  1. The thread title is a bit misleading as well, a dirty edit and a UDR are two completely different (somewhat opposite) problems. Dirty edit adds valid vanilla data to a mod and a UDR deletes valid vanilla data from a mod. Technically a UDR is quite a bit more complicated and a dirty edit is more vague, but won't get into that here. Â I'd need to do a ton of research and create some solid definitions and examples, good project for the testing guide. Suffice to say vanilla data (from skyrim.esm, update.esm, and dawnguard.esm) should not be added or subtracted from a mod in any way shape or form. It may be changed or disabled if it is properly mastered and documented, but that seems to be a rare occurrence.
  2. No, follow Z's directions and use the bat file and both fix mods on the HR bsa files. Normally that would be true, but the text files and shortcuts included in the bsa are completely broken files and will crash ddsopt (or any program that is not meant to handle broken files).
  3. Thanks for this. Would you mind putting the longer lists (more than five lines) in a spoiler and listing the full name of the mod these come from, so we can set an example for others to post here :D
  4. Just outside of whiterun and riverwood are some of the most challenging areas of the game to render, turn off all your AA and your ENB and try again. If that fixes it you are gonna have to keep them off or drop some mods or do some major recalibration.
  5. Yes this is the recommended method, just be aware that if one file is updated in TPC you have to redo the whole thing. So if you are not totally ocd about updating, its a much better solution. DDSopt 8 is extremely optimized to run faster and also has dozens of bugfixes, so there is a substantial time and quality difference.
  6. Its all about monitor calibration, then in game calibration, and only then picking an ENB that you mostly like and fine tuning it.
  7. Sounds like your not using the fog mods recommended. Check the wiki.
  8. First time I have heard issues of too dark with enb, usually its way in the opposite direction. Did you try using a torch?
  9. The only thing STEP says about sleeping 31 days is at the _end_ of the list of all the installs. Which (to me at least) means after installing STEP. Doesn't mention anything (unless I missed it) about sleeping 31 days after upgrading (or permanently uninstalling for that matter) any mod..? I had a good explanation right in the STEP guide but looks like it got cut, anyway it is in the troubleshooting guide and the SIG.
  10. The shaderinput folders are for enb versions prior to .113, and yes you do need to fixparallax for version .113+ to turn on its included shaders. on the fixflags I quote Boris So having them all off by default is the most optimized setting, you can then turn on what you need for your personal setup.
  11. Google download for BOSS
  12. We already require to sleep for 31 days after any install...
  13. He was very unhappy with z's bat file and the directions how to properly combine everything. He took it as a personal insult that his own mod and instructions wasn't good enough.
  14. Uninstall Deadly Spell Impacts and then reinstall it, you are missing the textures from it somehow.
  15. This was removed about 4 months ago by author request, he seems to have completely left the mod scene now so you can follow z's instructions without worrying about getting flamed by him. Â They should go right where it says (waiting for ddsopt 8 release).
  16. Make sure you pay attention to the compatibility list. This also includes its own lighting packages for different environments, you probably need to choose either these or the ones listed on our ENB Choices page, testing will be required.
  17. Discussion thread: Run For Your Lives by Arthmoor Wiki Link Another one from Arthmoor, this just makes unarmed people run indoors during a dragon attack. +1 for common sense
  18. Yeah I know I was looking forward to this. I won't be buying Dawnguard until there is an official patch for it and that may be a looong wait. Thanks for the effort I2edShift, it looks fabulous for those with Dawnguard.
  19. I believe that is actually a debugging switch, used for getting info and testing while making a configuration. I haven't personally made one from scratch yet so no idea how it works. Good place to ask though, Staind should know or be able to find out for us. I have the same question about the parallax flag, I think this whole section is just for debugging though. Confirmation anyone?
  20. Well its done, and its not optimal, but no blame anywhere certainly not Farlo or the testers who were totally awesome and got the thing out the door.
  21. Skytest requires a new game, period, running it without starting a new game brings new meaning to masochism.
  22. Yeah it appears that line completely slipped by the staff and all testers. Just ignore it, it will be removed from any future versions.
  23. It was never in STEP, it was in an optional pack. We didn't have time to review all the optional packs we had planned so we just removed them all to get STEP 2.2 out the door. Either this or a similar mod will make it into a STEP 2.3 optional pack. Always use esp versions of mods, esm versions are by their very nature corrupt (unless you have a copy of the Bethesda version of the CK where you are allowed to make them). Authors that use corrupt esm's to cure problems with their mods are either misinformed or bowing to the pressure from the crowd.
  24. SkyRealism - ENB Evolved  The challenger for the new standard for a Vanilla Skyrim ENB It will cost you some serious fps and he gives a nice breakdown, if you have power to spare this may be the best out so far. 25. Yes those mods work with any ENB, although you shouldn't need them in a mod that is actually fully configured for .119 features (notably unique effects for interior and exterior and weather conditions) giving a dizzying array of possibilities and tons of extra work to cover every possibility. Â I haven't even seen anybody try yet, cheers to the first masochist that does.
