  1. If only it also fixed how the decal off ash on roofs etc. looked I would be happy. It is by far one of the worst eyesores in the game atm. Do not know what the artists where thinking when they made it. Snow works because the background is mostly white or whiteish... here we have yelloish background with a grey overlay, the contrast is just too large. But yeh the 4k version for a decal is just a waste really. 2k is good enough. Also you can clearly see a difference between 1k and 2k... its mostly on the lower part of the image, it is more blurry.
  2. Looks like its a distance fog issue. Which will then get amplified due to SweetFX adjusting the contrast. As for textures looking bad further away, then perhaps you have bad mip maps. since they deal with how the texture is supposed to look further away. Guess you could try to use an ENB to test if that makes the problem go away. (In which case it might be shadow related) Just use K ENB or PNENB. It it just for the sake of testing. And those are mostly up to date.
  3. The transparency issue depends entirely on resolution or equivalent AA level. Vsync will do weird screen tearing, and also it is a safeguard against weird physics etc. If you do disable it and your helgen into gets really messed up then that would be why. The game is designed around the 30FPS mark for reasons already stated. In general there should not be any issues by having Vsync on. I personally think its one of the most vital featuers to have on, since I really do hate the screen tearing, and I would rather have that not there, then some other fancy shadow effect etc.
  4. Thunder: Start at 2048 and then slowly increase. You should also never assign too much, since the amount you assign will be what the ENhost.exe file takes or tries too anyway. If you Skyrim was the only program running then you could perhaps get away with it, but since Windows also require some then you should always be lower. Or you will get increased instability.
  5. If said mod has any _p.dds files then you load the mod after so it uses its own parallax textures.
  6. Not anymore sadly. It just took up too much of my time in the end! currently trying to see if I can get pwned in dota 2 instead.
  7. The upper limit of ENBoost is 10Gb... any higher value then that is not going to make a difference. I use 8196 since I have 16Gb RAM and 2Gb VRAM and that is seemingly stable on my rig. When in doubt use your VRAM. If you have issues try adjusting it a little bit. It all comes down to your machine.
  8. Sadly I do not have much time atm to make a guide. But if you give me a mesh I will give you the texture applied to it. Fairly easy to locate once you know the procedure.
  9. From what I have seen so far I am more worried that they are simply making a game based on people nostalgia. Does not look like they have made anything that is radically different compared to the previous titles. IE they still have not figure have not figured out how to make archers behave realistically. And Roman legions are still silly powerful due to the wrong reasons. They where powerful due to their discipline, not so much their weapons etc. Yet all apparently know how to do proper regiments, so the game is still just scaled across a weird dmg. formulae where romans got a silly advantage throughout the game. So might get the game on a 75% sale at some point but not gonna pay full price for what is essentially the same as they have made before.
  10. I have done much work I got laying about since I last said I would contribute. Just this last week I have been making a decision to learn HLSL from the ground up to make sure I get the last stuff I need to know and make my very own stuff instead of relaying on others. If you or anybody else have any questions I am more then happy to help, sadly due to personal issues I am unable to dedicate myself to actually making a guide that is in anyway meaningful for others. In general I think you should stay away from specific presets since that is just confusing now tbh. instead stay focused on the general facts that are true for all. But that is just the way I would do it!
  11. Only issue with this mod is that if you run it with AV it increases load dramatically... since it adds more actors. Also since it adds more actors there is the inherit .... skyrim does not really like more actors issue.
  12. As long as you rename everything correctly then it will! Only real difference between the various mods textures are their naming conventions. (Other then the fact that they are different looking obviously :P )
  13. They still work. The new changes made will automatically be updated into the files if you run with 213 Its only when he makes huge changes and removes or alters the name of many entries that you need to perform anything yourself.
  14. ENB also allows for downscaling. Might be simpler to use. Only limitation is that it only does it in powers of 2 of the current screen resolution.
  15. Only real issue I have with the waves, is that the sounds are off... so you hear waves, but you do not see any. However this should be sort fixable down the road. Also there are a few more locations where I would place a wave. But this is a fairly simple thing to do abeit time consuming. But at least one does not have to generate all the meshes etc. from the ground up.
  16. Only real difference is that ENB is slightly more optimized for Nvidia, since that is what it is being developed on first and foremost. But many people play it without any issues what so ever on AMD as well. Any stability issue due to GFX choice is going to be extremely minimal compared to the issues with the game engine due to massive mod lists. Get the one that offers the best bang for the buck...However also keep in mind that AMD is going to release their next versions soon.. so buying one now is kinda a waste of money.
  17. You really should start to read the basic description on the ENB site! :P No it does no longer require the helper mod. However it does not work entirely the right way because of it. The technical description on wikipedia does a better job at explaining the technical aspects, then I can in my currently tired state.
  18. Since I am currently working on a high res retexture of said flora then I can tell you ... Helps a bit but does not remove the issue entirely. Also depends on how the texture is made. But ultimately screen resolution, and the lighting does wonders to hide the issue. As for ENB´s... try something out. I do not know your tastes :)
  19. Other then higher game resolutions and/or use an Nvidia card (which use different technology to do the same thing) then not really. Last I checked then the author of ENB was considering doing his own AA code to combat this issue, but who knows when and if that will happen. That some textures appear transparent, is a problem with the textures, not the render. I only have it for some of SFO´s trees, but it is extremely minimal with the right ENB settings. The best bet would be to increase the resolution, and then downsample if your monitor cannot handle higher. However do keep in mind that this voids warranty on your monitor! :)
  20. Its like anything else... you have to pay the development costs or the idea is just pointless. Making a super great engine that can push the current technology to its limits have no place, since the vast majority does not have that stuff, and the ones that do most likely would just complain about lousy performance anyways. In a perfect world the CEO´s of the various big gaming companies would get fired, and have to get a job outside of the gaming industry so new people with new ideas come into the scene. There was a nice article a while back while the whole DRM issue was super hot, that the problem was that everytime a studio or company went down, then the CEO would most likely just get hired into another CEO position in the remaining companies, and take the old way of thinking with them hence we never really get anywhere.
  21. The splash effect you can technically just copy over if you wish. Also you can get the water plants etc. Most of the texture wise stuff you can just copy over without issue.
  22. The two last female ones I can sort of reproduce, but that is simply due to the way the mesh is. The first one one the male has me puzzled. With that hair I did not notice it looking that bad. It was a bit out but not to that extent. Other then a few alpha map issues with my current ENB´s lighting then nothing looked really out of the way.
  23. If you can use ENBoost and in general have a stable build then the new 4k textures are worth it! A bit silly, but they do look really nice. Other then that then WATER would still be my personal choice. Mainly because pure waters is just too.... tranquil for my tastes.
  24. So if you install everything up until point 4.7 (People of Skyrim) and start a new game then the hairs look all messed up ? That would be really strange. Only mod that affects characters then would be race menu. But it should not do what you describe. I did not have any issues with hairs during my install... granted that was months ago while the guide was still entirely up to date!
  25. You can use it if you want. If you want to test if your build is stable with it do the following. in the main menu open the console. coc solitudeavenues once ingame type godmode in the console. "tgm" Spawn three dragons of any type and let them go crazy. Depending on how stable your build is then you will be able to go longer or shorter amounts of time without a freeze. (Solitude is rather intense, has many NPC, and the dragons will happily fry or chill or blow them all up! This means that BSF script turns into overdrive!)
