GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
oqhansoloqo replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I'm willing to bet that it had to do with your number of BSAs installed. Why not upgrade MO? The newer versions of MO do not have this issue and have other improvements. EDIT: GrantSP - do you want to ask EssArrBee about adding it to the guide and then go about putting it in there if he gives the go-ahead? It seems as though a lot of people like the idea. EDIT2: Anyone else try Simple Street Lights and what are the downsides to using it over Electro-City? BTW - the description for Electro-City states that they removed the Electro-City HQ, so that sounds to me like the building is no longer there. The engineers are, but not the building... -

If it includes a BSA you probably over the BSA limit if you have an older version of MO installed. -
BTW - are you running LOOT as a separate executable through MO or are you running LOOT by using the "Sort" button in MO that resides above the plugin list in the right half of the MO window?
-
Have you ever clicked the option in LOOT to update the master files?

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
oqhansoloqo replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I never got that when I did it. I don't see that error in my own now either. I've seen the errors from the other weapons being merged that you are referring to, but I never had to delete lines in the FormID List relating to the crossbow mods. I figured maybe it was because I was deleting a subrecord that didn't cause the same kind of error as the deletions of records in the other weapons mods. Is anyone else experiencing this? -
That doesn't look right. At least, the order of a bunch of mods are different than my own load order. Did you run LOOT properly?

ACCEPTED Better Shaped Weapons - BSW (by masterofshadows and LeanWolf)
oqhansoloqo replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
OK, well in that case I vote Dwarven, because the vanilla design of the sword (even with the BSW mesh changes) most resembles a Dwarvish style. So you are saying that XPMS Extended is not necessary? This is a quote from before from me in March when I was comparing the XPMS versions "Extended XPMS over the other version does make a difference - the main difference I notice (I think) is that quivers are closer to the body when playing as a female. I did not notice a fix with the arrow length issue in female 3rd person with either (maybe I didn't load something correctly in regards to the proper weapon scale element of the Extended version?), and I didn't notice this issue at all with female 1st person arrow length with either (didn't even try it without XPMS)." Apparently, back then I thought the standard version caused female characters to have the quiver separated far from the back, but the extended version fixed the issue and brought the quiver much closer to the back. -

I was referring to the "Thin HUD - JIP Companions Command and Control" mod that GrantSP told us about, but I just got lazy with my description of it. BTW - I modified the guide with some information gleaned a while back about two things. A way to solve the Crossbow mod framerate issue that's been talked about so many times. Lonewolf provided a solution to it back on July 2. I also modified the mod note for the Nuka-Cola mod to mention how it can also cause framerate issues. This is a well-known issue, both in this forum and also on the Nexus mod forum. As I don't currently know a solution to it, I proposed to the guide reader to just remove the mod after an easy test if the FPS drop. EDIT: In both cases, neither mod are worth using with the FPS issues. Many people get FPS drops at least as bad as -20 from either mod. That's just intolerable. -

oqhansoloqo replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
We picked Dwarven sheath before. I'm guessing Dwarven was chosen because the sword itself seems to have a Dwarven style to it. The build of the part around where the light emanates from looks like a part Dwarven design. EDIT: Tech - have you figured out which features of XPMS Extended are suitable for combining with BSW? -

That's one area I am not very familiar with - what the different bash tags do and how to use them. I know how to resolve conflicts and create patches in xEdit, but I never learned much about bash tagging. I won't be much help with that sort of thing. GalenZ - he seems to know quite a bit about that sort of thing... Too bad he hasn't been active for a month. There's got to be someone else around here competent and willing. EDIT: Sounds like even running a script that creates appropriate tags would still not fix all the issues with TRTBA though. Wouldn't it just prevent duplicate equipment sets, but not prevent powerful equipment from showing up too early on? EDIT2: RWLE comes with a number of optionals files, just like RWL. Cool - let us know how IMPACT works out (and the transparency textures mod). Don't forget EssArrBee's patch. I think I provided the link in a quote not long ago. -

I just downloaded and installed - it's just textures. I've never even played the game long enough to get a companion though so I can't easily test it out. Someone who has some companions want to test this mod out a bit to make sure things look OK and report back to give the go ahead. Maybe GrantSP, you could possibly add that mod into the guide in the appropriate spot (after the tests, which seem like they shouldn't be difficult to do) and make sure to comment about it in the changelog? -
SKYRIMLE BLESSINGS - Altar Descriptions (by MyGoodEye)

I cannot officially lock this thread - I guess I do not have permission to do this. There is already a thread in place for this mod, as it had previously been in the STEP guide and was dropped. Please refer to this other thread for all future discussion: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/1337-blessings-altar-descriptions-by-mygoodeye/?hl=blessings&do=findComment&comment=60578 -

I like it for making the UI for companion control less visually obtrusive on the screen. Does it end up replacing plugins or only adding new ones - or possibly does it just consist of textures? -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
oqhansoloqo replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
OK. What about removing The Right to Bear Arms, as many people have stated how it makes very powerful weapons far too easy to obtain and also stuffs NPC spawns with extra loot as it doesn't get combined into the bashed patch well? What about replacing Realistic Wasteland Lighting with its better successor, Realistic Wasteland Lighting Enhancement? Also, can I go and create a link within the guide to the page created by EssArrBee that gives multiple weather/lighting options? EDIT: Lastly, did anyone test out EssArrBee's IMPACT patch and is it good enough to allow us to add IMPACT into the guide along with the patch, or are there still issues? -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
oqhansoloqo replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I notice some people on here have posted some good ideas in the past - fixes, mod changes, mod additions, or mod removals that would improve the dynamics/content of the game. EssArrBee has given permission to the community to modify the guide as long as the changes are well-documented in the changelog. There are a few people on here that seem to be quite proficient in modding this game, analyzing edits in FNVEdit, etc... For those of you that are, why not propose your ideas here in this forum for discussion and then we can go about improving the guide after there is some mutual agreement to the changes? -
In the Legend for the guide it explains that Core mods have a green indicator and Extended mods do not (look to the far left of each mod listed in the guide). I don't know why, but a lot of people miss this. This seems to be a common question about the guide, but the information is given in the guide. I saw it, but a lot of people don't.

Audley showed me this mod recently - MUCH better than that other Realistic Wasteland Lighting mod. This one is called "Realistic Wasteland Lighting Enhancement" and it looks and runs WAY better: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/59591/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fnewvegas%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D59591&pUp=1 -

When you run LOOT, do you make sure the new order is applied properly - do you click "Apply"? -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
oqhansoloqo replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
The newer .esp from "Holster - new mesh for Heavensturkey" will overwrite the one from the original mod, which I guess is good because it's newer. Apparently you can move the original one to "Optional ESPs" since the newer one will take the place of the older one due to the load order of the mods. It looks like it doesn't really matter though... -
CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)

Nice idea - I like it. Edit: I haven't examined the plugin with TES5Edit - I wonder if draugr variants added from Skyrim Immersive Creatures mod would need a special patch. -

I guess I could try temporarily removing the Duel mod and trying this test again to see the results of that too. I'll get back with you later with the results when I do this soon. -

BTW - I tried this. Creating 100 bandits, then stood up on a raised walkway and watched. While I didn't look over my scripts using Papyrus logging yet, I did observe the FPS. Dropped to about 5 and then after a minute someone ran at me and started hitting me and that's when the game basically CTD. Is it normal for 100 fighting NPCs to not cause this to happen though? I would think that even 50 would be too much for a game like this to handle well. -
Green/Mandatory parts of STEP:Core
oqhansoloqo replied to ShiranZou's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Green = STEP Core mods. Non-green = STEP Extended mods. You can ignore texture mods if you like, because if you use any of the STEP Patches, those will be only requiring certain plugins (.esps) from mods to work - not textures. But, if you don't install the texture mods as in the guide your end result will not quite look as intended by the guide. Baseline versus not baseline usually means the difference between choosing a texture mod that uses 1k quality textures versus an alternative for the mod that uses 2k textures (or lower or higher, depending). The alternatives would be signified by "LQ" and "HQ" symbols. Most of this is explained in the guide itself - the legend, btw.
