I just have a "total amount" used by my entire system on my keyboard that I got for. with the current ENB versions I am able to pass 40% (I have 16Gb total). Before if I hit that I would instant CTD almost every time. Since that would be the 4Gb figure hit by the game. So whatever Boris has done then my data suggests that it is working and more RAM is being allocated via his. fancy program to allow the game to use more memory.

SKYRIMLE Immersive Spells and Stuff - Spells Emit Light
Aiyen replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The problem with this kind of mod is that moving light sources has to cast shadows not too look like meh. This requires increased CPU time to calculate the shadows. Also when you have more light sources moving at once it just gets more complex. Ultimately it comes down to an aged engine. Afaik then the newer unreal and cryengines do not have this issue since they are much more optimized. -
SKYRIMLE Project Parallax Remastered (by Osmodius)
Aiyen replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I use HD2 and then this. Followed up by Cabals (except his whiterun as I do not think it blends very well.) to overwrite. It works nicely enough. As for performance then you need ENB enabled.. but you can use an extremely minimal version that has very little performance impact on most machines. Only low end laptops would properly be in the danger zone. -
Well tried out a test run with my current setup. Got from helgen to just outside whiterun before the first CTD. That is not too bad! reload and then all the way until the middle of Bleak falls barrow before I got a CTD there... very odd since I have almost never had a CTD while inside a dungeon. So might be some script or other conflict that is the cause there and not memory. In general it is hard to say if the first CTD is because of memory.. since the numbers are weird with ENB on. I now go roughly 20% higher in used memory (windows the game stuff in background etc.). Guess I could reduce a few AV textures back down to 1k, etc. if it proves a problem. For now it is stable enough... since I have more then 1 hour between CTD´s then its "stable enough" in my book.

Pffttt.. My "official" enb is a piece of junk! The current beta is also meh! I have high hopes for the next one though! If I get around to it! Also have school to focus on!

I am staying at v.200 for now.. only testing the other versions sporadically every now and again. As you have noticed a new version is coming out every other day.
-
I have a hard limit of 2k atm... so no 4k unless that proves stable. Also I am busy making my grass 2k... and after that properly gonna fix other foilage issues. Kinda started to get annoyed by SFO´s textures... they are good for vanilla.. but just about every ENB makes them look wrong.

DROPPED Project Reality - Climates Of Tamriel - Weather - Lighting by JJC71

Also with frostfall installed it becomes a really .... brutal "game"... not even much of a game anymore since you essentially cant walk about without freezing so you start spending more time walking about then actually exploring dungeons etc. -
Skyrim Redone Stack Dumps! HELP!
Aiyen replied to Aminados's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Do not use the combat addition of SkyRe would be my first guess... but have not played with the latest versions of SkyRe. If you only have SkyRe installed and it produces a critical bug/error then it would be best to inform the mod author since then it is not due to a conflict with another mod. -
Kinda cant talk about the versions several weeks ago. There have been many changes and updates to the memory features by now. And it is the area that keeps getting more love from Boris these days. So far for me it also seems fine.... updated most exterior textures back to full 2k but a proper test run is still required... sadly I have so much fun creating tiny mods atm. that it kinda takes precedence.

SKYRIMLE Craft and Purchase Bolts and Crossbows by Elenear
Aiyen replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yeah there is purist... and then there is "It does not make any sense". This would also qualify as a "Lore Fix" Since it just does not make any sense that simple crossbows would not be wide spread in a world like tamriel. -
Might not be... back in the "old" days then disabling ENB before a troublesome load helped out with the issue. Think most of us have just reduced memory by so much in the past that the problem went away and we forgot about it. Now that VRAM is getting loaded up again due to recent changes then it might be back.
-
It will just be recreated upon the next load. When I say remove I mean disable it from the enbseries.ini before you enter the game. Also no point in removing the entire section since it just include a quality maker and intensity value for the effect.

Currently it is being investigated if the mod is cause of certain freezes/ILS due to interaction with the new ENB features. At least that is what I have suggested to Neo, since other people on the ENB forum are reporting some issues that might be due to using windowed mode. Only time will tell if it will be back. I personally do not use it since I have accepted that I just cant tab out of Skyrim a long time ago. And I do not want to deal with the extra issues that windowed mode might bring.

The shamelessness! Oh well your lucky its a great mod ! :P -
I know the feeling... however I only have it if I slaughter chickens .. apparently. >_> No hot wings for me!

Remove skylighting from the ENB and you will get a nice boost in FPS without much visual loss (Most extreme case is a bit darker shadows).... also get Grass on steroids and get 5-10 more FPS all depending.

Skyrim always looks for textures in ...\data\textures\... If you are using MO then depending on how far down on your mod list a mod is, then it will overwrite anything above it with the same name. What skyrim see is only what is at the very end of the list! So if you have made an optimized folder and loaded it into MO and place it lower then the unoptimized folder then it will use the former.

Tech moved it... since I am still a novice in the ways of magically moving posts about using only my mind! :)

Enhanced Blood Textures - Skyrim Imm Creatures Patch
Aiyen replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Any lack of masters will stop the game from starting up. It is part of the games "consistency" checks during startup. Think of it is as a good service! A bashed patch is a patch that can do several things at once saving you many .esp files in your list. The most common use is to use it to merge all so called leveled lists. These lists are essentially what items can drop from who at what level. However it can also include small tweaks to the game etc. The patch between two mods works in the way that the patch will be loaded after both mods, and makes sure that certain data is what you want it too be! If it is a compatiblity patch, then it works in that it takes some entries from one mod and merge them with the information stored in another mod making sure that a potential issue does not happen ingame. Hope that answers all. -
Well other then endorsing his work, and trying to convince as many people as possible to use MO I am most likely doing what I can in terms of contributions! But a good read!

The reason for the smaller file sizes is because some textures had a smaller compression (Hence they take up more space), and after ddsopt has run they are now at a higher compression. If you want to be absolutely sure it did something then you can normally just look at the time it takes... if you ask it to optimize HD2 textures then it should take at least a few minutes to go through every texture. If it only takes a few seconds then you most likely have an ignore setting wrong. Also there is a log created for every process that says what it has done if anything. As for when it fails. Well sometimes then the alpha layer can get messed up which causes the entire texture to fail, and other times then the mip maps fails which causes some texture popping etc. Regardless of which program you use then there is always a risk of this happening. Most of the time it will not, since the textures are often good quality. Some textures do not like to have their compression altered, and some will just look entirely wrong (not purple). This is in part due to the phenomenon called "compression artifacts" which is more noticeable on certain types of textures if they happen.
