Thanks mate, I'm also looking forward to expanding the guide! Like I said, I won't be using any mods that change the mechanics for now, as I want to experience the vanilla game first to be able to assess which aspects of the game could use some improvements (already have a few ideas...), therefore the guide will mainly focus on audio, visual and lore mods plus setting files tweaking to achieve best performance vs visual fidelity ratio :) Ergo - don't expect a massive amount of mods to be added anytime soon, I definitely want to focus on fiddling with the setting files first, as you can improve the game greatly just by using the tweaks. Cheers for spotting the errors, I'll correct them asap!

Thanks, I'll keep updating the guide as I go :) Where's that, sorry? I can't see anything like that. (Unless already fixed).

I didn't include any mods that change mechanics or gameplay for now. I haven't finished the game either and I want to do a full vanilla playthourgh. I've only added a free cam / console mod and couple of model mods that apply certain outfit (or lack thereof) at certain scenes in game where it makes sense, and a ReShade preset to make the game look pretty. And modified cofig files for better LOD, drawing distance etc. I definitely want to experience vanilla playthrough game-play wise first!

I think it was a tad easier in W1 - you've just had an Overwrite directory where you pasted all the modfiles and that was it. I didn't mod W2, so no comments there. At the moment in W3 all the modifications are made by editing the bundle files, but it's a bit tricky, as they HAVE to be exactly same size before and after, including uncompressed and compressed size. The easiest way to achieve that is to remove/add meaningless characters (i.e. comments-like) to maintain exactly same total number of characters in the file contents. A few modders said it can be quite tricky, mainly for the compressed file size... From the user point of view it's dead easy though, as most mods either require a simple copy-paste job or provide an installation bat file. We'll see what happens when Red Kit comes out. I can't wait for that!

NO LONGER SUPPORTED!!!! Introducing: The Return Of The White Wolf: Witcher 3 Modding Guide by rootsrat Wiki Link RETURN OF THE WHITE WOLF THE MODDING GUIDE This guide's main aim is to make the game a better experience, improving all of the game aspects to make it more challenging and realistic, better scaled and prettier to play, while remaining friendly to The Witcher universe lore, including the previous games and the books. This part is very important to me, so you can rest assured that if you follow this guide, you'll get The Witcher experience as close to the books as possible and the one that will be realistic and serious. Please be aware of your hardware limitations. If you are struggling to get the game running on Ultra/Uber details, you'll probably want to skip the configuration file modifications. The guide will be updated with new mods and better tools as they are released, so expect a lot of changes until all the basic tools are released and modding scene for Witcher 3 matures. The game itself is also being updated and the developers are working on the bugs, with the updates being released every so often, so please also bear in mind that the guide is written for the specific version of the game and may not work with the future versions of The Witcher 3. I will make clear indication which game version is the guide for. Another thing to note is that I am using GOG Galaxy version of The Witcher 3, not the Steam version, so adjust all the file paths accordingly if you use Steam instead of GOG Galaxy. The guide is using step-by-method to instruct users how to install the mods. It's listed from top down and it is advised to install the mods in that order to make sure that all directions are followed correctly and no steps are missed.

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
rootsrat replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I have a Polish version. It's MO's bug, not FNV4GB. Someone else was having the same problem and it's been confirmed it's MO's fault. It was a few MO versions ago. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
rootsrat replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I'm still unable to run the game with FNV4GB via MO because of the problem with a different steam id... Does anyone know if Tannin is planning to fix that anytime soon? I'm gutted! -
Ah ok, thanks for clarifying

Modding-wise I came across this recently: https://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2015/05/make-gta-v-even-more-insane-with-these-10-mad-mods/ I've also read that R* banned mods for GTA V, but can't remember where I read about it.

I accidentally came across this video today and STEP is getting a mention :)

Nice one, eh? Another code is MODS (source: Brodual) ::EDIT:: I'm just going to leave this here: https://www.g2a.com/weeklysale This is absolute madness! How's that even possible?!
-
I know, right? I've already bought 5 or 6 games since i discovered the site 3 days ago. It's ridiculous!

Many of you probably are aware of that website, but I've only discovered it recently. G2A - extremely cheap games, all are auctions by users, mainly of Steam game keys (unused). To give you an idea, I picked up ESO Imperial Edition yesterday for just short of £14 - and it costs £70 on Steam. MASSIVE bargain! They add VAT to the actual game price (depending on where you live) and also a small charge for using PayPal (not sure about the other payment methods), but it still comes up to peanuts for most games. The least discount is obviously on the latest games, but in most cases you can still pick them up for less than on Steam.
-
In regards to 970 - I have one (ASUS Strix) and I've never noticed any problems. Running heavily modded Skyrim (over 400 mods) and some latest games like Elite Dangerous and GTA V, no problems whatsoever. The 970 "memorygate" is an exaggerated problem IMHO. Tinfoil hat anyone?

I play it on PC. It's really good, but I didn't expect anything else. It's got quite hefty requirements though. There are some post processors available already and they make it look really amazing if you've got a rig for it. It is an open world game in a sense that you can go anywhere at any time. There are 3 main characters you can freely switch between most of the time. The game is very politically incorrect (whatever that means nowadays, I use the term very loosely). What I always loved GTA games for though is extremely satirical and ironic black comedy style representation of everything that's wrong with the modern society. GTA V does not disappoint in that respect, it's hilarious in a twisted way, a reality reflected in a distorted mirror.
-
And play on easy - this will allow you to run over your enemies in fast forward mode :)
-
Just for the sake of argument - this mod allows you to control your horses in a much better way than vanilla and allows for your followers to use horses, which makes the game more believeable and allows for better immersion in the game world in effect :) In vanilla all you can do it mount/dismount and that's it. The followers don't use horses, they just run after you like a bunch of idiots. Not very immersive.

TES5EDIT error - unable to copy quest Script records to a patch ESP
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in xEdit Support
Check the updates in my post above guys, I figured it out finally. Thanks, I wasn't aware of that I am using 3.0.32 indeed, didn't know 33 was out! Thanks :) Oh well, at least I learned something new :P ::EDIT:: Where can I get 3.0.33? It's not on Nexus. ::EDIT:: Nevermind, found it ;) -
TES5EDIT error - unable to copy quest Script records to a patch ESP
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in xEdit Support
Hey there. Here's the file. I'm using xEdit 1.75, but it's irrelevant, as I am moving the records manually. I am not merging any files (however my custom ESP does contain some merged mods - mostly patches for other mods). ::EDIT:: OK, have some further info. I messed up with the individual rows in this record and here's the culprit I think: See the highlighted bit. So I unticked "Show only conflicting rows", deleted all the conflicting and broken rows, and started to move them over one by one. When I moved the one that's highlighted, I noticed the Bool value in it is False, as in the USKP, however it says "Warning: Expected 1 bytes of data, found 4". NOTE: TES5Edit still finds that as a non-conflicting entry - I suspect because the field's value itself is identical to the other ESPs. Extremely strange, never seen that before. This is obviously boolean, so it SHOULD be 1 bye (1 or 0, true or false), but for some reason, when I drag and drop the USKP (or Vanilla for that matter) entry it's treated as 4 bytes... What's going on here? -- I type as I dabble in T5E, so here's the update: When I "Edit" this entry it does only display False as it's value. When I click on the entry, I can actually select the value from a drop down list. Selecting True and then selecting False again made the error disappear: I guess I'll need to copy the whole VMAD group and then find all the erroneous entries and fix them manually as per the above. I'll report back. ::EDIT:: As I suspected, this has fixed my issue. Hopefully this will come handy to someone! -
TES5EDIT error - unable to copy quest Script records to a patch ESP
rootsrat posted a question in xEdit Support
I have this strange problem with The Heart of Dibella (FormID: 00023B6C) quest in TES5EDIT. Whenever I copy over the relevant conflicting entries to my custom ESP patch it seems that the records are copied over correctly, the file is getting saved correctly and yet when I reopen it in T5E the erroneous entries reappear. 1) The initial state 2) Fixed 3) Reopened file Any ideas...? -
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60934/? This changes the dragon animations so that they appear more dangerous and majestic.

"Immersive Patrols" and unrecognized
rootsrat replied to TheMerryPloughboy's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I think it's because the esp has changed over the course of mod development and boss recognised one of the old esps but not the new one. -
Ooh, that's great news, I'll save an ESP slot for that :)
