FEEDBACK v2.2.0 - Feedback & Bug Reports
Simondererste replied to z929669's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Can't edit https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/SkyrimSE:2.2.0#DynDOLOD because i either dont have the permission to do so (edit source) or server not responding (maybe also just missing feedback about missing permissions). Anyway, link under https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/SkyrimSE:2.2.0#DynDOLOD for Performance Tuning instructions links to the 2.0.0 Guide instead of 2.2.0. Realized that after seeing target fps being 95 instead of 120. So someone who can might want to switch 0->2 to go from Performance Tuning instructions to Performance Tuning instructions. -

I'm thinking of modifying my newly made STEP with some of the mods and instructions made here. Which mod is better, the mentioned NARC or Critters Ain't Snitches? -
bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.3.0b - Official Bug Reports
Simondererste replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
"Don't load a from a save when first launching after a fresh Guide installation but rather Start a new game!" Don't load a what from a save? It's either: Don't load from a save when first launching ... or Don't load a save when first launching ... (this might not be correct this way but might be formed into a proper sentence) I already read it more then once -

bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.3.0b - Official Bug Reports
Simondererste replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
I'm also right there at the tree generation. Now it says: Generate tree LOD (this should be greyed out as 'N/A', due to TreeLOD=0 DynDOLOD.ini setting) Create texture atlas Generate tree LOD so it's written twice. Btw i don't get the explenation. I should ensure that it's ticked but can't because it's geyed out? Just let it out if it shouldn't be ticked. I'm a bit confused Another small mistake is under First Lunch: "Don't load a from a save" the first a can be left out. Seems like there where 2 versions of a sentence mixed up. -

Descriptions mentions: "If you have DynDOLOD installed, use this version instead." and as you have DynDOLOD when following the guide it might be the option to choose for STEP? Wiki page for it doesn't mention any preference and both Main Files are fairly new, so i didn't know if there was already any knowledge about which of the two versions is better and if one could even be harmful.- 12 replies

Are the Recommendations out of date, or are the other options, not present in it, not STEP friendly? As the file is old enough, i assume, that only the recommended options should be taken.

bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.3.0b - Official Bug Reports
Simondererste replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Thanks, but for me as a non-native English speaker, the clarification made it harder to understand it (maybe because of the structure of the sentence?). I needed a lot more mental concentration to get it now, compared to the old version. The old one just needed visual aid to stand out for people who are deviating from recommendations, especially as it was the last sentence in the paragraph. Also with "Users deviating from our recommendations ...", people will be able to detect nearly instantly, if the rest of the notice will even be applicable for their installation/situation and therefore are able to be faster and save energy when going through the guide, if they don't need this notice. "Be certain to note any such deviations for later reference.", or "Make sure to ..." might be added as a second sentence to it, for extra emphasize. So tldr: I think "Users deviating from our recommendations will need to adjust the instructions in our guides accordingly. Make sure to note any such deviations for later reference." as a Notice is better. Typo in LOOT instructions: Several several plugins will show warnings In Section LOOT i didn't get what executables drop-down menu was at first(top right drop down menu left of run). maybe at an image to it: In Section Moving the Cleaned Files under Cleaned Masters point 3: Move this mod up the MO mod list to just after "DLC: Dawnguard". but Dragonborn.esm is the last mod before Overwrite as stated in the guide before and afterwards. So i suspect it should be just after Dragonborn? double are in step patches section: Thus, the STEP Patches are are one part also in this section: "We recommend keeping the forum topic from the link open for referencing the list of required mods. This is helpful for users deciding whether or not to install a mod that may be required by the Patches." could be replaced with: "Indicated by a green vertical bar in the upcoming mod tables.( This is helpful for users deciding whether or not to install a mod that may be required by the Patches.)". Part in brackets only maybe. -

Propose to make "Users deviating from our recommendations will need to adjust the instructions in our guides accordingly." bold or even better into a notice (maybe the small one with a line above and beyond) as other things further down have. There are things which might be a bit sneaky like '-o:"C:\Modding\Tools\xLODGen\xLODGen_Output\"' in the Tool Setup Table which could be missed. (I definitely saw it, i swear! ) -
GUIDE System Setup Guide - SSG
Simondererste replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Modding Platform
Thanks a lot for your explanations. It's really awesome to see all this great work that is put into STEP by all the members and especially the small staff. I can totally understand your point and feel like you already did a really great job to get this wide of an audience on board! It's kinda funny that physical copies nowadays have steam on it. Haven't purchased one in years. Still have a big backlog of games in my library . I also wasn't sure about the install path for MO2. My mindset was, that i wanted as little as possible on my SSD(s) and if possible nothing on my C drive, which should only include my OS and wouldn't have enough free space. I feared that MO2 needs to be on the OS drive. After asking in the MO2 Discord about it, i decided to put all my tools in F:\Modding_tools. It's close to the root and structure is fine, as it is not the gamefolder and there are not a lot of other folders on the root of my F drive(which is on a different SSD than C). Skyrim is also on F. Only my downloads and backups are on an HDD.- 34 replies

GUIDE System Setup Guide - SSG
Simondererste replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Modding Platform
After changing 2 minor 'typos' i would like to ask, (1)what is the reason to use a new Steam installation? (2)Also, why does the place of Steam matter? The steam instruction link under 'Moving Steam and Installed Games'(, which is great!,) already shows how to install a game in any location with the help of 'Steam Library Folders'. I got a little confused under the section 'Steam Installation' by "...many users opt to install their games to a separate drive reserved for game installations." as the text is talking about games but refers to Steam. Similarly this was odd for me too: "Steam can be installed one of two ways: Purchase the physical copy of the game from a retailer:"but reading further it seems like there are game disks that still need steam and preinstall it with the games disk? So this might be ok. I never had this so it looked odd for me. I feel like there is a lot of text that is not needed for me because i already have things like file extensions on and think that some steps are probably only optional, but it is probably a good amount for people who don't feel so confident in their pc/modding-knowledge and want something more in depth. However it's not optimal for doing it fast(maybe i or someone can produce a "dumbed down" version). i would suggest to add a (if applicable) to the "Overlays" section-title and an optional to "Display Calibration", "AMD" and "Nvidia". Please correct me if "Video Card Setup" is mandatory besides "Update Display Drivers". I think the specific settings are either optional or at least can be done after all the modding is done and it should be somewhere in the guide, so people can skip it first. At least i couldn't find something that is essential for a normal STEP install in Nvidia settings guide/Nvidia Inspector. Clarification why i want some of those changes: I think too much of a text-wall might deter people from going through with a STEP install, even so they can skip a lot and still be successful with it. In addition i like to be able to get through it faster even when i already forgot which sections aren't important (for my setup).- 34 replies

Can someone check and confirm that the second link to the tool i added is correct and it is the same program and STEP does not specifically need the older version? If github is fine, we may want to delete the guru3d link?!

bug STEP v2.10.0 Official Bug Reports
Simondererste replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
So far no major issues with my STEP:Extended installation i finished today. Ran 1-2hours around today just to test with Skyrim performance monitor running. Solid 50+ fps average. quite happy, as i mostly took the higher quality options and was already afraid of too low fps and stutter. No ctd in normal play yet. Thanks a lot. I might have some remarks concerning the step guide and some minor typos and stuff. -
Seeing forward to the new NMM. If it doesn't satisfies my(or anyone) needs i stay with the "old" MO which i really love. I whish Tannin and everyone working for the new NMM a lot of success with it.
