Check the OP of this thread for all of the mods required for the Extended Patch option not to be grayed out. Improved Combat Sounds is required. Edit: Ninja'd on mobile again.

Definitely, I agree that is the expected outcome, Grant. It is weird and unnecessarily confusing, but what can you do? :-P Just to summarize the screenshot, as it is small and hard to see: skse.ini is in a valid location in MO. First block is set to 768, Second block is set to 256.Memory blocks log shows the first block is set to 256, and the second block is also set to 256Last line on log shows first block overflow (as expected with this setting) at 256It might be worth checking your data directory to see if there is another skse.ini in there somehow. Edit: Clarity

Skyrim No Start, ENBoost Warning
Nebulous112 replied to aba42's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Try validating the integrity of the local game cache through Steam, as GrantSP suggested. Also make sure the skse.ini in MO is in a folder named "SKSE". Edit: MO uses a virtual Skyrim Data directory. As it is explained in the MO guide. -
No worries. That forum is for "General" Support and Troubleshooting. It is one of a bunch of forums in the overarching Support and Troubleshooting category. This view of the forum may shed more insight: https://forum.step-project.com/

Skyrim No Start, ENBoost Warning
Nebulous112 replied to aba42's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It doesn't matter if you leave them for now, as you can always regenerate new .ini's in the default My Documents location by deleting them and running SkyrimLauncher.exe again. One way or another you should get the .ini tweaks STEP recommends in the MO profile, though, and once that is done, test it to see if the problem remains. -
STEP extended v2.2.9.2 setup finished - just a few minior issues
Nebulous112 replied to BUBISHI's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Here's my take, but maybe someone else has some ideas: 1. See this regarding the STEP Extended Patch and this regarding Hearthfire Extended. 2. Not sure what's going on there. Definitely keep an eye on that if it keeps happening. 3. Check your Dual Sheath Redux settings in the MCM menu. 4. I wouldn't trust anything weird happening in the Helgen intro until you are out of the cave for a while. Too many scripts starting. This issue sounds weird, and I haven't heard of that before, but I would worry a lot less about it simply because it was in the Helgen intro. 5. Not sure, hard to diagnose without a screenshot. And I don't know much about graphical glitches anyway. Is VSync enabled? Also, you do not need any of the Better Quest Objectives patches, as they are included in the STEP Extended Patch. -
How to change follower distance
Nebulous112 replied to Tomack13's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Sorry, nothing else comes to mind. I don't see how it could be connected to Convenient Horses, but I'm not an expert on that mod. Maybe someone else has some ideas. -
LOL. Nice. I wonder what 2100 signifies in numerology (next STEP version)? Not something I have ever looked into. However, this should be moved to the Banter Inn forum, which is appropriate for general musings. :-)

Skyrim No Start, ENBoost Warning
Nebulous112 replied to aba42's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hi Allen, Please use spoiler tags for long strings of text like that; it makes things looks so much cleaner. Highlight the text you want to be affected, click the button to the left of font, and select "spoiler". It would be great if you could edit your post. See the STEP Community Citizenship Guidelines regarding Posting for more details: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:STEP_Community_Citizenship#Posting Regarding your query: "ReservedMemorySizeMb=64" should be set to 512 as per the guide. Start at 512 and test at progressively lower values until you experience stutter. At that point the setting is too low. You are looking in the wrong place for your Skyrim.ini and your SkyrimPrefs.ini. MO stores these separately for each MO profile. Go to "[...]\Mod Organizer\profiles\[name of your profile here]". Again, please read the MO Guide. It is very useful. Edit: Also, it would be good to know your SKSE.ini values. -
Actually, I don't think the two nested folders is the problem. vile83r has skse.ini in an SKSE folder, inside a mod named SKSE. All correct, just a little confusing because the mod name is SKSE. I wonder, do you have Sheson's memory patch installed another way? Perhaps SSME? There must be something overwriting the skse.ini further down the list (higher priority order).

ExpandSystemMemory or Sheson's memory patch?

Yeah, Safety Load is obsolete from what I've read. I would remove it if I were you. -
ExpandSystemMemory or Sheson's memory patch?
Nebulous112 replied to Jailhouseblues's question in General Skyrim LE Support
That is the correct approach! Well done solving your own issue. :-) It's good to note that ExpandSystemMemoryX64 in enblocal.ini has only been reported to cause crashes when the DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB in skse.ini (first block) is set higher than 768. See this: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENBlocal_INI/Memory#ExpandSystemMemoryX64 As you just set it to 1024 to stop your crashing, I suggest turning ExpandSystemMemoryX64 off again. -
How to change follower distance
Nebulous112 replied to Tomack13's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I think a STEP mod already has this functionality, "Come Together N Out of the Way". The MCM menu is titled "Nausicaa's Tweaker". As to exactly how to move followers closer or farther back, I'm not sure. I think the author shows how to do it in one of the videos on the Nexus page: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33562/? -
ACCEPTED Not So Fast - Main Quest (by cdcooley)
Nebulous112 replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Nice! I think that's a great option for a mage character. I also like the fact that the user can choose whether to enable this or not. Choice is always a plus in my books. Which is the default setting, might I ask? -

S.T.E.P. instructions state "merge" files when asked? Nope.
Nebulous112 replied to aba42's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
I have merged aba42's two topics about merging, as the subject matter is very similar. I have also marked the topic as solved.- 12 replies

Hearthfire extended error after sorting masters
Nebulous112 replied to Ogham's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I saw this three pages in on the Hearthfire Extended Nexus posts page: Kinaga (the mod author) mentions on the first page: -
Scarla has been busy! It looks SPs meshes are in Farmhouse Chimneys now. Will this affect install options for The Ruffled Feather? Changelog: Version 2.5- Fixed many of the patches that for some reason used injected records Version 2.4- Added SparrowPrince's alternative meshes - Added patches for Arthmoor's village mods - Added a patch for Aurora Village - Added some merged patches Version 2.3- Updated the Cutting Room Floor patch for USLEEP

Yes, that link worked fine. I was already logged into Dropbox, and the gallery with the four pictures came up without a problem. Wow, that smoke is fairly thick. Nice wooded area you live in, Grant. Hopefully the fire can be brought under control quickly.

Not good, Grant! That's a frightening situation. Stay safe out there. :-( FYI, I cannot see the pictures - I think they are dead links.

No powers for convenient horses
Nebulous112 replied to Tomack13's question in General Skyrim LE Support
MCM is a great feature of SkyUI. It allows other mods to have menus within the game without having to resort to spells and powers. Check out Gopher's explanation of MCM here. You can reach the MCM menu by pressing escape to reach the main menu. The Mod Configuration Menu is in the main Skyrim menu in-game (available after the Helgen intro). You should see the Convenient Horses MCM there. You may have seen references like this in the guide: Those are talking about the MCM menu. See this post for the current recommended STEP MCM settings, in case you missed them the first time. -
Which ENB's can we install with Step extended?
Nebulous112 replied to RadikulRAM's question in Post-Processing Support
I know many STEP folks on this forum use Vividian ENB. I've been thinking of giving it a go myself. Some mods may need to be reinstalled with other settings for ENB. I know Realistic Water 2 has an ENB setting recommendation on the wiki page. There will be a few others I think, I don't know if it is documented. -
I agree that including this mod is unnecessarily confusing. I think I've read somewhere that this was done for the benefit of those who may not follow the guide, and only pick through for mod ideas. That approach doesn't make sense to me. There are three places I see this same thing happening with ENBoost. Here, the Elys-AltF4 mod, and in the STEP-recommended Nvidia videocard settings. For the latter, the guide tells you to turn Anisotropic Filtering to x16, but on the next line it says to skip that step if using ENBoost.
