MO Says Load Order Wrong; Question on STEP Patch
GrantSP replied to Sarcasm's question in General Skyrim LE Support
There's an existing topic that covers most of your concerns about MO's order message and although the mods may differ the important aspects of that discussion are the same. I might also suggest a thorough read of the wiki and a good skim through the 'pinned' topics in the MO forum. -
After "burning in" my new rig for a while and setting everything up just right over the last little while, I've just installed Witcher 3 and started modding the game. OMG, the detail of the game and the quality of gameplay. Amazing. Still not sure about all your choices of mods, I'll see how I go with most of them, but so far so good.

As far as I can tell from users that saw that same error message it doesn't actually break anything. I too had that message but as far as I can see nothing is wrong.
-
Am I correct in assuming the 'Alternative look for Triss' is an addition with the new patch? Since you make no mention to disable that along with those for "Yennefer & Ciri". I'm going to disable that also.

I've now been using Win 10 on my laptop for a while and recently installed an OEM version on my desktop. This is what I did to tame Windows 10. Disclaimer: During installation choose 'Custom install' and uncheck EVERY option that is offered by Windows to 'assist you in your experience'. These include: Personalization Personalize your speech, typing and inking input by sending contacts and calendar details along with other associated input data to Microsoft.Send typing and inking data to Microsoft to improve the recognition and suggestion platform.Let apps use your advertising ID for experiences across apps.Location Let Windows and apps request your location, including location history, and send Microsoft and trusted partners some location data to improve location services.Browser and protection User SmartScreen online service to help protect against malicious content and downloads in sites loaded by Windows browsers and Store apps.Use page prediction to improve reading, speed up browsing, and make your overall experience better in Windows browsers. Your browsing data will be sent to Microsoft.Connectivity and error reporting Automatically connect to suggested open hotspots. Not all networks are secure.Automatically connect to networks shared by your contacts.Send error and diagnostic information to Microsoft. Having done so you should have a minimal installation of Win 10 'straight out of the box', however after logging in you can prune some more dross from the system by running Powershell as an administrator and entering these commands to remove some apps that MS wants you to have. The format of the commands is a "Get-AppxPackage" which searches the installed database for matching entries that contain the next string: *{app name}* where the * are any characters and the {app name} contains the string specific to the app(s) you are after. Then a pipe | is used to send that selection to a "Remove-AppxPackage" which does the actual removal. Warning! The following commands are using a very powerful system tool and if you are not sure of what they do, please do not proceed. I or STEP will not be responsible for any damage that may result from these instructions. Windows Updates Open Settings -- Update & Security -- Windows UpdateAnd then select "Advanced options". When that opens select "Choose how updates are delivered."Turn that option from "On"to "Off".One further step needed to remove the entry from the list of installed apps is to open a command prompt as admin and enter: %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstallMy system is now what I would consider a good base from where I will now start to build a solid gaming base. The only issue that still plagues me is Edge. I would really like to remove it but so far have not found a way to do so. Recently the so-called Creator patch is said to have broken the VFS, disabling the Game Bar has also apparently "fixed" this. (All of this is untested by myself as I have not seen it 1st person.) For anyone using Windows 10 (or any successive iteration after this post) you will need to go to your settings and follow these steps: Open Settings, and click/tap on the Gaming icon.Click/tap on Game bar on the left side, and turn on (default) or off Record game clips, screenshots and broadcast using Game DVR.Unselect Show Game Bar when I play full screen games that Microsoft has verified. How to completely disable Cortana. nb. If you have Windows Professional this can be accomplished via the GUI: Group Policy Editor. For the sake of ease the manual registry edit that Windows Home users need to use will be provided. Run the Registry Editor by Win+R "regedit" Navigate to the following key in the left sidebar: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search If that doesn't exist, create a new entry under the \Windows\ parent using the context menu. (ie. right-click on Windows and select New>Key and name "Windows Search".) Invoke the context-menu on this (new) folder and select New> DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it "AllowCortana" and set the value to: "0".

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback

TBH, I don't know. All I know is when I entered the worldspace with them beside me, everyone just started shooting at me! -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
GrantSP replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Works perfectly well for me in Chrome, Firefox and Edge. I can't see why ANY browser wouldn't allow it -
Change it to enable "ventriloquism mode".

Mod Organizer adding mods to the wrong category?
GrantSP replied to cadegorawrz's question in Mod Organizer Support
You may like to refresh yourself with what to expect from categories when using MO. Note the section on this as found in the wiki. Take special note of the first few lines in the box 'Managing Categories' which says: -
Somehow you have changed the default action Firefox takes when it encounters new filetypes. Try this method to remove ALL current associated filetypes you have set with Firefox and see whether you are presented with the 'Launch Application' dialogue shown above. Find the file "mimetypes.rdf" which should be in this folder: "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\13jzgkpd.default\mimeTypes.rdf" The characters in Yellow may be different on your system. Delete it and re-start Firefox.

Mod Organizer adding mods to the wrong category?
GrantSP replied to cadegorawrz's question in Mod Organizer Support
Welcome to STEP. Do you have a custom 'categories.dat' in the MO installation folder? Also since you are on Windows 7 you really should consider using MO 1.3.11 or later. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
No. However, and I hope this doesn't spoil it for you, when you enter the new worldspace if you have companions with you, EVERYONE you meet is hostile towards you and you therefore can't complete questlines offered by some of these individuals. Considering everyone was a ghoul that I encountered initially, I just thought everyone was SUPPOSED to be hostile. I posted on the Nexus page how there should be a simple reminder somewhere in the description about dismissing everyone first. No response of course, considering the age of the mod. So I can't comment on the actual storyline or the mod past the initial load area as I couldn't proceed. It might be brilliant! -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
If you decide to keep 'Beyond Boulder Dome' just remember to dismiss ALL companions before entering the area. Failure to do so will render the entire questlines unplayable. I fact I found only after completely ruining that save. -
xEdit == TES5Edit == FO3Edit == FNVEdit == TES4Edit All the same programme, just renamed to use for different games. You are using an English version of Win7 64bit so I can't immediately see where the difference lies in your system to mine. However there does look to be an issue with way the OS is handling those files. I just checked the plugin and it is explicitly calling those files named as I have them in my last comment. If you have renamed them you will need to reverse those changes. You might also like to ask the author why they named them such. I see no reason to do so as there isn't any possible conflict issues with similarly named files.
-
I examined my installation and the files logged in post as having a '?' in them are actually named using an extended ASCII character and that may be bugging out on your system. That GoldBarrel nif is called in my install: GoldBarrel01°.nif. There are in fact all these files named similarly: GoldPot02°.nifGoldPot01°.nifGoldBarrelDwe°.nifGoldBarrel02°.nifGoldBarrel01°.nifTrRavenGold°.nifTrStars°.nif Now since I only downloaded the one file and not the Main file with the plugin, I can't say if those files are called correctly in it or this is an error of naming. You might like to examine the plugin with xEdit to see if they are correct. Since the actual file operations to copy those files will be using system calls, can you provide us with details about your system? Are you using an English version of Windows? Which one, Win 7, 8.1, 10? Anything else you think might be pertinent.

This may sound like an obvious question but have you actually browsed to Nexus and tried to download a mod using the 'Download with Manager' button? It sounds like you haven't! None of the steps being described here are specific to Mod Organizer. The 'nxm' file protocol is something the Nexus sites have developed and the way Firefox, or any browser handles them, is specific to each browser. The only connection to MO is that when your browser handles these 'nxm' files correctly, MO is called to do the download, not your browser.

Welcome to STEP. There are a few things you should consider. Since it is a large download it is possible the actual file was corrupted and will need to be re-downloaded The file operations may appear to stall and possibly fail if the drive it is taking place on is slow and/or close to full. The progress is done in stages with portions of the file transfer being moved from the temp folder used to unpack the archive and the final installation folder as available RAM is used. Anti-virus, firewall or other OS level software can interfere with file operations and may need special attentionI have just now grabbed the 'Essentials' file and installed it on my laptop setup, which uses a single HDD, and the progress appeared to stall for a few seconds before continuing, but it did complete the install with no error messages. So there is no inherent bug with MO and this specific mod and it comes down to an OS level situation.

[ Q & A ] Using FNIS with Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in Mod Organizer Support
I'm glad that you fixed it but I'm dubious of the reason for the change. There is no solid reason why a simple directory change would account for this behaviour. One thing that I have just now noticed about your setup, you had your MO installed onto an 'I:' drive. Where was this drive and how is it connected to your system? Is it a NAS or some other network attached device? -
Camp McCarran Concourse crash solution
GrantSP replied to oqhansoloqo's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I have only played through that quest just once and I didn't see this issue. My modlist at that stage was stock F&L as it was at that time, about 6 months ago, with no extras. -
DROPPED A Quality World Map - With Roads (by IcePenguin)
GrantSP replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
What exactly fails for you? This mod installs just fine on my system. Just to clarify, it will make no difference what settings you have in the 'Settings -- Plugins' tab for 'FOMOD Installer'. This is a C# style fomod and it will ALWAYS use the "Fomod Installer (external)". -

[ Q & A ] Using FNIS with Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in Mod Organizer Support
This is no longer a FNIS question so can you please start a new topic. In that topic I want you to paste an archive of your MO logs folder. To make them as small as possible delete everything in them first and then try to load a profile into Skyrim or FreeCommander. This will generate only the entries for that session. This is not a known issue, in fact I know of no other user that has this happen to them. Just to clarify there isn't really a virtual-file-system as such, it's more like a trick of folder locations sent to the programs called from MO. -
Weird non-game breaking but (Caravan Mod)
GrantSP replied to Matt714's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I assume you are referring to the double entries? Yes I had that and couldn't be bothered checking why, you only see it on character creation so no issue?
