  1. Star Citizen Alpha 2.6 with Star Marine Available! Follow the link for print & video details, the FPS gameplay is now available.
  2. I've subscribed to a Steam Workshop mod long enough to compress the file into an archive that Mod Organizer can read and had success. The Multiple Followers Lite mod sounds like a good fit for custom followers that don't benefit from AFT / EFF additional functionality, I'll have to try it myself.
  3. There is "Guide:Wrye_Bash", right here on STEP so you know its good. The guide is for the 32 bit application, but still relevant.
  4. Fall Fly Free event until 31 October, create an RSI forum account & fly the Super Hornet, for free. Lot's to see and do in the Port Olisar environs during the current iteration. For a peak at what's coming ion 3.0 and beyond, check out this video from CitizenCon in 60 fps. It begins with an in-engine descent to a procedurally generated (and hand finished) planet, but once the camera reaches the protagonist (imagine your character here) things get much more interesting. See you in the 'verse (and until then I'll be enjoying FallOut 4, excited for Skyrim Special Edition and looking for a Witcher GOTY sale).
  5. Really loving Enderal. Playing it as is through it's launcher, no other mods or managers. The setting is amazing, the writing is top-notch, the voice acting is professional grade and the production quality is as good or better than the Skyrim DLC. Really terrific work Sure AI team, thank you for this! I'm going to go back to playing now, can't wait to see how this turns out.
  6. Check out the Crossfire mod, for Freelancer, solves the modern system issues & adds ENB & other goodness.
  7. Looks like my issue was using IE instead of Firefox, problem resolved & torrent inbound.
  8. PC Gamer reviews the mod here. I'm downloading the main file from Nexus now, but I'm having trouble with the link on the SureAI site, just getting blank pages instead of the torrent link & launcher link. I can wait for the Nexus to get the main file, but I think I'm stuck if I can't connect to the launcher? Thanks Starac & team, I'm looking forward to experiencing Enderal.
  9. Looks like the Gamescom Fly Free is up: The Free Fly will give everyone access to the nimble Mustang Gamma, the ferocious Sabre and the hard-slogging Freelancer through Monday, August 22nd, 2016. We hope you enjoy trying the Star Citizen Alpha! Check it out for free and see what you think.
  10. Teaser says by end of year, previous end of year was delivered December 19th :-) The 2.5 update goes live over the weekend (been playing it in the test universe, good stuff) The 2.6 update, which adds FPS to the universe & a "Star Marine" fps minigame + new updates for the "Arena Commander" dogfighting minigame goes live sometime between now & winter. Pro-tip: buy a less expensive starter pledge that unlocks the MMO + Squadron 42 single player game, you can always upgrade your ship later (using real $ or in-game earned currency). * There are frequent "fly free" events that allow you to play a few ships over a weekend or week, I'll try to post here next time one of those is announced.
  11. Yessir, lots to see & do. Can't wait for playable mining & shipping missions to complement the fps & ship combat as well as more bounty hunting & exploration content.
  12. Gamescom Reveal footage now up on the RSI website. Big steps forward as the Port Olisar playable area becomes the Stanton star system. Looks really impressive, check it out next time "fly free" comes around.
  13. I'm glad we didn't lose you Grant. One solution to that scenario would be to nominate a "caretaker" to receive communication on the author's behalf; another might be the Nexus posting a notice " author on leave of absence for a known / unknown amount of time, please wait for notice of return before attempting further communication, mod remains owned by author until formally abandoned" or something better worded. I sure a conversation between authors & Nexus to create a "Modders' Bill of Rights" and some template "Modder's Will & Testaments" would produce productive results. The provision to customize due to the wishes of the individual author could be left open, but having the author's Nexus page come with easy push button functionality that gives ready access to popular premade selections.
  14. Those all sound like great ideas &/or conversations to start. I followed the link Neo posted on the previous page to DarkOne's news re- mod theft & console modding which referred to a multiple choice option for the mod author's wishes regarding how their work should or is shared with Bethesda.net & console users. Similar options at Nexus upload might also be a good idea; multiple options re- permissions (which may already be a thing), options on a modder's will (30/60/90 days without contact, or never). Maybe a forum thread on Nexus that links back here would be helpful, especially if you already have a dialog going over there? And the xEdit script to update deprecated & abandoned mods, that sounds like a great workaround, and not just because someone besides me will have to make it happen (no skills  ). Oh, and the "forking" thing, brilliant, that would make life easy for end users like myself. The STEP wiki keeps me informed, but for mod users who haven't found this site that forked functionality would really help (kudos to those who put links in their mod descriptions to accomplish that). Depending on how hard it would be to code, that sounds like another great conversation to take up with the Nexus staff.
  15. Breaking News: Star Citizen now has 100% more space motorcycles! Yellowjacket paint job available for a limited time only, get yours today! See website for details. Stay tuned for "all the news that's fit for youtm". tm: Freelancer quote.
  16. I used a ugrids 9 & on a later game 7 setup. I'm much happier with the look & performance of DynDOLOD. spINI for the win.
  17. Words to live by! I am so the guy who keeps adding 1 more mod, 1 more mod until I bring my house of cards down. The bigger you build it, the harder it is to troubleshoot, and not every problem rears it's head at the start of a new game (I have found out the hard way  ).
  18. STEP Extended + SRLE using Dread's Modular Install with the Gameplay Overhaul mods to kick it into high gear. Season to taste with Darth & Lexy's SRLE Extended, or if you aren't into doing your own CR use their entire list with convenient CR patch available. Those forums are active & support friendly so you should get all the help you need on conflicts, updates & whatnot - I have just by reading through the old posts.
  19. It seems like it would be difficult to monetize that (console modding), especially if you can get more for free on the PC side. PC modders being very against paid modding as far as I can see on the Nexus. Seems strange the SSE isn't a mesh/texture improvement with a "best of" collection of community mods targeted at consolers (the PC community being better able to do that & more for themselves). Egosoft's X franchise did that for X3 with the X-tended mod where they partnered with the mod community to host the mod & develop assets included in the next release of their game. Unfortunate that Beth hasn't tried to reach out like that, since their modding community does so much work for them already.
  20. What kind of mod management do the consoles have? I dropped console gaming with the PS2 (still have) & the Xbox360 (ring of death, rinse, repeat). Is it analogous to the Steam Workshop where you get a paragraph of description, click subscribe & hope for the best? If so, then it's probably a limited set of mods that would make sense for those devices, serious modding will still be a PC thing even if hardware limitations aren't a limiting factor (& I assume that's a big IF).
  21. It's a free standalone upgrade, what's not to like? STEP doesn't have to be affected anymore than it wants, like MO 1.3.11 / 2.x we have a working version that isn't going away & a new version with potential. As far as the modding community going in different directions, that's bound to happen anyway (FO4 over TESV). If SSE incorporates the new stuff from FO4's engine that might bring back authors to Skyrim who were tempted by the new shiny options. Me, I'm just happy to get gifts from generous mod makers year round, many thanks!
  22. Some details on the controller here, its a HOTAS that snaps to a keyboard or not as desired, it has mice instead of hats so best of both worlds. Plus the game is built to be controller agnostic, meaning m&k / game controller / HOTAS are all viable options. You've probably also noticed weapons come in three aiming "flavors"; fixed (aim with ship), gimbaled (aim with mouse while ship tracks same) & turreted (as gimbaled when aimed by pilot or more Millennium Falcon style with a gunner). Combine that with with the fly by wire Newtonian physics driven flight & the "blackout"/"redout" mechanic simulating g-force & enforcing you roll your top in the direction you want to turn (for max g tolerance) it works out quite well. I can't say it's realistic space flight (I've never been) but it definitely gives me flashbacks to prop-driven yanking & banking
  23. Don't be sorry, take all the time you need, I don't make a commission on this but maybe I should. The game is funded, and hopefully doing the MMO for a decade, so you have all the time in world.
  24. Watch the archived video on their site (if you haven't already), read the lore (canon & fan fiction), lurk the forums (at your own risk ) and join an organization or few ... ... I may be an over achiever there. I hear you on Freelancer, it was/is awesome, I'm confident SC will be too. Play in the alpha universe, it gets better all the time.
  25. I've been great at dying in every multiplayer shooter so far (damn 12 year olds hopped up on mountain dew!), but I do love the old school cool of early 20th century firearms. Looking down the sights of that battle rifle gets me going, and who doesn't love a BAR? Looks like I've got some linked videos to watch. Edit: Biplanes & Zeppelins! Maybe this will satisfy my Crimson Skies craving until someone remakes that. Oh, I saw motorbike, don't get me started on that
