MO won't recognize/launch executables...
Greg replied to toolio20's question in Mod Organizer Support
This is a known issue in Mod Organizer 1.3.10. A possible workaround is to click on an existing executable in the list, modify all the textboxes for the new executable you want to add, and then click Add. This should add the new executable to the list according to the workaround noted in the Bug Genie. -
Missing texture(purple) skyforge shield Amidian born book of silence help
Greg replied to Scythiss's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't remember offhand which shield Ria carries and when I visited the Companions she didn't have a shield on her. In any case, it's probably the hide shield in aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Armors or the iron shield in aMidianBorn - Content Addon. Most of the armor textures come from either these two mods, the STEP Vanilla Optimized Textures, or the HRDLC. -
Arrows hitting invisible wall when killmove/kill cam is activated.
Greg replied to EisDrache's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yeah, the collision detector is awful for archers and I think in general archery is full of bugs. I've had shots blocked by walls and rocks that are below waist level that should have never interfered. I've had shots bounce off leather armor without doing any damage. I've had arrows fall at my feet after a full draw. I don't really get into the close-range melee or the magic, so I'll stick with the bow. -
How do I backup my mod-list for a MO reinstall ?
Greg replied to Amywalker730's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If you downloaded the mods with Mod Organizer, they should all be in the Mod Organizer\downloads folder so you can copy that one folder somewhere safe and reinstall them in the new instance of Mod Organizer. If you downloaded the mods with the browser instead of Mod Organizer, you may have to chase them down depending on where you saved them. By default browsers typically save files in your user profile Downloads folder (e.g. C:\Users\\Downloads). If you've deleted the downloaded versions of the mods, you may have to download them again. A possibly secondary alternative that should be used as an extreme last resort... The installed version of every mod is in its own folder in the Mod Organizer\mods directory. In other words, you should see folders like "aMidianBorn - Content Addon", "aMidianBorn Blade of Woe". Each folder is one mod. In theory, you can right click each folder (one folder at a time), Send To, Compressed Folder. This creates a file named "aMidianBorn - Content Addon.zip" that is a mod that you can install with Mod Organizer. Just click Install Mod, point to the ZIP file you created, and OK. Please keep in mind that this is the currently installed version of that mod, so it will not have any options that you did not install. In other words, if Mod A has optional patches for Falskaar and Wyrmstooth, these optional patches will not be in this folder if you didn't check them when installing the mod. Also keep in mind that this folder will have any optional patches that you installed, so you need to make sure you still have masters for these. For some friendly advice, and I hope I'm not coming across like a donkey here because this not my intention. When you download mods from Nexus, you will most likely want to reinstall these mods again in the future without having to download them from scratch (especially the monsters like Static Mesh Improvement Mod). Downloading mods with Mod Organizer is super easy, but I highly recommend taking a minute outside Mod Organizer to organize these mods into a structure that makes sense so you can easily find and reinstall them in the future. Most of these have fairly sensible names like "Unlimited Bookshelves 1-7-10891-1-7.zip", but I don't have a clue where "Hearthire Edition Cleaned-11555.zip" came from. For this reason, I always create folder with the same name as the mod (say Skyrim Performance Plus) and move the main file and all the optional files for this mod into this folder. Yeah, it's somewhat of a pain in the butt up front but it's saved me an enormous amount of time on each new setup. -
I'm still using 1.3.8 and haven't seen that problem, but I have 275 mods installed so I'm nowhere close to the 450 mark. The only reason I asked is because I wondered if this might have something to do with the 1.3.10 update, but apparently this is unrelated. I somehow doubt having 450 mods has anything to do with this, either. It's more like that something in memory or on disk was corrupted that caused Mod Organizer to crash, and when it crashed it couldn't save everything correctly. For what it's worth, I always keep a good backup of the Mod Organizer folder (and all its subfolders) on another hard drive so I can easily recover if anything odd happens. I also use Beyond Compare 4 so I can keep these synchronized easily. If you have a spare disk and the space available, you might consider doing the same. I'd rather spend 15 minutes restoring from a backup than hours setting up everything from scratch.

I may be the odd one out on this, but I prefer Oblivion's approach to increasing stamina by actively running, jumping, and swimming (although I think Oblivion forgot to include running) as a more realistic approach. On the surface, reading books perhaps should increase speechcraft but I agree that it's not appropriate given Skyrim's definition is limited to bartering and persuading.

can CTD's be caused from not enough vram?
Greg replied to Scythiss's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You might consider running an extended test with Memory Blocks Log to reproduce the crash to see if the block 1 allocation is the cause. The reason I say this is because I was running with 768/256 and the first block was usually hovering right around 500MB and on occasion it would spike over 512MB and cause a crash. -

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

I think you need this mod to go with it to complete the setup. -
SKYRIMLE Jaggarsfeld Extended (by TechAngel85)
Greg replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim LE Mod Author Topics
I think this is perfectly fine. If I need to craft something, I always have the raw materials with me (say in my backpack). I know there are some mods that magically let the player craft items with raw materials in a container, but I've never used them because it feels somewhat like cheating. Isn't there already a mod that provides a merchant via a spell? I seem to recall something about "summon a dremora merchant" spell or some such. EDIT: Found some on Nexus like Summon Shadow Merchant, Instant Merchant, and the one I'm remembering is the Dremora Merchant that can be summoned after completing the Black Book: Untold Legends quest. -
I don't recommend Firefox Beta unless you're willing to put up with some creepy crawlers running around the code.

SKYRIMLE Jaggarsfeld Extended (by TechAngel85)
Greg replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim LE Mod Author Topics
If you want a container specifically for jewelry, I think one of the small strong boxes would probably work best and take up the least amount of valuable space. You could also store jewelry items in the armor container (assuming you have an armor container) since the inventory lumps jewelry and armor into the same tab. Note that I'm using the term container rather loosely here with the notion that it could be a stand-up wardrobe, a chest, a safe, or a wooden barrel. The "Miscellaneous Items" container seems to be more a container for clutter/junk/trash and I doubt it's really necessary. The miscellaneous items I might store are things like ores and ingots and I prefer these to be close the smelter and soul gems close the enchanter so I don't have to run around a lot when I'm playing Skyrim Errand Boy. -
This looks like an HTML decoding bug in the email service or the email client. Specifically, § is the HTML encoded version of the section sign (§) and the translation should occur only when the encoding begins with an ampersand and ends with a semicolon. In this case, the software is erroneously replacing § with section sign even though § is not a valid HTML encoding and should not be translated.

The Firefox nightly builds aren't even guaranteed to work, so take this into consideration. These are primarily intended for testing so cross this one off.

Firefox Nightly is nothing more than nightly builds so you might scratch this one off your list. Firefox Beta is nothing more than a beta taken from the nightly builds so you might scratch this one off your list. Firefox Developer Edition is essentially Firefox with a lot of developer tool plugins so you can scratch this one off your list. Firefox ESR is an extended support release of Firefox and is theoretically a more stable release of Firefox with fewer updates. This one should be updated much less frequently than regular Firefox. IceCat is Firefox without the commercial plugins and a GNU license. It may be worth a look if you're into this sort of thing. SeaMonkey is Firefox, email and newsgroup client, RSS/Atom feed reader, HTML editor, IRC chat, and web development tools. This might be a bit much if all you need is a browser. Waterfox is fast... because it's built with the Intel C++ compiler instead of the Microsoft C++ compiler or gcc? This should whittle your list down a bit.

The steps for the two alternative approaches are basically as follows. To create a mod by compressing the files into a 7z or zip archive: Create a folder named textures somewhere other than the Skyrim folder or Mod Organizer's mods folder and drop the textures into the appropriate file structure in this textures folder (e.g. textures/whiterun/mydummyimage.dds)In Explorer, right click the textures folder and 7zip/Add to archive or Send To/Compress folderRename the 7z or zip file to something "Awesome Texture Pack.tz" or "Awesome Texture Pack.zip". The name doesn't really matter provided it's something that is readily recongizable as the custom texture pack.In Mod Organizer, click Install Mod, select the 7z or zip file you created in the previous step and click OK.Mod Organizer creates a new mod with the same name of the 7z or zip file; e.g. "Awesome Texture Pack"To create a mod directly in Mod Organizer without using a 7z or zip file: In Mod Organizer's mods folder, create a folder named something like "Awesome Texture Pack"In this "Awesom Texture Pack" folder, create a folder named textures and drop the textures into the appropriate fiile structure (e.g. Awesome Texture Pack/textures/whiterun/mydummyimage.dds)After you've placed all the textures into the appropriate file structure, go back into Mod Organizer and click Refresh, and you should see "Awesome Texture Pack" as the last mod in the left pane.Note that both mechanisms yield exactly the same results and you can now check or uncheck "Awesome Texture Pack" to activate or deactivate it. I usually create a 7z or zip archive and then store the archive file in a safe place in case I need to install it again in the future.

Have you tried Cyberfox yet? I installed it yesterday with uBlock Origin and so far it seems to be working fairly smoothly. I left Firefox and Cyberfox running last night with the same plugins and the same tabs open. When I got up this morning, Firefox was toast and Cyberfox was still working fine. This was a really bizarre problem I hadn't seen before, though. I could click on any tabs, but Firefox wouldn't activate them. When i closed all the tabs, Firefox was left with this weird screen with no tabs at all and wouldn't close.

FNIS should be above Bathing in Skyrim and any other mods that add or alter animations.

Realistic Water Two - stream Fix [nanoman2000]
Greg replied to FuzzRocket9's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
You can find the discussion in Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback. I just posted the relevant information here so this mod can be removed from testing since it is no longer available. -
I tested this with Mod Organizer 1.3.8 and it works fine, so I suggest removing the non-working SKSE entry. I also noticed that an executable being grayed out doesn't mean that it is inactive or that it can't be edited. I searched a bit, but I don't see anything indicating why it shows certain entries grayed out like this. When I opened the Modify Executables dialog, it showed Creation Kit and Loot grayed out even though both were working fine and could be edited. I just entered a space and backspaced over it in the Start in textbox, clicked Modify, and now they're no longer gray.
