  1. The guide is 29 pages for a reason, there is 10 pages of fluff (first 9 and very last), the rest is a dense description of how to mod Skyrim without breaking it and if you are skipping it you are gonna have problems, period. Â I think that we should work out a way to incorporate all the installation data (12 pages) into and in between the mod tables (7 pages) for a uniform experience that doesn't allow skipping. Its already there. People don't even read the page that tells them how to interpret the tables...
  2. No reason to package them back into bsa really, just use 7zip to archive the directory or dds files. The way I do it is I unpack textures.bsa and the Hi res bsa's. I apply the HR DLC fix and Tweaks mods with our custom bat file to the directories. Then I merge all three directories, pasting the fixed HR directories over the vanilla textures. Then I DDSopt that directory, archive with 7zip and name it Fixed Vanilla HR Textures.7z and keep it 2nd in my Wrye Bash bain tab right after my Vanilla Skyrim.7z (see SIG) and before USKP. I been waiting for DDSopt 8 to get out of beta before I put this into SIG fully fleshed out, been months now.
  3. We knew this was gonna happen from the start and made every effort to inform our users, I'll likely write up a paragraph to be inserted in between each table for 2.3 that will reiterate that if they are just following the instruction in the table they are not actually installing STEP but an extremely bastardized version of maybe 40% of the potential quality.
  4. If this was a vanilla skin replacer sure, but it requires DD, a mod that has been all over the map as far as quality, perhaps the author has finally calmed down and learned some discipline but its kinda hard to believe
  5. not sure what your talking about in the slightest, if I had to guess I'd say you repackaged them using oblivion bsa format, but more likely you have misstated the problem
  6. Why are you using the launcher anyway? You should be launching from skse, that will certainly solve the problem. Actually you should be launching skse from within Wrye Bash or Mod organizer :P
  7. Confirmed, steam will redownload them no matter what you try to do, in fact you have to make a customer service call to valve and have them remove the dlc from your account if you want to stop it, just leave it where it is. Bash doesn't know how to read a bsa, you have to use 7z (or zip, rar).
  8. Whether or not we advise to do that will be a topic of discussion for 2.3, if bash can't see into a bsa yet than probably yes.
  9. 4gb if the laa switch is set, which it is on skyrim since 1.4, but skyrim doesn't need more than 3GB, but that extra gig really does help with stability.
  10. It's still an active franchise, they have a movie (and new game) coming out soon and an MMO. Can't really blame WB on this particular issue, especially since all MERP would have to do is change all the copyrighted names and keep going. From a marketing and business standpoint they should just hire all these guys, it would be a big win for everyone, but that won't happen.
  11. did you delete your ini's (RendererInfo.txt, skyrim.ini, and skyrimprefs.ini) and launch from steam to rebuild them?
  12. As far as ENB being the issue, all that stuff was fixed in version .113, unless D3DOverrider has an overlay there should be no issue
  13. easy enough to test, rename your ini files. then launch skyrim it will remake them and test to see if the problem still happens. If it does its a mod problem, if not it was a problem in your ini, you will need to hunt it down, probably a typo when you changed it.
  14. Your ctd's are not caused by running out of memory, you need to check your papyrus log for errors, I am pretty sure your save game is completely corrupt. Generally that is caused by uninstalling and upgrading a lot of mods without making a good clean save first and afterwards. Check the troubleshooting guide for assistance.
  15. Added a little content and structure.
  16. Has he actually improved isoku's work? Â Or either of the 2 mods in step, cinematic and dynamic fires?
  17. You recommend ENB, but on the https://enbdev.com/doc_skyrim_en.htm web site, he recommends to not force AA from the driver. This is confusing for me because I don't know whether AA is taken care of with ENB(through SMAA?) or through the launcher video settings. For instance Project ENB and Ehanced Vanilla ENB don't have smaa.dll but Countervibe does. And also TweakGuide is recommending AAx4 or 8. On a different matter you talk about: On my machine, if I set shadows to Ultra(4096), my FPS plummet on zoning out of an interior cell randomly. I can correct it by alt-tabbing out and back in or avoid it altogether by setting shadows to "High". At first I thought I had tried to pushed my system too far, until I sharted using fraps and discovered the pattern. I may be missing some fix I haven't been able to find and if I am please let me know what it is. I just thought it might be worth mentioning(it's a known issue btw). I have a couple of suggestions as well and they are worth what you paid for them ;) You might consider having a logo for a good housekeeping seal of approval that modders might add, it would benefit both parties I believe. And since Wrye Bash seems likely to become more of requirement in the not so distant future, having a bcf repository might be a good idea. I'm really tired and hope I haven't come off too dry or critical. I appreciate all the effort you have gone to and look forward to installing the recommended mods. If I find anything else I'll try to report it along with a possible solution. Good catch, it is a mistake, that information is way out of date and should have been updated to use the SMAA Injector with ENB instead. As for the shadowmap 2048 is just fine.  I've posted that same alt tab fix many times, its actually a memory leak in the skyrim engine. BCF's will soon be unnecessary we have a much more flexible project (Thunderbolt) in the works.  We will be using the wizards for Wrye bash and its patcher in the future though, in tandem with Thunderbolt. Good idea about the logo, I kind of toyed with that idea many months ago, but we weren't really at a point to start up something like that yet, now we probably are.  In fact we have a small logo from the wiki that would work beautifully,  only problem is we can't revoke it once we give someone permissions to use it so it could cause problems as STEP regularly dumps mods as our requirements change (mostly become more demanding).
  18. That is an error, project enb looks terrible without the additional files (I mean it was totally designed with them in mind). And COT is core STEP not an optional install (unless using Dawnguard which I don't recommend until it is fixed), the wording needs to be updated. Definitely use countervibe or another ENB if not using the extra's. These things happen when we release quickly, easily fixed. Also need to include SMAA on the enb choices page.
  19. Sounds like a problem with the mod you are installing afterwards, best to talk to the author. Â The bashed patch is only for combining leveled lists, which are mostly objects or creatures added to the game, STEP doesn't currently include anything that needs patching.
  20. The size of this mod is completely ridiculous, anyone run this through ddsopt yet? I bet it cuts the size in half or more.
  21. I'm pretty sure this only touches interior lighting.
  22. Umm, puuloo its included in Project Enb so its still in STEP. I think you need to actually install STEP sometime before getting crazy with these conspiracy theories.
  23. Indeed. Â It's compatible with everything in STEP, I'm gonna seriously look at it for inclusion in the Morrowind pack.
  24. I'm not working on this yet at all, in fact I just installed Skyrim today on a fresh OS to test out STEP 2.2 and get going with STEP Thunderbolt again. My internet has been down for a week and I discovered I had been neglecting other RL issues that I am still working on. So no work in the foreseeable future. After I finish Thunderbolt and the Post Processing Pack, I'll start working on my Morrowind pack and this will get a lot of examination, probably around the holidays.
