That is being addressed by the staff currently - it depends on whether or not STEP will still be utilizing some of its assets or not. Fear not though, the staff is aware of this situation. ;) EssArrBee is taking care of this and I believe it has been stated publicly that 2.2.9.1 is planned on being released this weekend, so expect it to be done very shortly. Of course, if any of this information is incorrect, I am just a junior staff member sooo... :)

I don't think they are much different, as I've used FNVEdit myself and don't recall it feeling much different (without me going and loading up both right now to see the differences...).

Optimized Texture Pack BSA's
oqhansoloqo replied to john7's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
OK, yes, now that you mention it TechAngel85... I did find that feature under the Settings>Plugins>BSA Extractor. I didn't know this was a feature. Unless john7 intentionally went in and enabled the feature, it shouldn't be enabled for him though - right? Considering I've been upgrading MO for a while now (as opposed to doing a clean installation), I don't know if they decided at a point to have the BSA Extractor enabled by default again, but maybe they did.- 18 replies

Optimized Texture Pack BSA's
oqhansoloqo replied to john7's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
I have MO v1.3.7 installed as well. Many versions ago the ability to extract BSAs during installation of a mod was removed. Now the only way I know of doing this within MO is by viewing the "Archives" tab in the right pane and right-clicking an installed mod's BSA in the list and then selecting the "Extract..." option. It sounds to me like the update process of MO did not complete properly and that your installation of MO is possibly corrupted. I'm wondering if MO had not been upgraded properly, mainly because I don't think you should be getting the option to extract BSAs during mod installation. It may be easy to fix though - download the file "Mod Organizer v1_3_7-1334-1-3-7.7z" from the MO Nexus page. Then extract the files. Then go into the ModOrganizer folder that was extracted, highlight all the files, and then copy them over your installation of MO. When asked to overwrite, overwrite all. Your mod installations should be preserved - do not worry about that. Try this and see if it fixes things - you should not be automatically asked if you want to extract a BSA in a mod when you install the mod. If it is still asking you that, then you do not have 1.3.7 properly installed... A normal properly installed STEP mod configuration will have a number of conflicting files, but whether or not you have the correct files overwriting other files will depend on if you followed the guide properly. Also, you must make sure that mods are enabled (the checkboxes are checked) in the left pane in order to see their BSA contents appear in the right pane (when viewing the "Archives" tab).- 18 replies

That's a good idea, since TES5Edit is such an important and valuable tool for good modding of the games covered by this modding community.

OK, I was thinking SMAA was linked to the game application in a way that could be affected by the drivers instead of looking at it as though SMAA was linked to ENB and ENB not being controlled by settings in the drivers (such as the ability to override the application). In light of that, if I set the application to do no AA itself then it would seem that either "Enhance the application setting" or "Override" in the driver settings would work equally as well. But I'll set it to "Override" because you have more knowledge about how these settings work than I do.

What version of MO are you using? I don't think that it asks about extracting BSAs when installing mods anymore.- 18 replies

I should have titled the setting better: "AA - Transparency Supersampling". If I disabled or set to off every other type of AA in Nvidia Inspector, why is "Enhance the application setting" not the proper way to apply the AA - Transparency Supersampling? From my understanding, SMAA doesn't provide it. I disabled AA altogether in the Skyrim application itself. I also disabled it in enblocal. I would think that I don't want to override my SMAA settings in this case, so enhancing them with providing the extra AA - Transparency Supersampling - 2x Supersampling would be the right way to do it as it wouldn't cause extra performance loss outside of adding the Transparency AA process (which is what the intention is in this case). If I did override, wouldn't I lose the SMAA?

ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
oqhansoloqo replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
A while ago I practically ripped my hair out trying to figure out how to get it to play nicely with FNV... I understand. -
What about: "Transparency antialiasing provides AA for transparent textures and will be most noticeable on fences, foliage, trees, and water. For Skyrim, it is recommend to remain set to "Off / Multisampling". If used, "2x Supersampling" is recommended as the minimum; however, adjust according to the performance/quality desired." If "2x Supersampling" for Transparency AA is used along with SMAA, should the setting for "Antialiasing - Mode" be "Enhance the application setting", or does the "Mode" setting only apply to what's set for "Antialiasing - Setting"?

ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues

Thank you for being the one to bring this issue forward for us to Boris, the person who designed ENB. -
Some more recommendations for the "Editing Skyrim Settings - Advanced" section: "A more general recommendation is to cap the frame rate to 2/3 of the monitor's refresh rates which is measured in hertz. For example, a user with a 120Hz monitor should cap their frame rate to 40FPS." Shouldn't that cap be 80? That would be 2/3. As it is, 40 is 1/3. "Antialiasing - Mode Mode should be set to "Application-controlled" for Skyrim. The default AA method in Skyrim is Multisampling (MSAA), so "Application-controlled" yields MSAA. For other users, the "Application-controlled" value allow the game to control AA. The "Override any application setting" will override the game's AA and force the AA method which is specified below in Antialiasing - Setting. The "Enhance the application setting" will process the AA method specified below in Antialiasing - Setting on top of the game's default AA. This last method can be performance intensive." Why not mention the situation where the user might be using SMAA as an option for AA? In that case the user would probably want to use "Override any application setting", then set "Application - Setting" to "Application-controlled / Off". As far as I know, this would cause the driver to not do antialiasing, leaving the job for SMAA. Unless the settings should be set differently for doing that? Also, I'm confused by the conflicting data about Anisotropic filtering. On one hand it says "It is recommended to force AF through the drivers." And then later, on another hand it says "ENB/ENBoost users should keep AF disabled in the drivers and turn it on the "enblocal.ini" file." I know there had been some discussion about this previously somewhere... but why must ENB or ENBoost users do things differently? Isn't doing it through the drivers more efficient?

True that. :) Of course it will be done - we can't leave that one out... of all of them. The fact that it needs a bit of detail to explain for different scenarios is why it hasn't been completed yet.

ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
oqhansoloqo replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
I read all of that a while ago... FNV seems to run completely differently than Skyrim does for me with the different enblocal.ini memory settings. BTW, I have a GTX 770 4 GB VRAM, 8 GB DDR3 RAM. -
It's in the STEP Guide 2.D. Fixes section under "Detailed instructions available" links for each DLC. You should be reading all mod "Notes" (the right-most column in the mod list) for every part of the STEP installation process, otherwise you are missing out on vital information.

ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
oqhansoloqo replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
Audley, PLEASE let me know if you figure out a way to fix it so that ENBoost works well. I had spent a lot of time messing with enblocal settings a while back trying to determine what did what. -
STEP Core is the main assortment of mods selected for the Skyrim Total Enhancement Project (STEP), while STEP Extended includes extra mods that go a little beyond the core design of STEP. The STEP Core Patch is a mod that you would most likely want to install at the end of the guide when installing STEP Core.

ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
oqhansoloqo replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
I had the exact same issue as Audley. I reported about it a long time ago in the FNV main forum. There was one other setting in the enblocal file that would cause the same issues if set to "true" and it was in the same memory handling section of the ini - may have been ExpandSystemMemoryX64 but I forget . It was horrible, so I decided not to try to use the memory management portion of ENBoost for FNV because it just made the game horrendous for me to play. I have no problem with using the same exact functions in Skyrim. -

Graphics issues - please help
oqhansoloqo replied to MasterKeef's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I just changed the title of your initial thread post to describe the issue. -
Did I read somewhere that you no longer have to worry about a BSA limit with FNV - it was perhaps a result of something changed in one of the newer versions of MO? I thought I may have read that somewhere. If that is in fact the case, then extracting and removing some of the BSAs is no longer necessary. If that is not the case, then make sure that whatever BSAs you do extract that afterwards you either hide, disable, or delete the BSAs (I would say that deleting them is less preferable to the other two alternative options, just in case in the future you decide that you want the BSA form of the data again you don't have to reinstall the mod).

Nearly done installing, couple of questions

And if you didn't install Better Shaped Weapons or Skyrim Weapon De-LARP-ification Project the sword might actually look like a surfboard too. :D -
Xbox modding would have to be so much more limited though. It would be like trying to do real modding using the Steam Workshop - yeeeaaaahhhh....
