhere functionality. This will be added as a separate mod as soon as I will upload the patch for it. Spawn Companion console command

I'll be trying to release compatibility patches for all the mods on the guide. There'll be couple released with the next update.

Thanks for the feedback and your suggestions guys, much appreciated! HairWorks on Everything but Geralt - I tried to install this some time ago and I couldn't get it to work. I am going to revisit this mod at some point. Glad to hear it's been converted to ModKit version! AutoLoot - I've had a look at this mod before, but I didn't like the idea. I prefer to control and see what I'm looting. Roleplaying purposes mainly. Disable storybook vids - I didn't finish the game yet, so I am not using the mod yet, because I want to see all the slides :) I also have a different idea how to tackle this - the other day my sound card switched itself to 7.1 mode (I have stereo speakers) and the voiceover from these videos was muted (i.e. being played from a non-existing speaker). It was really cool effect! I think the comicbook-like slides are really cool, it's just the voiceover that is annoying. I am going to look at disabling the voice files and leaving the slides and music only. It looks very cool! If this won't work and when I finally finish the game for the first time I'll definitely have a look at this mod. Skip Movies - I prefer to keep the movies in, sometimes I feel like watching the full intro when I start the game. You can just skip them with space. No biggie to me and I prefer to avoid adding mods that 1) I didn't fully test and 2) are not really needed - for the sake of consistency and to keep the guide as conflict free as possible (I know it's only the videos, but it's a principle I decided to stick to.) Rest assured though that new mods will be added to the guide - I have 50 mods in total waiting to be checked or already being in the testing queue ;)

Gotcha. As for the patches, I'll need to get permission from couple of authors and I'll release the patches that I made. They're separate mods and all you have to do then is control the load order via mod.settings file in My Docs\Witcher 3, where your user.settings file is. No need to copy stuff all over the place. That's one of the reason I'll be removing the current map zoom mod, it's just a dirty method of dealing with mod conflicts :/ Separate patches and mod.settings is clean and a lot less tedious. :edit: BTW... :) 20/08/2015Configuration file changes:Added many more settings to be edited to increase visual quality of the game under III. Thanks Will, nice one! Is this the ModKit version of this mod? Gwent Redone and Alternate Art If so, is it art only or the tweaks as well? And are you going to upload it to Nexus? :)
-
Ah, yes, I came across this. It's seems like a bug with NMM. Thanks for reminding me, I was going to report it. It looks that NMM doesn't always remove the mods when you uninstall them using the program. The workaround for this is to deactivate the mod in NMM and then manually check the mods folder if it was actually removed. I am going to add a note about this in the next update. Also - heads up, Main Map Zoom is being replaced with World Map Unlimited Zoom, which does not require copying the script to all the other mods (this was just ridiculous). It requires Fast Travel Anywhere to be installed separately and a patch applied - the latter won't be available for a while, so if you don't mind not having the fast travel mod you can just uninstall the Map mod, remove it's script from all the other mods and install World Map Unlimited Zoom (it's easy, just activate the mod in NMM). ::EDIT:: You can head over to the bug report I submitted and confirm the issue if you want: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?app=tracker&showissue=42214 - hopefully they'll look into this.
-
Hm... That's strange. I have it installed and the other bits of this mod work correctly for me. Did you follow the guide fully? I'm in the process of making custom patches for the guide and I already have a permission from couple of mod authors to upload them to Nexus as an assorted collection. I'll need to contact couple more people and then I'll release them to ensure max compatibility.

Hi guys. Help request! :) I need some help testing a mod if anyone's willing to. No Auto Sword Sheathe - Unsheathe: Optional files: No Auto Sword Unsheathe updated to version 1.1NEW FILE >> Optional files: Combat Distance Fix (with manual combat stance toggle) file added - see installation instructionsThis new file, Combat Distance Fix allows to deflect arrows from farther away than vanilla, but I'm not convinced if it's working or if it's a placebo... I'd appreciate if anyone could test it and feedback the results. Thanks!
