EssArrBee Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I get what you saying about cache integrity. You leave the vanilla files in your data folder and then put all the modified files in the MO/mods folder. This lets MO load everything properly on startup and steam to not redownload everything when he game cache is verified. Is that right?
TheDane Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 None. There are several things we are hashing out. Some of which require learning new things for the Team as well. Things operate more organically around here instead of on a linear timeline and path so it could be next month...it could be 3 months. Thanks for the reply. This forum is really unique :D Yes one of the things is how we're handling BSAs and some side projects that if they cne through and work as intended will make it even easier (and faster) to download and install the mods you need for the guide.Sounds interesting :D
oqhansoloqo Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) I think they are also discussing how to implement LOOT as a mod plugin organizer/sorter instead of BOSS. That may also be one of the holdups in the efforts to get 2.2.9 completed. Edited May 25, 2014 by oqhansoloqo
TechAngel85 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 There are currently about 7 major things/topics going on both behind the scenes and out for everyone to see. Fear not, we are working on 2.2.9 even if you don't see all the work that is going on.
oqhansoloqo Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 It sounds like some major changes are going to be implemented though - changes that may involve reinstalling most of the mods (in my setup), if BSAs are going to no longer be recommended to extract through Mod Organizer.
rootsrat Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Shall we consider Quality Snow for testing for 2.2.9 inclusion? I've done some initial compares and it looks better than what we use now, however more testing would be required, as it overwrites a few different mods. See this thread for more details, and here's the mod thread.
EssArrBee Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 We accepted a snow mod for 2.2.9 already. See which one because I forget and then compare to that so we can choose the best.
EssArrBee Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I'm pretty sure that was 2.2.8...You're correct. Just ignore my other post.
phryxolydian Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) Sorry if this has already been brought up but just a quick glance at the changelog I see no mention of it so... I'm setting up a side character, finally trying out SkyRe. Making sure I hadn't missed anything from the guide when I created my character back in December. A few points: 1) HD Misc: Only one texture (practicedummy01.dds) used from this mod, all others get overwritten by Tobes Highres Textures. Personally, I have always used Practice Dummies and King's Olaf Elegy HD by MM. 2) Skyrim Distant Detail HF has 359 dirty edits, of which there is no mention. Is this really a mod for STEP? 4) Even though it has been removed for 2.2.9, perhaps a note should be added to More Salt Please with the legend "STEP Patches users do NOT install this mod. It is already included in the STEP Patches." since 2.2.9 is not yet released? Edited May 29, 2014 by phryxolydian
Spock Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Another thing that would interest me is the sound list. Imho there are some mods that could be dropped due to AOS 2.1 covering them in equal or better quality (subjective!).
phryxolydian Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Like Realistic Wolf Howls. Yes, forgot to mentioned that. I was doing a fresh install yesterday night and called it a night after merging several stuff and reordering the left pane of MO cause of my main profile..
DoubleYou Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I tested the wolves myself, and it is difficult to say which is better. Realistic Wolves seems to have more diversity than AOS, but who is to say diversity is better?
Smile44 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I removed the distant folder from Realistic wolves which contains the files that overwrite AOS, and so now I get the arguably better distant howls from AOS with the sounds from RW - the best of both worlds.
