  1. I just went through the entire guide, and thank you very much for creating this BTW. I followed the directions and before getting to STEP 5 (LOD), I tried to launch the game via SKSE in MO2. It stays on the first loading screen indefinitely with the loading spinner, and my CPU stays at about 25%. Also, I'm seeing Overwrite files SKSE->Plugins->Fuz RoD'oh.ini and SkyrimUncapper.ini after launching. I'm not sure if those are supposed to be there now or not. If I switch to the Vanilla profile in MO2, the game does launch just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I was going through LOOT and doing some cleaning, and I came across a peculiar message involving 'FacegenForKids.esp', which is part of the Simple Children mod. I have an image below of this odd warning and wanted to ask if this is something I should go through editing in USSEP or is this something to just ignore?
  3. While trying out Rustic Clutter Collection I discovered a minor issue with the Ruins Clutter Improved bloody silverware blood decal. The bloody silverware (2 goblets and 1 jug) has a strange glow in the dark look to them, as can be seen here. With vanilla Skyrim + Ruins Clutter Improved only: here. They look mostly fine when illuminated. In case the images don't do it justice, basically in very dark lightning you see clear red rings that don't make sense. Ruins Clutter Improved adds new meshes with a new blood decal to go with it and when I disable these meshes to properly try out Rustic Clutter Collection, which doesn't add new meshes and don't 100% fit the ruins clutter improved meshes, I discovered that Enhanced Blood Textures completely messes things up as can be seen here. So removing the new meshes, with or without new textures, makes things worse imo and therefore isn't a viable resolution to the glow-in-the-dark look. I tried modifying the new meshes in NifSkope but that yielded only very modest improvements. Does anyone know or have suggestions for how I can tweak the meshes or blood decal to reduce or eliminate the glow-in-the-dark blood? Alternatively, a fix for the enhanced blood textures+vanilla meshes blood would also be appreciated because I can then use Rustic Clutter instead. I should add that this is an accurate depiction of my nifskoping skills
  4. Wrye Bash 307-Experimental Fallout 3/Fallout New Vegas/Oblivion/Skyrim patcher Update This thread is to discuss and troubleshoot implementation of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion and Skyrim patcher updates. This will be done using three different versions of Wrye Bash/Flash/Smash. Version 307.x will be primarily for Oblivion and Skyrim but anyone is more then welcome to test this version with Fallout. Since the current official releases for Fallout by Valda are working rather well and just need updating I will be providing links to those versions as well. I will use them as a baseline for the updates I am making to 307.x. New releases will be on my OneDrive or a Mediafire Link. Version 307.x also marks the beginning of implementing Fallout 3 and Fallout NV support thanks to WrinklyNinja's previous efforts and starting the process for version 304.3. Valda updated Wrye Flash for Fallout 3 (30.x) and Fallout New Vegas (16.0) based off of a much older version of Wrye Bash (292 I think). Valda is not currently helping me with updates so if I can't make the changes myself they will remain unresolved. Please be patient while I wait for new volunteers that have time to help make updates. To help with Bash Tags fireundubh has been kind enough to provide us with a beta script for xEdit that should work with all four versions. You can obtain Generate Bash Tags.pas from his GitHub repo. I am unaware of where you can post questions and bug reports at this time and I do not maintain that file so posting here will not get you the help you are looking for. find updates to the script in this thread. Please post all bug reports and requests in that thread. ATTN for Skyrim version: This version's Skyrim patcher is very new. Unless you know how to use TES5Edit and understand a great deal about plugins you may not want to use this version. Manual editing may be needed for the Bash patch to function correctly. Both Python and Standalone versions are available. Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas: If you are using 306.x for Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas the Bash Patch should not have many issues since the code already existed to handle all the routines in the previous versions. Please report any issues so they can be corrected. If you are using the official releases for FO3 and FNV they are very stable and quite usable in game. However, they do need updating so feel free to post issues you encounter with the Bash Patch. Links to 307.x for FO3/FNV/Oblivion/Skyrim/FO4: Wrye Bash 307.09_EXP - Python Source.7z - MediaFire, OneDrive Wrye Bash 307.09_EXP - Standalone Executable.7z - MediaFire, OneDrive Links to Wrye Flash by Valda: Wrye Flash for FO3 v31.5 - Python Source.7z - MediaFire, OneDrive Wrye Flash for FO3 v31.5 - Standalone Executable.7z - MediaFire, OneDrive Wrye Flash for FNV v17.4 - Python Source.7z - MediaFire, OneDrive Wrye Flash for FNV v17.4 - Standalone Executable.7z - MediaFire, OneDrive Bethesda WIpz threads for FO3/FNV/Skyrim/Oblivion/FO4 Updates: Skyrim Oblivion Fallout 3 Fallout NV Fallout 4 STEP Thread: Wrye Bash/Smash/Flash Experemental Patcher Updates What kind of testing am I looking for? I need people with a great deal of knowledge with Bash Tags and plugins to report errors with the Bash Patch for it's respective patchers. For example if a sound from a mod should have ended up in the bash patch but didn't, I need to know. The only bugs I am not interested in are Unicode related bugs. So if you go to install a mod and you get a Unicode error post that in the Wrye Bash thread. What I am not looking for in regards to version 306.x: The Python based patchers have never been updated that I am aware of. At least not for the last three years. If records do not carry over into the Bash Patch that clearly should be there I am not directly causing this. I am not experienced with Python enough to change the patcher's behaviour. I can only assign or update records and subrecords to their respective patchers. Once there are volunteers willing to help hopefully the patchers can be updated to produce a more accurate patch. In the meantime rather then assuming the patcher is buggy, I suggest checking all the Bash Tags by using the provided script. In regards to CBash for Oblivion, I will consider updating the Python code that tells CBash what to do. However, if after I make updates, if the same issue is still occurring, I will not be able to update CBash itself. 99% of the time any issues with CBash will originate from flawed Python code. Error reporting: Post the Game you are using (FO3/FNV/TES4/TES5) the FormID of the record, what type of record it is (MGEF, INGR), the Subrecord involved, and the name of the field in xEdit. For example, "Skyrim SNDD - Sounds, Sound". If I can't find a similar type of setup for the record in the CK/CS/GECK I may ask for a link to the mod. Record structures: Documentation for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas plugin file formats can be found on GitHub/fopdoc courtesy of WrinklyNinja Fallout 3 Records Fallout: New Vegas Records Documentation for Oblivion and Skyrim file formats can be found on UESP Wiki Skyrim Records Oblivion Records Additional record formats can be found on my (very, very, poor) port of TES5Edit on GitHub. Extremely rough draft of what the functions mean are here. Bash Tags If you have forgotten the Bash Tags most of them are in this list. As I update Wrye Bash I will update that section to reflect changes I have made. Skyrim Progress Fallout Progress I have a very limited knowledge of Python. I will need help if it involves more complex routines. Updating the records is pretty straight forward and sometimes the patchers make sense including reading the specific fields in a record like MGEF or whatever. So I will be able to update some things on my own. I will be posting in the Known Issues section things that have been reported that I cannot update or have not been updated. Known Issues: Oblivion: None at this time. Skyrim: Keywords are not copied into the Bash Patch. VMAD records from loosing plugins are not copied into the Bash Patch. Some records with repeating sounds like SNDR:ANAM are not carried over into the Bash Patch. Special routine needed to handle INAM for Outfits. LVLD - Chance None is not always utilized. Needs verification because code does look at this value. CTDA conditions not always carried over into bash patch from loosing plugins. CELL: Interior cells XCLW - Field is being blanked out, which may lead to Bash adding unnecessary records. If Bash needs to make a record for the cell, set it to the huge negative value. Otherwise don't import it at all. Fallout 3: None at this time. Fallout New Vegas: None at this time. Version numbers will start with 306 but since this is a beta and not an official release I will make incremental updates, 306.0.01, and so on. Volunteers Needed: Currently I am looking for volunteers to contribute Wrye Bash. The main focus is updating Wrye Bash's Skyrim Patcher. However, this version also has limited Fallout 3 and Fallout NV support. Wrye Bash is written in Python so I am looking for people who are fairly knowledgeable with that programming language. You need to have Skyrim installed on your system so that you can test your updates to the code. If you wish to help with Fallout support then you should own a copy of Fallout 3 or New Vegas. If you wish to help please PM me with your GitHub account name and which game mode you are willing to help with. P.S. please be willing to at least proofread my attempts to write Python code for Skyrim even if you prefer not to help with that and don't own a copy of Skyrim.
  5. Hi, After following the STEP guide for Fallout 3 , i've played till lvl 5. I'm quite positive on the stability of the game. Very good guide. 1) ENB or not I did not want to have an ENB. Problem is i have 2 monitors and i like to log progress. Alt-Tab function on full game fails miserably on windows 10. I used One Tweak for FO3 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21337/? I know there are other options but guide did not include an alternative to borderless via ENB. This might be an option for people who does not want an ENB. 2) 19th and 20th Century Weapons for me adds too much material where i got lost. Also it feels like i might not have done the installation properly. so i'd chosen not to include it. 3) First time i run the game , i'm quite upset with armor mods. You enter springvale and all armors are there. So i merged the plugins, remove these from containers and try to add them to levelled list. It might be that this is done in the Wasteland patch but as i removed the 19-20th Century Weapons, i could not use that patch. Merged Armor mods (you still need to install them but put the esp's to optional) . I've attached for the people who are also upset about it. Exeter-Type3-armor.zip is attached for the esp. I can see that i'm now getting the armor as loot and raiders as such is using them. I might not be good at arranging possibilities but this is nicer than finding all good armor at the start of the game. now, it is random.if you still want to have a certain armor, added them to 2 vendors. you can pay for it if you want any of those armors fast without console. Please note that it is the first time i've played with the levelled list files so it might not be perfect. At least this works for me. 4) Looking at quests I'm pretty much lost in 3DNPC Fallout Bundle . No clear installation instruction. Looks interesting but i opt for not going for it as i could not be sure. 5) I've installed Doctor Leskos but i'm not sure if it will run smoothly or not as there were couple of conflicts in TES4 edit. I could not understand the implications. So to be seen. 6) As companion, Ties That Bind seems to match well though i removed it, TeS4 edit comparion looks nice. Brissa Aldomovar along with FWE patch looks ok too. Ties That Bind https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19941/? Brissa Aldomovar https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/14448/? Dont forget to enable related plugin from JIP Companion Control 7) There was a texture issue with Moriarty. Using Breze's Male bodies instead of Robert's solved the issue for me. 8) In bashed patch, if you also like to have initials for different armor/weapon to sort easier, there is a problem with TWPC patch where names will revert back to normal. You might want to create your own patch and overwrite name from bashed patch.
  6. Jokes aside, he is rubbing against a muscular man. Anyone excited for VR? Anyone buying into it next year? It's most likely going to be another Kinect in my opinion.
  7. The mod introduces a few edits to the race names and descriptions, specifically changing them to their German counterparts. Can be manually fixed via TES5Edit. Somehow these rogue edits made it past my patching, may be caused by newer version of the mod?

  9. I just started installing SR:LE today. I decided to follow the guide 100% even though there are a few things I'd change in a "perfect" game for me. I wanted to try it as intended before I got into any tweaking. Anyway, I just discovered that Ragdoll Paralysis is listed as version 1 and the current version is 2 on the Nexus. No old versions are available. No updates have been made on the Nexus page since 2013. The .zip file has a -1 in it, so I'm guessing that's where it came from. However, MO is only seeing the main file version. I don't know if this is correct or just an oversight, so I thought I'd mention it. I'm new to the forums (relatively), so maybe this has been discussed with other mods before and I missed it.
  10. Note: This is not an advertisement. I am asking for feedback from STEP because this is my favorite gaming community. Hello STEP community! Audley here. I am making this post to ask for some constructive feedback on my upcoming project: Project Finite. I have started a modding team by the name of Team Hollow. Which currently consists of about three people so far. So what is Project Finite (PF) you ask? Well, PF is an ambitious project to make a standalone video game using the Unreal Engine 4. The game will be an action role-playing game heavily inspired by the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. I got the idea one day by jokingly saying to myself: "Well, why don't I make my own Fallout?" after being incredibly frustrated by New Vegas' performance issues. Ever since then, I have been learning, practicing, researching, and planning this project. And that was about 5 months ago that I started. I would also like to say this project is 100% non-profit and if the game is ever released it will be completely free. I know what you are probably thinking at this point: "Well that is all fine and dandy Audley, but you do realize that making a video game requires a massive amount of time, money, and people don't you?" Therein lies my issue. The problem is not money, the problem is people. If I cannot get a community around this project to launch it, then all my work will have been for nothing. While I can post modding job offers on sites like ModDB, unless I can get a solid community of people to back the project and offer ideas then this project will die. I have tried using sites like GoFundMe and Kickstarter to gain support and funds for this project, I have been failing simply because I have no community to back the project. I want this game to be made for the community by the community. I am heavily invested, motivated, and dedicated to this project. I really would like it to succeed. So I am asking the STEP community (i.e. you guys) what are your thoughts, constructive feedback, ideas, and general advice. The goal of this post is not to advertise. However, if you would like to help in any way then please send me a PM. Thanks for reading guys and any advice you give. This is definitely the best gaming community on the web; you guys are awesome!
  11. Hello! I read your screen calibration guide and there are a few things I would like to mention: The first is the relationship between the driver's color management utility vs Windows' built-in color management utility. In your guide you mention that if you should go through the Windows utility so that colors are at their default settings, where (at least in AMD's case,) adjusting colors at the driver level will automatically throw away the settings used by Windows. This makes that step a bit redundant, and I feel like it would only confuse some people. The second is the reference image you provide. I think that a much better guide would be the Lagom LCD monitor test pages. In addition to ensuring that you have proper brightness and contrast, this guide will ensure that you have correct gamma and sharpness. Also, I find the Photo Friday reference image you provided to be too extreme: by adjusting brightness and contrast in accordance to the Photo Friday guide (adjust until the shapes are just batrely visible,) it will make the test fail for the Lagom LCD test for the "Black level" and "White saturation" tests, and makes my screen far too dark and high-contrast. Third, I think that you should at least mention tools such as the Spyder 3 Pro as an option for enthusiasts (and this guide is geared towards enthusiasts,) who insist on nothing less than the absolute best color reproduction their monitor can offer. It won't be neccesary for most users, but I feel like acknowledging the existence of these tools would make it a much rounder guide. Finally, I think that you should mention that apps like f.lux can mess with the color settings because it demands control over both Windows and driver colors and should be fully closed before calibration work is started. Thank you for all of your effort put into your guide! Despite my criticisms, you still have the best modding guide for both new users looking to get the essential utilities and mods needed to start modding their game, and enthusiasts looking to get the best graphics available. I regularly reccomend it to friends, and will continue to do so!
  12. Hello STEP Acolytes! On my first and second runs with Fear and Loathing I recieve the error: "Flashlight Version Error - There seems to be a problem with the HUD files. If you are using iHud, make sure you reinstall Flashlight NVSE after activating iHud." iHUD and Flashlight nvse both show up without problems but When I access the flashlight menu in MCM I recieve that error. I am still able to access the settings for both. On 1st run: I saw the Flash Light on the shelf in the Doc's home but did not pick it up and Test it out. On 2nd run: Went threw ALL menus and settings again, to see if any errors popped. After section "User Interface" =No problems except for error listed above. Was planning on ignoring this for now and see what happens after everything is said and done. Going to start a new game right now and pick up the flash light and see what happens 😛 I followed the Fear and Loathing STEP guide Verbatim. Great guide btw 😄
