  1. yep, if missing textures you get purple blocks, and if sound well than no sound, etc. you can quickly test it out by editing your ini archive list. I should work the same if the file is actually missing or renamed but I haven't had a reason to test that.
  2. yep been using it since day 1, its great if your living on the bleeding edge testing out new mods, its a great typing saver.
  3. Wow, this wins hands down for the most in depth off topic discussion. Enb and symbolic links and wyre bash mashup. [z929669=>] Thanks! Moved off topic posts to new thread !
  4. We're still working on the login for the wiki, it will be available shortly. But it is here STEP WIKI
  5. From the horse's mouth Wyre Bash thread
  6. You get this message if you delete or uninstall or deactivate an esp without using BAIN/Bash.
  7. Yeah this is because of the way shadows are drawn in the skyrim engine, they use the cpu instead of gpu and also additional cpu resources are used by all the npc AI that reacts to the lighting that obviously doesn't happen if you use post processing, if you use a post process to do the lighting then it should be mostly gpu. So your mileage will vary based on your hardware.
  8. Last version I see is still the R5 test 3 for Skyrim 1.4.21 released back on feb 24, although his site is rather disorganized, is it hidden somewhere?
  9. Yeah you won't much benefit from skyboost if you can already run skyrim at 40+ fps, those running at 10, 20, 30 fps can receive amazing performance boosts. With your machine you will only see noticeable improvements (at least a +5 fps increase) in extremely heavy cpu areas, lots of shadows, falling leaves, smoke are the situations you'll get a bump. The new version will include gpu optimizations as well so you may get more mileage out of it (fog, magic effects, fire and possibly even post processing, SSAO, and AA will take much less gpu power).
  10. You would probably need to muck with file permissions as well, setting deny write capability to the system user could do the trick. But it doesn't fix a serious issue, it just makes it easier to manage say 100 SW subscriptions with a single click. A more preferable route to take would be to actually automate steam to favorite all subscriptions and then unsubscribe from them, easy enough if there are local config files but I fear that stuff is in the cloud.
  11. A little overlap is actually preferred imho. My focus is primarily on educating the user about skyrim, while putting it into a helpful context with other factors that influence it. I am using the installation process as a vehicle to deliver this information to the unsuspecting user mwhahahahah.
  12. Now available on the wiki. The intention is about 3 pages of text and 6 pages of screenshots and video.Take a gander and let me know if I left anything out, my organization is foobar, or if anything is in the least bit unintuitive. Also can we get a WIP section please.
  13. I'm including it in my Skyrim Installation guide, and your right about mod updates I try and stay clear of new features in a mod (unless I'm testing it), but I update the texture mods and anything with a bug-fix obviously.
  14. Nice job, very clear now.
  15. Congrats on the release :) Your first description line is a little clunky. Put the power back into your hands when it comes to Automatic Updates for Skyrim. This program will enforce the Automatic Updates setting in Steam when you don't want updates, and allow you to restore it when you do. I would change it to something more along the lines of: Put the power back into your hands when it comes to Automatic Updates for Skyrim. This program will allow you to use all the online features of steam and will enforce your preferred update settings rather than allowing steam to reset them to defaults arbitrarily.
