32 then i started modding and find STEP. On the one hand it's very funny and understandable but on the other hand very very unsatisfying and sad. STEP core should be a guide where you can get fast into playing the game. I love to mod my games and already modded things in other games so i don't care that much. Maybe i will do a STEP:Core-Prepack or something like that what is really easy and fast to install + it strictly stays to vanilla, so before you start modding new things into Skyrim you will get the vanilla feeling and looking. Maybe the STEP guide just gave me too many information, so i had to dig deeper into Skyrim modding . (NO: ) ^^ Hopefully i can continue with my char, because i don't really want to begin another char. I love my stealth lonely assassin but i hate the main quest. Don't really follow the main quest and refuse to be the Dragonborn! Man i am an unknown stranger who does what he wants especially in the dark and don't care much about life of others in Skyrim, as long as i can get an advantage of her/him . Btw is there a mod so i don't have to be the dragonborn? I don't like to be called a hero by a howl town!(Man i murder their guards at night ).

Limitation of Configurator Plugin
Simondererste replied to Simondererste's question in Mod Organizer Support
Good that i ask, because that tells me, that something is wrong or at least it is working inconsistently. I made some comparison with/out,=3,=7 and didn't see a change in the game, where i was. Maybe it changes somewhere else but without any mod it doesn't seem to do something ingame. And as i was switching through my profiles and see if i can change iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure i don't find this option but a failure in one of my profiles: Ini editor and the ini's are looking fine. What have i done -
Ty for your answer DoubleYou. My approach was: Doing 1. and 2. of the Skyrim Launcher guide outside of MO(through steam). And then the rest is done in MO. So now i have the automatic detected setting and the right resolution. Any change will be done through MO. No need to start Skyrim outside of MO again => vanilla inis won't be changed anymore and so can work as a backup. Changing anything of that is already altering the vanilla state, which may be needed for a heavy modded profile, but maybe not for all(lighter once). Another thing i noticed: Install mods in the order that they are presented in the following tables in order to achieve the desired result. This note from Final Pre-Installation Notes doesn't satisfy me as a MO user and may be changed in 2.2.9. So that most of the STEP users will use MO especially the lesser informed users this is not 100% precise. You can download and install mods whenever you want with MO! Important to achieve the desired STEP result is: Mod priority order on the left pane of MO(which can be easily changed with no respect to download/install time) Checking the BSA or only checking ESP(dummy ESPs shouldn't be checked but their BSAs)[MO is automatically checking the esp when you activate the mod but not the BSA?!?] Load order in the right pane under Plugin tab(should be handled by LOOT)If it the STEP guide makes those clear, at least 1. and 2. the STEP user don't need to worry about ordering at all(even if MO gives a warning). 3. is just: Install LOOT, run it, be happy, if the user strictly follows the (core)guide, and if LOOT order is the desired one(else add: then move esp to x-priority).

Hardware (new Mobo/CPU) - need suggestions/help
Simondererste replied to rootsrat's topic in Step Banter Inn
Maybe those?(didn't checked if they fit your stuff :) ) -
nope. I have taken 18+ screens like those 2 with different settings + different actions. no weapon dagger bow 1p 3p ... but whatever. I need to infest far more hours into skyrim modding till i really can say what is useless and what is not. My biggest fear is that i just did a mistake and it didn't changed anything in game.

New wave of Nexus Endorsements
Simondererste replied to DanielCoffey's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
It's nice that MO reminds me, that i didn't endorsed a mod, because i don't want to do it without really testing/using the mod. Testing and experiencing a mod takes quite some time and after that i might have forgotten, that i didn't endorsed it or be lost in the world of Skyrim . Just my small thoughts on that despite it's a bit ot . -
Linked to this thread instead of the YOU CAN HELP link which leads to an 404(i guess the forum transition caused some dead links). Don't know if this thread was meant but couldn't find something similar.

Step 2.2.8 recommends this ini setting in skyrim.ini: [Grass] iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure = 3 [;increase grass diversity with a small cost to performance (yes, 'texure' and not 'texture'). Consider setting to 7 if using Skyrim Flora Overhaul.] As i first tried to edit everything with the configurator(advanced) to make no mistakes i figured out, that i had no option to choose this edition to the ini. So is the configurator limited to change only some certain lines it already knows? I tested, if the configurator is looking up what is already in the ini. So i added the missing line to my vanilla ini with the ini editor inside MO. After that i still couldn't change the value with the configurator. I also did a restart and an edit without the comments([;increase grass diversity...), but still only bAllowCreateGrass and bAllowLoadGrass could be changed with the configurator. Subquestions: a)What is the vanilla value? (when there is no iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure in the ini defined) b)Will it have an affect on vanilla skyrim+dlc's(without any mods)?
-
Oh i thought if i copy from my Vanilla+dlc profile it will also take those ini files. So does it in fact always take the ini that where created by the first start? I thought if you have a vanilla profile on what you can fall back it would be a nice way to verify if a new mod is working and so you can make a nice easy comparison(hm maybe i just need to do this through start with steam or will this mess up ini files or anything else?). Another thing: I can't tell the difference between normal settings and tweaked ini settings for [Combat] ;Shift the point of aim to the center of the aiming reticule for arrows and crossbows. ... swift may be just through unsteady aiming. Don't know. I will keep it in also i can't tell the difference.

Do you really have to start skyrim launcher AND then also open options menu or can't you just do this already within MO? Also i wouldn't recommend changing any setting if you have to start it once(and open option menu)[maybe just first detection but not more], because you will do it later within MO and it's profiles. So i would move anything that changes something with vanilla skyrim in the STEP guide after MO, so your changes will only be in the MO profiles. I set up a Vanilla+DLC profile, so i can change fast between settings, to test changes(new mods/profiles). To do so i start the skyrim launcher through MO. [i prefer a chronological order so i also would install at the end of the mod installation but you may have discussed those things in the past]

Hardware (new Mobo/CPU) - need suggestions/help
Simondererste replied to rootsrat's topic in Step Banter Inn
Brocken 2 ftw ^^ Attention! Your pc case need to be big enough for the cpu cooler you choose! EKL Alpenföhn Brocken 2 or Thermalright HR-02 Macho both ~36€ i think those two are enough. most better ones are much more expensive(and not worth it?) (Stock cooler s**K) another source of noise is the power supply. Choose a quality one with NOT too much power, or it will work with less efficiency. -
Hardware (new Mobo/CPU) - need suggestions/help
Simondererste replied to rootsrat's topic in Step Banter Inn
I think the best and cheapest suggestion is, to stay with win 7. there is no point in using win 8 as a pc OS. Your stuff looks good to me. I upgraded from a gts 8800(can you find it :P ) and an intel core 2duo e6600 ~1/2-1year ago to my actual stuff. If you really want new stuff, see mine ;) ok i think you can get a better gpu than me. I think it is now the ti edition from mine. Maybe mine or the ti is still too expensive(mine defenetly was!) so go with a cheaper one. CPU: i5 should be enough if you don't want to render videos or something special. You don't need to go with the k version(you can oc those). GPU: ~780 ti(too expensive?!) mobo: ~60-100€ they are mostly the same. don't go with any gamer edition(they are too expensive). i looked for durability, because i want to use mine for longer than 2 years. i'm no expert but i did some research for my setup. Thumb rule: don't buy the most expensive one! don't believe me anything but i think i'm not too wrong ;) oh and soundcards: NOT needed only if you have really good speakers(above 200€) and you have good ears. The onboard sound is pretty good for ~90% of people. watch out for loud things!!! if your pc sound like a jet it's the worst! get a nice case and get a CPU COOLER!(best invested money) + SSD + a silent graka! -
GUIDE Skyrim Installation Guide
Simondererste replied to frihyland's topic in Unofficial Skyrim LE Guides
Can anyone add a picture from a clean vanilla Skyrim and Skyrim/Data folder to this guide or anywhere? Something like: As you can see, mine isn't as clean as it should be :) Also if non Steam version looks different there should be an upload from it too. there are none(but uplay version?whatever) -
GUIDE FORUM THREAD leads to an 404 instead of directing the users to this thread. And also those: recommendations of ENB Profiles go here, and for ENB Support go here.

In short: IMO humans are also "just machines" only very very complex and i don't get surprised, if we may invent a machine that has something similar to our intelligence(soome day in the fuutuure). I don't think that we will get surprised by an invention over night but it is already happening, that our machines get smarter and smarter. Let the Terminators come

So as i get more and more confused, by reading about BSAs i have to ask here, if this is still the case? I mainly would like to have my Skyrim with 100~200 mods that are REALLY active and SHOWN in game! It would be sad if i have that many mods but they aren't active in game(overwritten etc) and i wouldn't recognize it till i check every single mod(no sir i don't want to do it please ). So because i read : in the Ramifications of BSA Extraction in Mod Organizer and with respect to its date i would think that this information is more valid than what is stated in this thread here. And i would like to have a STEP recommendation on what to do in MO with mods that have BSAs and ESPs. If i just install it in MO the ESP get's automatically checked by MO so i get a warning in the Archives tab(for the BSAs), where it doesn't get checked. So now as a newbie i don't have a clue if this is wanted by STEP or not(same with conflicts); normally i would think STEP wants it, if it isn't stated otherwise. But then i have a warning mark which scares me . So after searching and reading for hours i couldn't find a STEP recommendation and i just found information that contradicts each other. I know now how the load ordering works(at least a good amount of it) and how MO should handle it(according to Ramifications of BSA Extraction in Mod Organizer, if this is correct, which i assume). Hope someone can tell me what is required to get the results STEP wants. You may take Appropriately Attired Jarls mod as an Example(which also has the .bsl file which is not listed under file types in the Skyrim Installation Guide[also readme and other sites makes it clear, that i can delete it]) I'm using MO 1.1.1 at the moment. (Sry for any english mistakes. It's not my native language, which also makes it harder to understand english guides)
-
Sry i somehow disrupting this thread but maybe the OP may want to know it too at some point when using MO. If i mark an esm/esp in the plugin tab sometimes i get a mark on the entry of the corresponding file in the archives tab. I would like to know if i have to check those marked entries or if they can stay unchecked?(Is there any advantages doing so?) Or do you have any advantages in just checking the archives tab(is it then even activated in the game?)? Most of my questions is answered in this thread: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/5033-ramifications-of-bsa-extraction-in-mod-organizer/

DROPPED Diverse Priests (by Captain Lhurgoyf)

Ok this description just confuses me. If i need it if i install a patch or not than why do i need this description? Do i just download it and activate it with MO and than deselect the esps? -
DROPPED Diverse Priests (by Captain Lhurgoyf)
Simondererste replied to Eliian's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Had the same issue like Shadow Nirvana. This description wasn't clear for me. Maybe something like "If you are using one of the STEP patches you don't need this mod." should be added to reduce confusion. This will be irrelevant if it gets dropped in 2.2.9. -
Works. Thank you for the fast fix.

Don't know how to change the link from the guide to the forum. It is giving you a 404 if you try to go to the forum. Maybe someone can fix that.

ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
Simondererste replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
As the AOS_2 Main File and the AOS_DLC_Compatibility_Patch optional file doesn't exist anymore and i would like to use the STEP Extended Patch which option should i check in the installer? (Also i didn't see an AOS_Unofficial_Skyrim_Patch for those who don't want to install the patches.) -
DROPPED Soul Gems Differ - Full and Empty (by Utopolyst)
Simondererste replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
It's just confusing that there is already a Soul Gems Differ - FOMOD file you can use from the Nexus site. Why don't use this one? Is the Bain installer new? Because you can also use it to install the recommended options(also it is slower). And why is there a Thumbs.db in the STEP fomod even so you don't use it? I can clearly see why people get problem with this. (Another thing is also language selection, but this is another topic i would guess.) Skyrim Redesign instruction made it pretty clear how to use it especially the file structure should be: Skyrim Redesigned-8954.7z34 individual folders prevented mistakes. Beside my critic i'm pretty happy S.T.E.P. exists and so many awesome people offer their work; thank you all!
