  1. I would agree 100% if they were all in one mod and placed after the unmanaged DLCs in the left pane. I honestly don't know enough about it to say whether it would make a difference if they were placed before. I have just always done what STEP asked, lol. You very well may be right, GrantSP. I'd be interested to know for sure whether it made a difference or not.
  2. Ooh, actually looking at the screen shot more closely now, the cleaned .esm's should be interleaved with the original unmanaged. Here is an example: My apologies, I was only looking at the red conflicts when I briefly glanced at it earlier. That's my mistake. Although more generally, my earlier statement is true.
  3. There are folks from all over. I think many are from the US. There is definitely at least one person that responded in this thread from Australia, and I am in western Canada (running on Mountain time). I'm fairly new to STEP and modding in general (<1 year experience), but I like to help when I can, if I know the answer. :-) GrantSP and Greg have been helping people here since before I knew what STEP was. The real folks you should thank are the the mod authors, as well as the guys who run and maintain STEP (I think the folks still active are: z929669, TechAngel85, EssArrBee, and DoubleYou), and of course Neovalen for his amazing achievement of SR:LE. How one guy maintains that guide alone I will never know, lol. Anyway, happy modding! Now that you have switched to STEP, if you run into any other issues, feel free to post on the General section of the forums. Cheers.
  4. OK, that makes sense. Please post what GenerateFNISforUsers says when you run it. The whole thing, if possible.
  5. You should be fine to delete those mods and add the STEP Vanilla Optimized textures. The beauty of MO is the fact that it never overwrites any files (it stores them separately), so there is never any issue uninstalling or re-installing mods (except in your save games, always start a new game!). If I were you, I would review STEP's detailed instructions for MO and the other utilities you have already added, and make sure they jive with what you have already done for SR:LE. Besides that you should be fine.
  6. I do not see any FNIS Output files. That is the problem. FNIS by itself won't do anything; you need to add the output files it generates for any effect. When you run GenerateFNISforUsers, it should create some folders in overwrite. Then you need to create a mod from those folders. See these STEP instructions to use FNIS in MO: https://wiki.step-project.com/Fores_New_Idles_in_Skyrim#Recommendations
  7. STEP is a bit less advanced than SR:LE. STEP sticks to 100% lore-friendly, while SR:LE deviates a little bit. SR:LE is updated by Neo a few times a week, while STEP is updated every few months, besides minor wiki changes. SR:LE also has probably double the mods, and recommends an ENB, whereas STEP is fairly conservative in its approach. It just depends what you want out of the game. Personally I run STEP Extended, and I'm currently looking at adding Vividian ENB to the mix. If you do plan to switch over to the main STEP guide, then I suggest comparing the two up to the point that you are at. You know what you have already done for SR:LE, so you should be able to see if there are any major differences. If there are any major differences, best to address them now. The main thing I notice up to the point you're at is that SR:LE assumes you will be running an ENB (specifically Vividian), while the main STEP guide assumes you are not adding an ENB (but it mentions changes needed; it gives you the option). I always recommend to get STEP running and tested before adding an ENB, as then you can more easily pinpoint any issues (if you have any) with the ENB installation. Take notes of anything that you may need to change when you add your ENB (such as .ini changes, different installation options for certain mods, etc.), and apply them later in one fell swoop when you add an ENB. Make sure any mods you re-install when you do this go back in the same priority number in MO (left pane) as they were before. Anyway, good luck! :-)
  8. I'm really confused by your post, Tomack. Let me know if I'm getting anything wrong. You mention trying to move "Dawnguard TES5Edit" into a mod named "TES5Edit Backup". Do you mean "Cleaned Dawnguard.esm" instead of "Dawnguard TES5Edit"? I.E. what we ask you to name the cleaned file? And as for the TES5Edit backup mod...STEP asks you to delete this from overwrite, assuming you restored it in another step. After following the instructions to clean Dawnguard twice, this is the instructions:
  9. That is fine. They always conflict, you're just able to see it now through MO.
  10. They are not complete. I believe they start off with the vanilla textures, including all DLC and HighResTexturePacks. They include the Unofficial High Resolution Patch changes, then they only keep the textures which other mods in STEP (Core, I assume???) do not overwrite. Tech just uploaded a new Performance Version, and I think the STEP staff are still trying to get the new standard version uploaded.
  11. Hmm, in theory it should work, but I have to say I've never actually tried it. I stick with my one profile and play. :-P Make sure you run your patchers in the same order you usually do, with later ones unticked until you get to them. Basically, just make sure you are doing the procedure the same as you usually would. Beyond that, I'm personally not sure. Please reply back with your results...now I'm curious. If it still doesn't work, maybe someone with more experience, like GrantSP, may know.
  12. My loading times improved dramatically when I installed my new SSDs.
  13. Hi Allen, I took a look at your link to Neo's recommended Optimized Textures mod, and it seems that the author of that mod is having some difficulties uploading the HD Optimized Textures for the base game. He has a link for the HD DLC Textures, but the name of the download link for the HD base textures says not to download it yet. Also, just to clear up some of the initial confusion, when many of us read "STEP", we assume the main, official STEP guide, not Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition ("SR:LE"). They are two different guides, with different installation instructions. I'll let Neo know about the Optimized Textures, assuming he hasn't seen it already. Good luck! :-)
  14. Save them with different names based on the profiles. Then only tick the ones you are using in the left pane for each profile. Example: "Bashed Patch profile 1", "Bashed Patch profile 2", etc. Do the same with any mods you need to install with different options for the different profiles.
  15. FYI, from the OP, user is running SR:LE, not STEP.
  16. It didn't overwrite anything because one is the main Skyrim directory and the other is the MO mods directory. Cleaned update.esm is found from step 1B. The steps before the list of mods start are just as important as the steps for the mods themselves.
  17. Don't copy the Data and src folders in step 1. You don't need src, and Data is installed in Step 2. You got step 2 correct!
  18. USLEEP is definitely compatible with FNIS from what I have seen. Then again, I do not use the custom spells or animations Fore provides. Have you checked to make sure FNIS, the Creature pack and spell pack are all the latest version? I assume you are using MO. Have you made sure FNIS is a higher priority than USLEEP? When you run FNIS to get the output files to create the FNIS Output "fake" mod, what does the message say? Any errors?
  19. ENB with graphical options, or ENBoost (ENB with no graphical option, only helps stability)? Install ENBoost as part of the guide (I think it's in (1C. Extenders), and if you are installing an ENB preset for graphical changes (like Vivian ENB), install it after you have verified the standard STEP installation works. You will need to adjust the enblocal.ini, as well as re-install a couple mods with different options (lighting mods, etc.). Ensure when you re-install the mods you need to for ENB Graphics that you put them back in the same priority number as before in the left pane in MO. As for the Skyrim Launcher Options...I can't remember that setting, but it makes sense you would click them (I assume to activate the HighResTexturePacks). Note that the HighResTexturePacks are dummy plug-ins, and they can be un-ticked in the right pane plug-in tab. Make sure they are ticked in the right pane Archive tab, however. They also must be ordered correctly in the left pane. See this for more details. Only run the Skyrim Launcher at the beginning of the guide, where it mentions it, though (Section 1B). If you run the Skyrim Launcher later (after you adjust .ini settings, it could lose the settings for future profiles).
  20. The MO configurator tool is good for editing most line items in Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini, but some it has trouble with. I suggest getting a tool like Notepad++. This makes anything with code, like .ini files, much easier to read. (By default, after installing you'll have to "right-click --> open with Notepad++" to open files with it.) Then edit the files manually. Can be found in "[...]Mod Organizer\Profiles\[current profile name]". Just open the file, ctrl-f to find, and search the .ini file in question to see if the setting you are trying to find is there. You can probably edit most items in the configurator, and double-check by opening up the file yourself with Notepad++ and verify. I think the sResourceArchiveLists are in by default, but you should verify to make sure (I'm not at home right now to check). Edit: Also, you are fine to install Steam, Skyrim and everything on the "C:\" drive, as long as it's not in the default location (Program Files). A new folder like C:\Games is just fine. Also, I noticed you mention you installed all mods, but are now working on .ini section of the guide. A little out of order, but it should be fine as long as you paid attention to all the info in the "detailed description" for each mod in the list (some special instructions are needed), and installed the mods in the order listed (top to bottom). In MO, the order mods are installed is the default "priority number" MO uses to load textures, etc. Later mods in the list override earlier mods if there are conflicts. You can edit the priority value later (and the guide asks you to do this in some cases), but in other cases, no mention is made as it works by default (but only if the mods were installed in order). Hopefully that makes a bit of sense (I'm in a rush typing on my lunch break).
  21. Hey Tomack. I recommend not messing around with DDSopt and just use the STEP Vanilla Optimized Textures (installed during 2.D Fixes). DDSopt is a great tool, but by far the most benefit is found from optimizing the vanilla Skyrim textures, which STEP has already done. Optimizing the textures of the other mods helps FPS a little bit, but I don't think it's worth the hassle for most users.
  22. @orionstyles - We welcome constructive criticism here at STEP, but please stay civil in your commentary. I have edited your post to remove the offensive comments. Please reference the STEP Community Citizenship guidelines.
  23. Hi Equinox, welcome to STEP. :-) The STEP Nexus page contains both the STEP Compilation (main files section) and the STEP Vanilla Optimized Textures (optional files section). At your point of the STEP installation, just install one of the optional files - the Standard version is STEP baseline. Later on, in the Patches section of the STEP installation, download and install one of the main files (the STEP Compilation).
  24. I don't use SR:LE, so I can't answer most of your questions, but I do know the answer to one: What you name a mod in Mod Organizer (the name that shows up in the left pane) doesn't matter at all. Only the contents of the mod matter. The folder name you create for SKSE.ini does matter, as it is part of the contents of the mod. As Neovalen states in his guide, that folder you create in this step should be named "SKSE". Edit: Just to clarify it a bit more for you...when you mention other mods are looking for SKSE, they are looking for the folder referenced above. MO only uses the contents of the mods when it loads Skyrim, not the names in the left pane.
  25. If it's already included in the STEP patches, that's fantastic. It definitely would be a good deed for the community to upload a USLEEP version on Nexus, for sure. I wonder if the USLEEP Farmhouse Chimneys CRF Patch would be a good candidate for The Ruffled Feather? RF already contains the optional chimney stacks, etc. for this mod. Edit: Also, if the Farmhouse Chimneys CRF patch is in the STEP patches, the note in the wiki page referencing it should be removed: I assumed from this note that it wasn't in the patches, so I downloaded it myself and used Mator's USLEEP swap masters script to add it.
