1. You can either delete them or leave them at your discretion.
2. I just loaded Kryptopyr's FISS preset from the Timing is Everything mod page and documented these settings in the Recommendations section. The one questionable item is that Dragonborn is set to start after "timing unknown" and I don't what this means so I PM'd asking for clarification.
3. Delete Loot and reinstall it the same way you did with TESVEdit and then reconfigure Mod Organizer to find Loot in the appropriate location. After you cleaned BirdsHF.esp and clicked exit, did you check the "create backup" checkbox? If you didn't, the backup esp won't exist so you don't need to do anything.
4. Run Loot, click Sort, and then click Apply. If nothing seems to change, it may be none of the mods need to be moved.
5. If you are using Nausica's Tweaker, you might open the mod configuration settings and verify your weapon speed is 100%.
6. When you install the Staff of Magnus hotfix, Mod Organizer pops up a dialog with the name of the mod at the top. Change the mod name to be the same as aMidianborn Book of Silence - Unique Items and click Install. It will then popup a dialog asking if you want to merge the hotfix into the main mod. Install Content Addon now and then create the bashed patch when you reach that part of the guide.
7. Thinking out loud...
8. I'm afraid you won't be able to do much with a 1GB video card.
9. If you've added a lot of mods on top of STEP and/or used higher-resolution meshes and textures, you may be exceeding the boundary of DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB. To verify this, install and enable Memory Blocks Log, then play the game until you reproduce the crash and post the log here in spoiler tags like this:
paste the text in the log file here
10. 1. I'm not really a big fan of wallpapers and haven't really looked for any wallpapers. I haven't found a good site for avatars. 2. Two 24-inch 1920x1200 monitors. I want three, but the third one won't fit on my desk. 3. IPS 4. I don't use emoticons often, but usually banging my head on a wall fits. Doh! 5. I used to be an adventurer like you until I took an arrow to the knee. Yeah, I'm pretty boring. 6. Coke or pop 7. Microsoft Security Essentials because it's very lightweight and adequate unless some nameless scammy antivirus apps.
11. This is strictly my personal view, but I've gotten in the habit of installing Alternate Start because I dread going through tediously boring cart ride one more time or help me I'll SCREAM! I also like the option of starting as a variety of characters throughout Skyrim and you can wake up at pretty much any inn in Skyrim so you don't have to coc to a location with unknown results to begin testing.
12. This. I've always preferred role playing in first person from the perspective of seeing through the eyes of the character because I think it is more immersive and realistic. I think it's unnatural to play from third-person perspective, and it's not realistic to see enemies closing in from behind. I'm not much of a fan of depth of field either because it seems to be an unnatural effect that mimics a camera lens rather than the human eye. I also find it rather distracting, but I confess my eyes aren't nearly as good as they used to be.
13. I don't think so because the driver is at a very low level so it can't effect a single mesh/texture like a torch disappearing or a grass popping in and out.
14. He means the MCM settings.
15. Skyrim Performance Monitor is used to benchmark Skyrim's performance and anything in the charts usually has no correlation with crashes. The one exception may be when VRAM hits maximum, but this obviously is not the case in the charts you posted. Memory Blocks Log is usually the most helpful in diagnosing issues related to crashes, but you need to keep Memory Blocks Log enabled and play until the game crashes. Once you've managed to crash Skyrim, examine the log to see if the last line hits the maximum allocation limit (DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB-256). If it has, you need to increase DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB and try again. Also keep in mind that the memory allocated in this block bounces around quite a bit depending on the area, the number of objects and NPCs/creatures in the area, etc. I'm not say this is the issue, but it's always the first place I look since this is generally the most common issue.
16. I don't mind at all and thank you. EDIT: Perhaps I worded that a bit harshly. I didn't mean we don't care, I meant that we could leave these options enabled and let the user chose whether to install such mods.
17. Sorry, this is a copy 'n paste bug. This one should have "needs more research" instead of a definitive no because I'm trying to wrap my head around the Eastern style swords and how they might fit into the game. You do make a good point that the sword used by the Blades closely resembles a katana, but the scimitar used by the Redguard is also an Eastern-style weapon. Now that I think about it a bit more, I'm wondering if we even care about the Eastern style and fantasy swords? Specifically, (assuming I'm not wrong here) STEP doesn't include any weapons that fit into these two categories so it would be the user's decision whether to include any mods that fit into the Eastern or fantasy styles. Assuming this is the case, these two settings wouldn't necessarily be applicable. This is just a thought and I'd like to hear what others think about this as well.
18. I don't think this is really much of an issue because Skyrim isn't nearly as CPU intensive as some people claim. I rarely see Skyrim using more than 20% CPU on my system. The biggest bottleneck (by a wide margin) is disk I/O and then GPU.
19. In the profile that you need to run FNIS or RSPatcher, look carefully down the left pane to make sure any generated patches for other profiles are unchecked. For example, you may have Profile 1 with "FNIS Output 1" so you need to make sure "FNIS Output 1" in Profile 2 is unchecked so GenerateFNISForUsers can't find it. The same goes for the patches generated by RSPatcher and any other patcher. One of the confusing factors with Mod Organizer's profile system (and one that drives me bonkers) is that every mod in Profile 1 appears in Profile 2 and vice versa, so it can be a bit too confusing to keep things straight. EDIT: One last thing... any files created as a result of running GenerateFNISForUsers or a patcher must be created into a new mod with a unique name (say FNIS Output). If you drag the files from Overwrite into the FNIS mod instead of creating a new mod, it may cause issues when you try to run the patches in another profile.
20. Yes, this is with SkyUI. The vanilla game has that awful menu system and I don't think it lets you switch between them. You pokin' fun at me, SRB?
21. Move the four *.esm files in Overwrite to their own mod folders so you can sort them into the correct order. When you're finished you should have this in the left pane: Cleaned UpdateUnmanaged: DawnguardCleaned DawnguardUnmanaged: HeartfiresCleaned HearthfiresUnmanaged: DragonbornCleaned DragonbornThe ones tagged "Unmanaged:" are the *.esms in the Skyrim\Data directory that haven't been cleaned. The ones named "Cleaned *" are the *.esm files in Overwrite that you just cleaned. In other words, create a mod named "Cleaned Update" and move Update.esm from Overwrite into this mod; then create a mod named "Cleaned Dawguard" and move Dawnguard.esm from Overwrite to this mod, etc. Step 3 is correct, but you'll want the oldest version of Dawguard.esm.backup files. The oldest one is the one that hasn't been cleaned.
22. Since your default profile is working fine, you might copy the ini files from the default profile into your STEP profile to see if this fixes it. You can find these files in the ModOrganizer/profiles/[profile] folder (where [profile] is the name of your profile). I can't think of any of the tweaks in this section that could cause this problem. Once you get back to a working profile, try each section one at a time (Archive, Camera, Combat, etc.) and test after each section to see if you can figure out which setting is causing the issue.
23. I apologize because we must have cross our terminology wires somewhere. Now that I see you are using Project ENB, I downloaded it and I can confirm you do need this version of dxgi.dll. This looks like a wrapper for the DirectX Graphics Infrastructure and is probably required for some effects provided by this ENB preset. EDIT: SweetFX readme.txt states this is a "DirectX 10/11 proxy dll that will inject shaders into DirectX 10/11 games" I would leave it in the Skyrim directory since it is included with Project ENB and is apparently required.
24. Now this is interesting. Did you know you can press Left Alt to switch between the inventory and magic menus? Press I to open inventory, then press Left Alt to switch to the magic menu, and Left Alt to switch back to inventory.
