  1. Error messages are important. I would recommend removing those mods (right-click the mod in the left pane, click remove), then reinstall them all from the STEP instructions, now that you have more clarification.
  2. Is everything set up outside of any UAC controlled directories? I'm really not sure, as I have never had a problem with getting programs to run in MO myself. I see you've double checked all of the executables for MO, but did you double check the MO setup itself? https://wiki.step-project.com/Mod_Organizer#Recommendations Beyond that, like I say, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else has ideas.
  3. There are never any responses until people are around and feel like responding. :-P Have you set up TES5Edit to run properly in MO as per these intructions? https://wiki.step-project.com/TES5Edit#Recommendations
  4. You'll survive with everything else, but you desperately need a videocard upgrade.
  5. It doesn't matter if they are merged in one or seperate. You can remove the mods and reinstall them into one mod by changing the names to be the same, or keep them separate. Up to you.
  6. You can merge them all into one.
  7. It looks like you accidently downloaded the STEP Compilation (one of the main files on the Nexus page) instead of the STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures (one of the optional files on the Nexus page). Download one of the optional files (standard is STEP baseline) and use that. The file you already downloaded will be used later on.
  8. Depends if it's something like a hotfix or an add on. If it's a hotfix (i.e. an update that overwrites some, but not all the original mod files) you should probably always merge it, add-ons (additional files not included in the original mod) you can add as a new mod or merge it, it doesn't really matter. If you're updating a mod to a new version (a full update that includes the files from the previous version), you should always choose "replace" instead of merge.
  9. I'm glad you got it working! :-) No need to delete the thread, the info that you got it working after SMIM may help someone else.
  10. And just to be sure, you are using MO, right? The files should not be in your main Skyrim Data directory at all (like some mod managers do), or they will overwrite each other and cause nothing but trouble. MO uses a virtual data directory, so your Skyrim directory staus clean. It is important to note that the STEP instructions assume the user is running MO.
  11. When a wiki page for a particular mod asks you to hide files, it is meant that you only hide the files for that mod. Right click the mod in MO, click Information... and go to Filetree. There you can hide the files for each mod individually. This has benefits over deleting the files as you can always unhide the file later if for some reason you need it down the road. Whether you hide the whole folder within a particular mod's filetree or hide them all individually in the folder, it has the same effect.
  12. Like I said, it doesn't matter if you install them together into one merge or install them separately, just install them in order. I have had them installed both ways with the same effect. As for the view, this is just a guess, but I think you have it set to filter by Nexus ID. Open up the filter part by clicking the arrow next to it, and scroll down to the very bottom. There is a very small blank space you can click on below the list of filters. If you click there, it should make it filter nothing, which will show everything. I have never seen that particular view myself, but somebody else did post about it. Maybe try a search if my suggestion doesn't return things to normal. Edit: No problem there. You are supposed to select "None". If you read the explanation, it tells you those options are only if you don't use one of the STEP patches.
  13. Yeah, that warning basically means to make sure you run the bashed patch later. STEP does want you to install the Book of Silence during that step. To fix it, install the mods and move them in the left pane below the aMidianBorn Blade of Woe mod and above the aMidianBorn Imperial Light and Studded mod. You can install the Book of Silence mods individually or merge them into one, it doesn't matter, just install the different Book of Silence mods in the order listed.
  14. You must have missed some mod, or answered no to one of the questions in the Compilation FOMOD. It looks like you're missing a mod from the core list, as that screenshot shows you unable to install any patch. A list of required mods is in the OP of this thread: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9370-step-compilation
  15. I know you guys want to keep it on here, but you can always go the GitHub route. It seems to work well with fairly complex projects.
  16. I'm not sure if it's relevant to what you're looking for, Darth, but the only thing I can think of that I've read about the second block (besides just advice to increase it) is this post, also referenced in this note regarding the ExpandSystemMemoryX64 setting in enblocal.ini. Does increasing the second block size have pretty negative impacts for you? I could definitely see it in Win 8 / 10, with the 4 GB cap. I run STEP Extended on Win 8, and I wonder if I could even run SR:LE or your guide on Win 8.
  17. Just follow the text instructions. The video is outdated. The text instructions basically say: - Make a backup copy of Update.esm to the desktop. - Then clean it with TES5Edit. - Restore the Update.esm you copied to the desktop to "Skyrim\Data" directory. - Then overwrite will have two items...an Update.esm and a TES5Edit backup folder. Delete TES5Edit backup folder. (You don't need this as you already restored it from the desktop.) - Right-click overwrite, create mod, name it Cleaned Update ESM. - Drag it to the very top of the MO left pane - Tick it. Done. Basically, you clean Update.esm and create a mod from it. But you restore the original Update.esm. The Cleaned Update ESM ends up being a "fake" mod that loads after. I hope that makes sense. And no, you cannot clean it outside of MO. Just follow the STEP text instructions exactly. They may seem a little odd, but they work. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2#2.B._Clean_the_Update_ESM Good luck!
  18. I created a new mod with the overwrite files after cleaning each of the Update and three DLC. Follow the text description and you should be fine. HDD works fine, just loads slower. I suggest an SSD, but an HDD won't hold you back from STEP.
  19. Correct. As far as the rest of it...I have no idea. I use a few mods added on top of STEP Extended, but you want to add a whole bunch, some with sizeable conflicts. It's doable, but not easy. Good luck!
  20. No worries. :-) 1. You don't need to keep the TES5Edit backups because you should have already restored the file from the copy you made on the desktop. I would ignore that step from the video. Basically all that step from the video is doing is keeping a backup of the files before you cleaned them. You shouldn't need this if you followed the text instructions exactly, and if for some reason you ever did need to redownload it, you can always do so through Steam. If you follow the process of the text instructions exactly, you'll be fine. I recommend double checking the exact process you used to clean in TES5Edit, as this step is quite important. 2. You shouldn't have two "Cleaned Dawnguard ESM"s, because you should wait to create the mod from overwrite until you have cleaned it twice. I'm guessing again that this is probably a difference between the video and the text. The text shows this, and has numbered steps. The videos may confuse you more than anything. Now that you have a bit of experience with MO, I suggest only following the text, and disregarding the videos. It worked for me! :-)
  21. Where the video and the text instructions conflict, always, always follow the text. The videos were made with an older version of STEP. Due to the labor involved in making them, they can't be updated for every version. To be honest, I've never even watched the videos. If you stick with the text, you'll be fine.
  22. See this thread I made: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9568-step-extended-mo-screenshot-examples/
  23. MO will ask to merge the files if the filenames are the same. Usually, MO will make the filename the same for an update if it knows the Nexus ID (which it usually does if you download with manager), but maybe in this case it didn't. You can re-name the update to match whatever name you gave Improved Closefaced Helmets and you will see this screen.
  24. The name is Nebulous, or Neb, lol. Thane is the forum title based on the number of posts I have. STEP Extended uses all of the mods from the list, whereas STEP Core only uses the mods with the green vertical bar on the left side. See this part of the guide: https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2#Mod_Tables_Legend
  25. For STEP, it's just going to be four files: The three HighResTexturePacks and the Unofficial High Resolution Patch. In the Plugins tab on the right pane, the Flag category will have the icon that carlocgc is talking about. However, STEP is very detailed. There will be instructions for pretty much everything, so no need to worry too much about it. I really do like your thinking, though, as you are trying to anticipate problems before they happen. More folks should think like that. It will make installing STEP correctly fairly easy for you, although you will probably have some questions along the way. :-) Also, in the future, please post in one of the other troubleshooting forums. This one is reserved specifically for SR:LE, and you are now using the main STEP guide. General is always fine if you are not sure which forum is best. Edit: And please bear in mind what GrantSP said above. Much more important than dummy .esps.
