  1. Yes, install FNIS as a mod in Mod Organizer. As mentioned in the STEP guide, each time your run FNIS, you will have to move it from Overwrite into an FNIS Output "mod."
  2. https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_INIs there it is.Thanks. Fixed.
  3. Where do you see that? I just checked and it was correct.
  4. The first one is correct.
  5. Try restarting your computer and manually deleting the folder. If that doesn't work, Safe Mode should ;)
  6. If we optimize the textures ourselves using the DDSopt instruction, do we still need this mod?
  7. STEP Patches include changes that the manual patches do not. All patch files can be downloaded from their respective mod pages. RTFM Diverse Priests.
  8. Try disabling Simple Installer and you will see very quickly what it does ;)
  9. No, keep them deactivated.
  10. Simple installer is used whenever manual installer is not necessary to move data content to top level.

  13. Well, I finally took the plunge and optimized my vanilla textures the way the DDSopt guide says instead of Neo's version. It definitely was a lot more work, but I think it was well worth it, as it's going to save me a few gigs off Neo's method and seemed more professional. I'm compressing my Vanilla Optimized with 7-zip right now so I won't have to do that again (it says it's gonna take 9 hours? I hope not!).
  14. You are NOT an idiot. Indeed you thought it through farther than most people do, and I commend you for thinking outside of the box, literally. If you had to check every BSA for it to load, you would be absolutely correct. I think most people are confused about BSAs, and that is why we have this discussion. BSAs are mentioned in the Mod Organizer guide here: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#Archives
  15. If your version of Skyrim is 64bit, I think lots of people would want it! We need more information, but it appears you have a plugin active that is missing a master. The 64bit thing is unrelated.
  16. You are wrong. All you have to do to is NOT check the Unofficial Patch BSAs AND official DLCs in Mod Organizer's Archives tab and you have the exact same effect. It is a misconception that you need to check every BSA in the Archives tab in order for them to load. I swear, nobody reads the little note at the bottom of the Archives tab!
  17. LOL. I just realized that the only file we're using from this mod is the practicedummy01.dds. It IS a good texture.
  18. Wiki information was outdated. Thanks for the catch! Shouldn't need any recommendations, as the other version are in the Old Versions. /fixed
  19. Load your load order up in TES5Edit and see if it crashes.
  20. First:https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=4881 Second: Did you forget to include the enblocal.ini? Perhaps DirectX runtime needs to be run.
  21. We already instruct users to run BOSS and not use the sort button: https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.8#3.A.1._Sort_Plugins_Using_BOSS If you only have mods from the STEP Guide, and you have them all installed exactly as on the STEP Guide, and you have them all sorted by BOSS, there shall be no warning about problematic load order in Mod Organizer. It doesn't matter whether or not you have BSAs extracted or not.
  22. Is there any reason for us to keep this in extended, since we recommend and use DDSopt, which does the same thing but better?
  23. Okay, with the current STEP order, you should not get that problem at all. Is your priority order in the left pane EXACTLY the same as in the STEP guide? If you're using the beta version of Thieves Guild Requirements, you must also delete the Scripts/ski_playerloadgamealias.pex file for everything to be okay. As for mods not in STEP, I cannot help you. Most of the time that warning can be safely ignored. As for Unofficial Patch ordering, it should be like on the Unofficial Patch mod page. Note that the Mod Organizer sort button doesn't sort the Unofficial Patch version 2 files in the correct order yet, so run BOSS through MO instead. On the Unofficial Patch v2 note... I'm thinking we need to relook at unpacking the Unofficial Patch BSAs. It is possible that unpacking them might be extremely unwise considering that the Unofficial Patch team are loading their BSAs through the esps, and will consider us to be subverting the ordering by making them loose files, when they might intend some of the vanilla files in the DLC BSAs to be overwriting the Unofficial Patch files in BSAs to maintain compatibility (example, Unofficial Skyrim Patch if loaded loose without Unofficial Dragonborn Patch will cause dragon souls to bug out if you have Dragonborn).
  24. Any mod can be unsafe to install. Meshes may cause CTDs. Textures can cause pink eye. Scripts can give you ataxia. ESPs can give you bugs. ESMs can give you vampirism. Sounds may cause headaches. SKSE plugins may corrupt your saves. There is no mod that is 100% safe, just some that are safer than others.
  25. 1. It is much simpler now if you go ahead and install all the mods you want, installing them in the order in the guide, both core and non-core. 2. You probably are safe to install the STEP Core patch in that case. 3. There generally isn't much difference. I've heard arguments going both ways on which is faster. If you want to conserve a little bit of space, keep the BSAs and check them in the Archives tab, and it won't be a problem in Mod Organizer (it is a different case in Wrye Bash). 3). You probably can go with the HQ options.
