I think it's documented in the guide somewhere that iPresentInterval=1 must be set in skyrim.ini and EnableVSync=true must be set in enblocal.ini. In a nutshell, EnableVSync=true tells ENB/ENBoost to use the iPresentIntervalSetting and EnableVSync=false ignores iPresentInterval so VSync is disabled.

Thanks, Greg!  That only makes me feel slightly better, as now I have lost total control over all vsync settings.  Even disabling iPresentInterval in the .ini is not unlocking vsync.

(No, no.  You heard correctly.  The problem has now reversed.)  I have disabled iPresentInterval in spINI, the My Games\Skyrim folder, and the installation directory...and it refuses to go OFF, now.  Since my installation is obviously haunted by some nefarious force, I've decided the time has come to just nuke it and start over.

Gods...I hope uninstalling doesn't make it stronger...

Just confirming that my setup was somehow possessed.  Upon reinstallation, I got everything working as it should.  ENB, GPU CP, NVInspector, and iPresentInterval each handle their own Vsync, just like they should.  Toggling on-and-off works fine.

Something for knowledge on S.T.E.P. overall:

A tweak that worked wonders for my GTX 980 ti was to set the following in "enblocal.ini"

[MEMORY]

ReservedMemorySizeMb=64

Down from the default value of 256.  Seems like modern GPUs want to process smaller chunks in rapid succession, rather than one large chunk very quickly.  Makes sense, really, to cope with multi-threading.  Also explains why these cards run so dang hot.  I'll continue fiddling with it to see how low I can get before hitting issues.

I know that tweak has nothing to do spINI, just passing on what I've found.  (I'm assuming most people will come here looking to make the game run "more better"...so every little bit helps, ya?)

And 64 is as low as it goes.

Also found the S.T.E.P. guide for enblocal.ini settings -- how big is this guide!?  It's been a few years (and perhaps a few more) since I downloaded the old PDF from the Nexus, but this is just massive!  Hats off, ladies and gents.  Really appreciate this!

ReservedMemorySizeMb will be custom from system to system. That's why we say to set it as low as possible without issues. [emoji106]

Any chance of getting it below 64?  I think if I can make it to 2, my stuttering will vanish.

Stuttering is my big issue as well. I play on a mid-range laptop (AMD Radeon R9 M265X) and, even though my FPS rarely drops below 40, the constant stuttering just kills what would otherwise be a smooth experience.

My setting is ReservedMemorySizeMb=256. Should I lower it as well?

P.S.: I have no graphical modification enabled, I just use ENB for performance improvement.

EDIT: Does it make a difference if I use Crash Fixes by meh321?

Okay, I finally have decided to get this done.

BethINI initial release 1.0

-Officially supports Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4

-Automatically checks for updates

-Increased smartness

-Bugs shot in the knee with lots of arrows

-Recommended tweaks for all users checkmark

-ENB autodetection

-Mod autodetection

-etc.

-Can't remember everything, and didn't keep a changelog. Examine the source code if you really want to see the changes

-32-bit

-Asks user to close Mod Organizer if it is running.

-Initializes Draugr Apocalypse if the user is an idiot.

I'll see you in a month. Maybe. Have fun!

After a question that I placed in another topic, Neboulous112 adviced me to give BhetIni a try! never thought it could give me such good results with such little effort.

To keep things short, im currently playing with a recent i5k, oc'd to 4.4, r9 290 3Gb, 8Gb ram and step extended with a few other mods installed in a HDD. ( no Enb -just speedhack and without Dyndolod - have to repeat instalation steps - geeting a ILS when loading )

Step guide is getting better and easier to follow and I applied all the Ini seettings and tweaks on the guide.

Was really happy with the results, set it up on ultra, but, in certain situations I would get bellow 20 fps ( some open spaces and in whiterun on top of the castle looking at the citie. This is still a recent save)

After the BhetIni "treatment", I get solid 55/60 fps on high settings and between 27/32 fps on ultra in the same places, so this is for sure a big, big improvement! Another thing I noticed is that the shadows look softer and cleaner and th overall look of the game is sharper.

So, in conclusion, DoubleYou, this is an amazing tool, thank you for your efforts on this!

And if the " see you in a month" means you are on vacations... Hope the sun is hot and the weather good! Hehehe

Hey DY,

How does BethINI determine if SFO is installed?

I have my MO downloads folder on a separate drive to save space, and I noticed BethINI was still showing grass types at 3 instead of 7. Could the downloads folder being on a different drive be the cause?
