[Witcher 3][Spoilers] I feel so dirty now!
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's topic in General Game Discussion
I think I'll do a lot more side quests next time and be on a higher level than I currently am. It was the spectres either in Crows Perch or the Wolf Glade. One or two are fine but I get surrounded. Basically it looks like I suck. -
In my playthrough I find myself constantly up against opponents much stronger than I am, sometimes 2 or 3 times as many levels. Sometimes I can fight them and manage, usually when there is only 1 of them and even the boss fights are doable, I just recently claimed the 'Cockatrice Trophy' through one such fight. However in one of the main quest threads involving the 'Bloody Baron' I was completely outplayed no matter which choice I took and since the whole thing was a scripted event I couldn't even retreat to safe location and save my progress. Geralt at level 5 simply doesn't have the skills or tools required to defeat those enemies, as soon as "Quen" would drop I'd get one-shot and suffer humiliation before I could recover. This leads me to the topic at hand. I installed the Debug-console fix and cheated! Now I feel awful. Anyone else resorted to these steps? Or is there anything I'm doing wrong, like trying the main questline before building up my character?

Returning to Skyrim, seeking advice on modding
GrantSP replied to SaA's question in General Skyrim LE Support
My advice, use either SR:LE or Step (with or without extended) and steer clear of adding in extras untill you have the feel of what is provided. Since MO is the tool of choice you can at a later stage install a completely different profile with a different mod set, such as PerMa and see if that takes your fancy. On that point, you must use MO OR another manager, not both, since they manage mods in completely different and conflicting ways. -
Sorry, Witcher 3 has me captured at the moment.

If I might make an observation as one that has never played the game before, your INI recommendations for the HUD should come with an explanation of what they remove. I'm moving through the world very quickly and still only on low player levels and sometimes you can't avoid meeting with high level creatures. The problem is unless you know they are high level and how many HPs they have, you will find the going very tough if you fight them. Sometimes retreat is the best option. Also I wasn't always sure my weapons were doing anything when their HPs weren't visible. It was only when I restored them that I realised my level 4 or 5 Geralt was taking on level 11 & 12 creatures/bandits. Sometimes I was able to slog through but most often I had my @$$ handed to me.

SKYRIMLE .NET Timeout while running external installer

SKYRIMLE .NET Timeout while running external installer
GrantSP replied to Haifisch7734's question in Mod Organizer Support
I'm going to assume your Win 10 is an upgrade from another version because the .NET path you reference is for an older version. Win 10 should have .NET version 4.0 installed at the very latest so follow the instructions in the MO guide to install the latest .NET Framework. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
The "exes" folder exists purely as a repository for the modified game exe IF you don't explicitly name one. Since two identically named files can't exist in the same folder, FNV4GB needs to either place the modified one elsewhere or rename it. The switch you add after the exe: "-laaexe .\FalloutnvMO.exe" is telling the code to keep the modified exe in the same folder but rename it to FalloutnvMO.exe. If you omit that switch FalloutNV.exe will be modified and found in the "exes" folder. Sometimes ENBs need to be in the exact same folder as the calling exe, hence the need to sometimes place them in the "exes" folder alongside the modified ones. However as there are so many versions of ENB around they don't all work in the same manner, hence the confusion on where to put them. None of these things is because of MO or how it handles the patcher. -
reinstalling skyrim, wondering how it would work
GrantSP replied to blackmagic12345's question in Mod Organizer Support
You DON'T have to install BOTH Skyrim and MO onto the same drive. You can keep MO on the HDD and install Skyrim on a SSD and everything will work just fine. -
Searching the interwebs it looks like there has been introduced a quest-breaking bug in the 1.10 patch that means you may need to resort to console commands to progress. In the 'Fool's Gold' quest you encounter a villager pleading with some non-hostile bandits to not eat a pig. These bandits offer you some and when the villager speaks again they say they will have to beat him. Here is where you step in and put them to the sword. Now at this stage one of the bandits stops fighting and just stands by the roasting pig and you can proceed with the quest. Unfortunately when you come back to perform the last few tasks of this quest he again becomes hostile and you proceed to fight him, but no matter what you do he remians in a state of 0 health and you can no longer damage him and he is for all intents, immortal. There is a way to proceed without using the console but it requires you to move throughout the village gathering the pigs without the last bandit seeing you, possible but a pain to do so. Edit: Seems I completely forgot to mention this is a Witcher 3 issue, edited the title to show that now. Probably had some scratching their heads.

GUIDE W3R: The Wild Hunt Revisited (Witcher 3)
GrantSP replied to Neovalen's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
Well you hid that fact very well, the only connection I saw was the link to your modding guide on the Nexus page. You should let more know of your modding prowess here at STEP. Kudos to you, my good man! -
Please read this.

You are looking at two different things. LOOT orders plugins, ESM/ESP files, which are displayed in MO's right-hand pane. The screenshot is pointing to the left-hand pane which is for 'mods', these include ALL the files in a mod not just the plugins.
-
The 'Sort' function uses the exact same code as the full LOOT programme, just without the UI and other features. If you use either the results should be identical. Looking at the list in the OP, this doesn't appear to be a LOOT issue. If I'm not mistaken "Distant Decal Fix" is just a meshes fix and will therefore not even show in LOOT or 'Sort'.

Cleaning Bethesda ESMs
GrantSP replied to Yippee38's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
With the later versions of both xEdit and MO, and depending on the speed of your drives, the cleaned ESMs are those in the "Overwrite" folder. You are not doing anything wrong, it just hasn't been updated yet, and some users are still seeing the older behaviour, though that number is dwindling. -
Crash post non-FWE UI Install Check
GrantSP replied to SergeTroy's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I'm biased, but I strongly urge you to resist going back to NMM to set this up. The problems you will face will far outweigh the benefits of using something familiar. So, just install the guide as it is described so you feel comfortable with the process. Afterwards create a new profile and redo it without the mods you don't want, ie. FWE & its patches. Once you have a working modded game running through MO you will see why so many people use it over NMM. It's just the initial confusion that needs to be removed. This is why these guides exist, to ease the process. -
Crash post non-FWE UI Install Check
GrantSP replied to SergeTroy's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
Your method of cleaning the DLC is fine and the Data tab messages are what is expected. The biggest issue you have described thus far is the failure of FOSE to run correctly. If you can run FOSE from the desktop then there is no reason for MO NOT to run it also. In your last post you mention the UUFO3 patch and Stutter Remover, neither of which are mentioned in your OP. Is what you describe as your load order what you are trying to run or is this just a small subset? The naming of the profile in that screenshot makes me wonder if you are in fact creating separate profiles for each section and hoping they will all work together. -
Crash post non-FWE UI Install Check
GrantSP replied to SergeTroy's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I think you should acquaint yourself with how MO does what it does by reading the wiki and/or watching the tutorial videos. What you describe as 'conflict errors' in the Data tab are 'conflicts' but not always something that needs to be fixed, ie. errors. That is the Data panel panel is only showing you which mod is "winning" the conflict and which ones are "losing". This is part of modding practice, mods you install provide files that replace existing ones and you need to decide if that is what you wanted, in this case you do. As for the DarN Hotfix, the better option would have been to 'merge' that into the existing DarN mod but placing it directly after the original mod in the left-hand pane does the same thing. You will probably find it easier to follow the existing guides used here in STEP and just omit the FWE references, that will provide you with the order of most mods used by FO3 players. -
[WIP] Mator Smash

No problem. I'm going to see if I can setup the Lazurus IDE to handle your repo, I can't get that RAD Studio XE from anywhere. -

Any thoughts on adding Gear Improvements Last Longer? I think it adds an enhanced feel to weapon management. -
Kudos! Now go and spend some time just playing a game or otherwise relaxing, because I'm sure all that effort deserves a reward!

I don't know why it didn't work for you, can you run the processes again to remove them? Just to be clear, I didn't invent these commands, all I did was scour the web for instructions and references and combined all the relevant ones together here for those I know might like them. I've been running my desktop this way for a few days now and already had 1 update sent my way and everything has stayed the same.

Thanks for that link. I added the code for the re-installation and also how to remove the 'alarms, clock & calc'. Also edited the xbox code to "xboxapp". Most of the differences you see are probably from his "Get-AppxPackage" searches being a little more stringent than mine. e.g. Get-AppxPackage *windowscommunicationsapps* | Remove-AppxPackage should be exactly the same as Get-AppxPackage *communi* | Remove-AppxPackage
