The mods lists RCRN as fully compatible.

Ah! Thanks for pointing that out. I also see they have an optional file for SMIM support as well. I'm not sure that I like the candle smoke...I have candle all around the house and none of them smoke. Also, I'd like to see a "less smoky interiors" option. Dragonsreach looks like you would choke and die if you stuck around for too long. :ermm:

All-in-all, it's a great addition to lighting.

Its a pretty cool mod. Some of the interiors look a bit staged and that kind of sucks. Other interior look absolutely brilliant and completely authentic and natural. Its a great project and adds a lot to the world lighting.

I'm of the mindset that we should wait a bit before putting it in STEP.

While it's great, it is admitted by the author that it is not complete.

If it were included in STEP, there should be a note added that it's still a Work In Progress and advise that people should occasionally check for updates.

I disagree Sairven, I think in its current form its perfectly ready for use. Right now it covers all of the interiors in towns, villages, and inns. I don't think this mod needs to cover all the caves and ruins for it to be valuable and consistent for the user. After all, other lighting mods already do that.

There is talk in STEP of jumping ship from CoT to RCRN or another lighting mod. I think before this mod is decided on, it should be clear which lighting mod will be with STEP in the near future.

Maybe there we should create a thread to discuess this very thing? Admins? Yes, No? I don't think CoT brings as much to the table as RCRN does and from what I can tell most of us use RCRN. TC and Z have both created ENB's using it (TC exclusively with RCRN Plus).

There are quite a few lighting mods worth looking at:

Relighting Skyrim by NovakDalton

Enhanced Light and Fixes by Volrath

Overhauling light source for ENB and vanilla by JawZ

And I think More Dynamic Shadows had some fixes for lighting as well.

Could someone create these mod threads please? :whistling:

Lighting/ENB/weather will likely be handled via STEP Packs in the future (aside from 2.2.0b). This will allow for several options to suit a variety of tastes. All will be pretty cool, I think.

The SkyRealism ENB presets I made for the big three lighting mods are my own dabblings in this area. There are tons of combinations though, so we will be looking to the community for alternatives. We'll include instructions for authors creating these lighting STEP Pack variants. One idea is to evaluate the best variants to be placed on the wiki as a supplement to the STEP Guide ... there are far too many possible variants to include most, so the candidates will likely need to be classified by genera (fantasy, bleak, cinematic, realism, etc) and limited to the top pick for each.

This might conflict with anyone running RCRN as they already have dynamic lighting. Does anyone know if this would conflict with the realistic candle lighting mod that is already a part of STEP? (Real Effect Candle) Since this does more than candles it could be a replacement, although it doesn't work everywhere like Real Effect Candle does.

SkyRealism - Cinematic with RCRN - Classic and Real Effect Candle Mod.

I think that REC exacerbates the lightsprite *problem*, so not a big fan myself.

The authors of Relighting Skyrim and Overhauling light source for ENB and vanilla are merging their apps. They released Relighting Skyrim - Dawnguard Edition ,which only includes new areas added by Dawnguard, as the first mod from their collaboration. Future releases of Relighting Skyrim will include the efforts of both authors.

They didn't say what is likely to change in the future with Relighting Skyrim now that they are working together.

Relighting Skyrim is too bright for my tastes but the other too are pretty good.

Brightness is relative to the ENB config and other lighting mods you're using.

If this is true then looking at these individually won't do much good if the author's aren't going to be actively supporting and updating them with new areas and new DLCs. Would be nice to find that out or not.

Finally got around to testing this out. Looks amazing, but I get alot of the same visual bugs that I get with similar mods. Lights flickering on and off as you pan your camera around a result of too many light sources used.
