  1. I am not brave enough to jump yet. I will keep Windows 7 until I do a hardware upgrade at the level of motherboard or get some nasty virus or some weird system corruption. Those are the only things that will make me choose to upgrade.
  2. BTW - I have a GTX 770 and for that reason (graphics card requirements) mainly (nothing else in my computer really requires so much juice as that) I got a 750W PS. It's an Antec TRUEPOWER NEW. But I also factor in other components that require power too, because it's not just the graphics card. This is why I recommend using one of the many online calculators that help you figure out potential PS requirements. EDIT: You also have to know the types of power ports that your graphics card will require and make sure that your prospective PS can provide it for the card. These days graphics cards are so powerful they need dedicated power cords that go straight to the PS, rather than getting their power from the motherboard.
  3. Yeah, but it's worth it... Especially if you have a strong rig.
  4. Skyrim.ini [General] bAlwaysActive=1
  5. There are websites that offer online power supply calculation. You describe the components and once you put in your build it will tell you some specs of the power supply you should order. It usually best to err on the side of being safe (choosing more rather than less) and you will help to ensure that you will not be straining you PS also. Also, you might want to consider getting a UPS battery that has these features - allows you to have power during a power shortage (so you can properly shut down), protect from power surges (cheap surge protectors do this also), and here's another that some people don't always realize or consider: cleans/smooths the voltage of the power coming from the grid going to your computer (dirty power coming in that has lots of minor spikes and so forth can take a toll on your devices and cause premature blowouts and degradation). I forget the term of the last feature, but not all UPSs have that feature.
  6. Apparently, this is a very common issue. It keeps being brought up. Just curious (to get a better understanding of why people are installing the older version of MO over the newest version) - what led you to choose downloading 1.2.8 over 1.3.8? You will regularly get "uio", "menus", and "FNVEdit Backups" folders appearing in MO Overwrite (from either loading the game or running FNVEdit). I often do. If you check them, you will probably find them to actually be empty of files. If they are, go ahead and delete them - it is safe. About your other question - I don't know. Someone else will have to assist.
  7. Well then, I guess at some point I will be running all plugins through this process to be certain it's done right. :) Thanks for the info.
  8. In order to have it removed using "clean masters", there must be no records from it left. If there are, then it will not clean that master out from the header. If you manually clean the header, you MUST be certain that you removed all records of that master (thus effectively no longer making it a necessary master) from the plugin. If you don't and there are leftover edits requiring the master, it will break things. To clarify - BAD SITUATION, DO NOT DO THIS (this = neglect to remove all associated edits). The safest thing to do is use "clean masters".
  9. Did you mean to say taking the tags provided by the script and keeping a list of them to be added to LOOT?
  10. Mods that alter landscape layout (especially around populated areas) will require often a lot of extra compatibility patches typically to get them to work properly with other mods. This can potentially be a lot of extra work on your part outside of the guide, keep in mind.
  11. Rorax - This was a recent change to the guide. You should check the changelog to see what else was recently changed, as those changes might benefit you as well in other ways. Them apocalyptic survivers be crazy...
  12. Does generate bash tags work better than comparing a LOOT report to plugins in Wrye Flash and adding in the bash tags to the plugins missing them through Wrye Flash - does it add extra bash tags that LOOT doesn't take into consideration in its recommendations?
  13. Thanks, I'll check it out later. :)
  14. It's hard to tell because it's (the hagravens in the compare pictures) so small and far away, but I think the hair and clothes look better.
  15. That's a crazy good card. I know that the author of Vividian ENB provides a nice solution, is constantly improving it, and provides outstanding support.
  16. Yeah, if you have a very powerful rig then skip that part. Good call, Tech.
  17. I think that the guide will get you far - and that it just takes time (which you could pull off in small sessions at a time). If you want to customize beyond the guide, that's when it gets tricky because you don't have the guide to tell you what to do.
  18. Yep - and that's why I use that mod. ;) I guess I don't typically use alchemy much in my playthroughs anyway, because I don't really like the way drinking potions seems to work during combat. Certain potions you can go into a menu and select that you want to drink it a second before a killing blow comes down and all of the sudden have full health upon exiting the menu. I just don't like the way it's implemented because in some ways it feels like cheating during a fight. I'm sure there are mods for that too though... :)
  19. To put it very simple: the patches allow multiple mods with conflicting edits to the game to work properly with each other. I'd say that you definitely want to to consider using the 1.D.1 and 1.D.2 settings. The other settings in the Skyrim Configuration Settings Guide are proceeded by a note: "Notice: The STEP Guide DOES NOT officially recommend all of the following settings, but rather that all of the following INI entries are valid. These settings may improve the user experience, but each setting will be system/environment dependent. The values indicated are usually best for the "Recommended System"."
  20. I know. It makes less sense than animals having gold coins on them. Obviously an animal like wolf is not carrying that in a sack or pocket... Maybe it ate them and you pull them out of it's as$?
  21. I like the look of it in the compares - I guess the biggest thing for me is having the symbols of the holds stitched into the part of the outfit.
  22. I totally agree with your opinions about all of that. I don't think you are arguing your points more than warranted. You have created many mods relying on the UPs and use scripts in some of them. You also realize that there are many mod authors no longer around that have perfectly good mods, some of which will be incompatible with the naming change of the plugin names transitioning from USKP to USLEEP. Lots of people around here tend to support the opinions and decisions of the mod authors who create them out of respect and without much question, even when those opinions are sometimes flawed. While they should be respected, sometimes people need a little convincing to make better decisions about things. EDIT: I think the UP team is making a bad decision here and they should go for compatibility with existing mods over catering to the fraction of modders that don't read changelogs or mod descriptions and notices.
  23. Your BSAs in the right panel are in a strange order... For example, TribalPack and MercenaryPack are just under "data"? They should be further down the list. Also the mods in the left panel are out of proper installation order as well. A bunch that should be merged are not. Are you sure you installed things correctly, because it doesn't appear as though you followed the mod order or merging instructions of the guide. I don't know how to help if so much seems out of place...
  24. I revised the BSAs and Mod Organizer section of the guide. If anything appears incorrect in that section of the guide, please provide feedback.
  25. I'm 'guessing' that those two mods are fine to upgrade during a playthrough. I don't see why they wouldn't be.
