Were you using Windows 7 or 8/8.1 before you upgraded?

Just for future reference, it's always a good idea to check the manufacturer's specifications to determine power requirements.

Common CTDs, Freezes, ILS and memory issues
Greg replied to hishutup's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If I'm not mistaken, DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB should be in increments of 256 (256, 512, 768, or 1024) so suggest changing this to either 768 or 1024 based on the output of Mem Blocks Log. You also want to keep DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB as small as possible, so set it to 1024 only Mem Blocks Log shows it is actually using more than 768. -
Mod Organizer suggesting different loard order than LOOT?
Greg replied to DOHstep2013's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If you are using STEP Core or STEP Extended and have installed everything in the proper order according to the guide, ignore this message because it's wrong. Mod Organizer is attempting to detect potential issues with the install order in the left pane but it's not nearly as good as the humans that put together the guide and checked all the conflicts. Also keep in mind that LOOT sorts the plugins in the right pane (the load order) and has nothing to do with the mods in the left pane (the install order). -
Going from STEP: Core to STEP: Extended and a few other things.
Greg replied to Krogotron's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It might be a bit easier to sort the mods into the proper install order as you install them. In other words, when you install Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade you know it goes after Weapons and Armor Fixes so you could move it into correct order right after you install it. This way you don't have to go through the guide twice. -

I probably should have tried this first, but I just dropped the original DynDOLOD.esp back in place and the Shrine of Azura still remains visible so it more likely a cell reset fixed the problem. This is rather strange because I started a new game (after deleting all the old saves) after setting up STEP Extended and Shrine of Azura vanished as I was walking up the ravine. I'm guess when I walked to the Silverhand cabin, saved, and exited Skyrim reset the cell and this solved the problem. I have no idea why it disappeared initially, though.
-
I wonder if perhaps this means it's fixed in the later versions of DynDOLOD. If you get a chance, can you check that record in DynDOLOD.esp to see if it has the IsFullLOD flag set?
-
I generally place lighting mods toward the bottom of the install order so the lighting changes override any "vanilla" lighting from mods higher in the install order, and REGS adds a lot of new towns/villages and modifications to existing towns and villages. In the big scheme of things, it doesn't really make much difference provided none of the mods below the lighting/ENB mods override the changes in the lighting mods.

This reminds me of RESTful web services. There are no contracts or data types and if I change something that breaks your code, it's your fault for not doing it "right".

I don't know if this the real problem, but I noticed that Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp changes the Shrine of Azura by adding Persistent and IsFullLOD flags to the record flags and DynDOLOD.esp set the Persistent flag but not the IsFullLOD flag. Worldspace 000003C Tamriel 0000074 Cell Persistent 00033DCB Placed Object, 0003DCA ShrineOfAzura01 When I set the IsFullLOD flag in DynDOLOD.esp, the Shrine of Azura remains visible as I walk up the steps. Before it was disappearing just as I rounded the bend up the mountain.

Is it really not sorting or is the load order correct so it doesn't seem to change? One of the recent changes with LOOT is the stabilization of the sort order so you can run it twice and you shouldn't notice a difference on the second run.
-
When you first run LOOT 0.8 from Mod Organizer, you should see a little box at the top saying it's parsing, merging, etc. to get ready. If you then click the sort button, you should see a message saying it's loading plugin contents and finally Apply and Cancel buttons should appear at the top of the LOOT window. Click Apply and you're done. LOOT does not show a separate report window because all the information is live right within the main window. But yeah, stick with running LOOT as an executable and keep it up-to-date.
-
Generally you want to load the packs after STEP Core and STEP Extended, although I think I might install Weather and Lighting after REGS.
-
Are you running Loot as an external application or are you clicking the Sort button in Mod Organizer?
-
I used this mod as part of REGS for a few months and I think it works really well.
-
That step of the instructions confused me as well. I think the intent is move all these into into STEP LOD Textures folder in your mods folder. Instead of doing it this way, I highlighting all three folders (meshes, sksse, textures) in the TES5LODGenOutput folder, right click, and Send To/Archive (zipped) file and named it TES5LODGen.zip. I then went into Mod Organizer, clicked Add Mod, and selected TES5LODGen. This just installs it as a new mod named TES5LODGen.

TES5Edit via Mod Organizer - duplicate(?) update.esm in Overwrite
Greg replied to Naoko's question in Mod Organizer Support
You can find step-by-step instructions to clean Dawnguard on the Dawnguard page. For some reason, it doesn't catch everything on the first cleaning pass so you clean the "cleaned" version of Dawnguard to remove a few stragglers that were left in the first pass. -
Low FPS on Map & Outside / LOOT Loading
Greg replied to Raikuden's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You shouldn't have any problems uninstalling Skyrim Flora Overhaul. You're right that you should redo the Wrye Bash patch and the DynDOLOD patch after you remove it. -
Unofficial Skyrim Patch: Unable to move up in Load Order
Greg replied to bistro1138's question in Mod Organizer Support
I'm not sure I understand this completely. I assume you're referring to the left vs right panes in Mod Organizer. The install order is in the left pane and you should be able to sort it manually into any order you want. The load order is in the right pane and sorted by Loot. If you mean the Unofficial Skyrim Patch won't sort into the proper order in the right pane, make sure you're using the latest version of Loot and triple check that you're running Mod Organizer 1.3.8. It may be a bit confusing because if you go the Mod Organizer page, Mod Organizer v_1_3_8 is the third file in the list... the one at the very top is 1.2.18 and won't work. -
ExpandSystemMemoryX64 should be false and VideoMemorySizeMb seems a bit small for a GTX 980 with 4GB VRAM. This should be set as follows according to the ENBoost page: VideoMemorySizeMb=<integer in MB, multiples of 1024> ;all 32-bit users and 64-bit users with less than 8GB system RAM, set to formula: [Dedicated Video Memory] + [System RAM] − 204 ;64-bit users with ≥ 8GB system RAM, set to formula: [Total Available Graphics Memory] − [170 (for Win7) or 350 (for Win8+)] Notice: To find Dedicated Video Memory and Total Available Graphics Memory in Windows 7 and 8: Right-click the Desktop and click [Adjust screen resolution]. In the middle and right-hand side of the window, click the [Advanced settings] link. In the new window that opens, make sure the [Adapter] tab is the current tab. Under Adapter Information, Dedicated Video Memory and Total Available Graphics Memory are listed.

SKYRIMLE Issues with guide instructions
Greg replied to Luinithil's question in Creation Kit Support
Don't hold your breath... As much as I love Bethesda's TES series, everything they've ever created is as buggy as a swamp and they're perfectly happy selling software with blatant bugs they never plan to fix.
