Magic sounds fire and lightning not working
GrantSP replied to Kate_the_Bionic_Uterus's question in General Skyrim LE Support
As much as I admire Wrye Bash as a tool, in my opinion introducing it into the mix may just add another level of confusion. If you feel comfortable installing this mod manually then that would be my preferred option. If you do install it manually and it then works you will have provided a valuable level of debug material for @keithinhanoi (who is no longer in Hanoi) to use in fixing this issue, even though it affects so few users. As to your question about its removal and the effect on patches and your saves. Sadly I don't know. I currently don't have a working STEP installation and I'm not in a position to quickly generate one. Someone else though will surely have the answer at hand. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I have that version installed and I haven't seen any of the issues that some users apparently have. It would be wise to remember though that @Roy has currently withdrawn it from the public, apart from on TTW, because of negative comments and may or may not be looking at fixing those and updating it accordingly. NB. Despite the versioning change to the numbering when you download that file it will still be called darnui_ttw_3_0alpha9.7z not darnui_ttw_5_0alpha9.7z -
You cannot believe how glad I am that MO is now on GitHub. I just loathed to setup a subversion and use Sourceforge and, I guess I can say this now, that Bug Genie was a clunky beast with a lot of quirks.

Crashing When Finishing Unpacking Ruffled Feather Mod
GrantSP replied to KageYuuki's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
So what did you do differently today that you didn't do yesterday? Software just doesn't decide to not work one day then work the next! -
[ Q & A ] Using FNIS with Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in Mod Organizer Support
The message displayed here is saying FNIS can't find your Skyrim installation. This happens if you have a pirated copy, in which case no further help will be forthcoming, or you haven't yet run the game and set the needed entries in the registry. Ensure Skyrim has been run at least once before proceeding any further. -
Crashing When Finishing Unpacking Ruffled Feather Mod
GrantSP replied to KageYuuki's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
As noted here, common causes of error are from overly zealous AV packages hindering the copy process MO does after mod installation. Check to ensure your AV isn't causing this. -
Magic sounds fire and lightning not working
GrantSP replied to Kate_the_Bionic_Uterus's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Not saying this is the issue, but a while back we had this mod causing problems for one user that couldn't get the audio to play no matter what we did to try and fix it. You might want to read through that topic to see if anything there seems familiar. -
Followed Guide game wont launch Help!
GrantSP replied to adzc1987's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
This sounds like an outside program, most likely your anti-virus package or similar, is removing access to files used by MO. IF the game started and played without issue yesterday AND you haven't changed anything about the setup there is NO reason for MO to not start. Software just doesn't decide to not work! Despite how we feel about it at times. Can you either disable your AV package or set exemptions for MO to check that it isn't interfering? There might also be a quarantine folder used by it that will contain files/folders that it has removed. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
GrantSP replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
That will have something to do with my merging in another thread I reckon. Sorry 'bout that. -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
GrantSP replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Slightly off-topic but the way you have edited that clip is brilliant. Nice slow tracking shots during the verses and then quick, short scene switching during the chorus that matches perfectly with the beat. Nothing like a bit of cross-sensorial reinforcement to drive home the message. -
Reset left-pane priorities ACCORDING TO CATEGORIES?
GrantSP replied to mikegray's question in Mod Organizer Support
The 'grouped mods' take the priority of the first mod with the highest priority. You could add in "dummy" mods that serve only as 'group headers' and assign them with priorities that match your list. ie. you create a mod called "--Extenders--" and assign it a priority of 1 then create another mod called "--Fixes--" and give a priority of 2 then another called "--Interface--" and set it to 3. Assign these dummy mods the same categories as those of the mods that you want to group and when you choose the sorting method: "Categories: for the left-hand pane, these header mods will be used to sort them in the order you gave them. That's how I answered in your Nexus post. -
I have to pass on this bit of information, although most of you will never use the supplier I did. Due to this minor misunderstanding on my part I emailed a number of places to check, including MSY Tasmania my supplier, and just now they've emailed me back with a 'return to sender' label advising me they are going to upgrade my PSU free of charge to a 650W unit because they said they should have noted the correct requirements for my GPU when I ordered it. Now I don't know about you but that's service. They have actually sent the new one before I will get a chance to return this one. So if you are ever wanting to build a PC in Aust. use MSY! Maybe if @Nozzer66 or @Teabag sees this they can benefit from it. Anyway I managed to build it and install the OS and do some minor tests and I am impressed. Cold start is under 15 seconds to desktop with the SSD. I'm looking forward to installing some games and benchmarking. Witcher III here I come.

One last question: HDMI is the preferred option for connecting the monitor?
-
If I take your word for it and something goes "BOOM", can I come calling? No, seriously thanks for the update. I haven't really looked into the whole hardware specs and definitions for years, last time I built a computer there was only VGA, HDMI or DVI didn't exist. GPUs didn't need dedicated power or come with cooling fans. Drives still had ATA ribbon cables and you needed a CD-ROM to install the OS.
-
Guys I need a n00bish question answered. Is a PCI-E power cable that splits into 2x connectors the same as 2 seperate PCI-E cables? To power the new GPU requires an 8 pin + a 6 pin connector and the PSU has a PCI-E cable with a splitter that branches into 2 x 6+2 pin connectors. I can power everything and get to the system and nothing 'looks' wonky but until the GPU is under load I will have no way of knowing for sure. PCPartPicker and the Antec website and my supplier all say I'm supplied with all I need but... 'sinking feeling in my gut'.

Can you describe exactly what you were doing that caused this to show? I've installed mods with the display on all of the options and never once seen this message when it was on "Categories".

Merge Plugins Standalone not loading plugins
GrantSP replied to edynacio's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
I merged into the main Merge Plugin Standalone topic. It is all still there along with @Mator's comment about it. -
Merge Plugins Standalone not loading plugins
GrantSP replied to edynacio's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Not sure it was because the profile was too long or the fact you have extended ASCII characters in it. Also if you post in one thread it is usually all that is required, no need to double-post to get answered. Though it is quite possible you decided to post in the other topic as a hindsight, once you realised the content was more fitting. -
Common CTDs, Freezes, ILS and memory issues
GrantSP replied to hishutup's question in General Skyrim LE Support
As this topic outlines, another very common problem that will result in an ILS is the incorrect file encoding of the actual INI. Make sure the INI is saved in the proper format, either ASCII or UTF-8. -
[WIP] Merge Plugins Standalone {PUBLIC BETA}
GrantSP replied to Mator's question in Mator's Utilities Support (archived, read-only)
@edynacio Those images are very small, it makes it very difficult to see what it is you are trying to describe. @mator Merged the thread into the main thread. -
ahh... "senior moment" it is then.
-
Yes, @hishutup has on several occasions reported that he noticed permissions had changed on his system when he 'updated' to Win10, so I'm assuming your system likewise has been touched by MS in a bad way. You should be able to change the permissions easily enough though with Windows via the context menu,"Properties -- Security", on the affected folders.
-
I maybe having a 'senior moment' or failing completely to see the issue, but isn't this a case of Skyrim just not using that much memory in the first block? Is this actually an issue? I can run a minimal modded game and my first block will be lucky to break 200MB. This is the log of my "Basic character" profile: [spoiler=Memory Block log]logging of blocks enabled logging max values only Timer disabled Block1 Block2 512MB 256MB 85 8 85 8 85 9 ... 178 98 179 98 179 99 190 99 195 99

ACCEPTED The Ruffled Feather (By SparrowPrince)
GrantSP replied to Xaviien's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'd agree that the images look too smooth. Is that something to do with scale? ie. a rock's surface at a distance of a metre looks fine but if it is used for mountain sides viewed from 100's of metres it looks out of place? But frankly any attempt to make rocks/mountains look better is good in my books.- 307 replies

I wasn't saying W3 quests were bad, just the opposite. Good quests can be found on notice boards
