  1. What version of Nvidia drivers are you using? Any driver past the July ones will cause instant crash for Fallout 3 and New Vegas upon load. There are posts all over reddit talking about how Nvidia are battling it out with Microsoft to fix the issue. Try rolling back to 368.81 doing a clean install with Display Driver Uninstaller.
  2. Hello Dovahkiin! I would like to welcome you to the STEP forums. I can recommend what I think would be best for someone new to the more advanced aspects of modding, but since I deal mostly with Fallout modding I would also wait to see what some of the other members recommend as well. First, all the guides that STEP encomposses are held over on the Wiki. This includes both the official STEP guide as well as guides created by other members of the community. I understand the feeling of being overwhelmed - modding can go from being very basic to quite advanced very quickly. I would suggest you at least read over the official guide (linked above) and perhaps even follow it through before beginning a guide like Skyrim Revisited; which is a bit more advanced than the STEP guide. One big thing I like to tell people who are new to STEP is that these guides are just that: guides. They are not commandments or things you have to follow to the letter (though of course you can). What I think is important is to take what you have learned while following a guide and make it so you can come up with your own custom mod list as everybody's tastes are different. There are also several guides for other Bethesda games (New Vegas and Fallout 3) as well as some guides for other games like the Witcher 3. So my advice is to start with the official STEP guide and then see what you think after you have done that. And remember: ask questions! That's what this community is for! Any questions you have please feel free to ask. And remember: have fun. Cheers, Audley
  3. Not trying to disregard anyone's posts, but I would just like to say I am glad to be part of a community that can have these types of open discussions without it turning into a flame war. The majority of forums I have been apart of in the past would usually lock these topics before they would even begin; even the smaller ones. So I want to thank everyone for being so mature, even when you have vastly different opinions. Carry on. :)
  4. I generally don't spend a ton of my time worrying about this type of thing as I am often caught up in my own stuff. What I do know is that I don't like the groups of women (and sometimes men) who stand outside buildings in large cities like New York and Boston and get in people's faces and tell them they are disgusting just because they were born a while male. These people are going to work to feed their family or whatever and have to go through these mobs of angry people being angry for who knows what. There are tons of videos of these things happening on YouTube and the like.
  5. To me it just looks like you don't have Anisotropic Filtering turned on.
  6. I made a post about this a while back, but I don't think many people saw it. Are you using the latest Nvidia drivers (372.54)? If so, they will cause tons of problems including crashing at startup alongside with graphical artifacting in-game. Roll back to the previous drivers (clean install with DDU) and see if that fixes it. Nvidia is working on a fix last I heard.
  7. I have got some big plans for the guide (Ess check your messages sometime later today). Won't talk about it too much, but the reason I wasn't on top of this a week or two ago was because our internet (BIG surprise) was borked up for nearly two weeks. We had to wait a WEEK for CenturyLink to come and fix the issue, which took less than a half hour. Anyways, my goal is to start writing an outline and a mod list for the updates I have planned by this Friday.
  8. I know that the latest Nvidia drivers broke a ton of dx9 games. Fallout 3 and New Vegas along with reports of Oblivion as well. I had to roll back to 368.81 because the newest 372.54 just refuses to work properly. Several people have already sent in reports to Nvidia so hopefully it gets fixed. It's also happening with a few Windows 7 and 8.1 users so I don't think it's necessarily Windows 10 specific. It could however be completely unrelated to the drivers. Though that is the first thing I would check. If you do happen to roll back, make sure you do a CLEAN install with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Installing an older driver over a newer one can also mess things up even more.
  9. In the .ini files for New Vegas change the following: iMultiSample=0 (this is AA) iMaxAnisotropy=0 (this is AF) They should be in your FalloutPrefs.ini file in MO under the Display section.
  10. I honestly wouldn't be surprised. As far as I am concerned the engine they are using is absolutely ancient. It only "kinda" supports (not really) PBR despite what Todd Howard says. I have not messed around with the game to say for sure about the DPI thing.
  11. Lol TechAngel. Yea I miss Windows 7 a great deal... *sniff sniff*
  12. If anyone is having problems with the latest Nvidia drivers (372.54) alongside Windows 10 it is suggested to roll back and do a clean install to the previous drivers. Several people on reddit have been posting that there are some issues with the latest drivers. People seem to be having issues with New Vegas as far as I can see. Have not checked the Skyrim reddit but I would not be surprised if some people are having problems there too. I did update because I did a clean install the other day, but then rolled back when I started having issues. Though if you are anything like me you don't usually update drivers the second they are launched because of the above issue. Don't fix what ain't broke, right? Cheers, Audley
  13. Ugh Nexus is being EXTREMELY slow. Taking up to several minutes to fully load a page. On top of that, images are no longer loading. I saw on the Nexus forums they are aware, though.
  14. When you were installing EssArrBee's additional weapons, did you happen to install the Crossbow mod? That will tank your FPS, specifically in GoodSprings.
  15. As someone who also has a GTX 970, I have done a few things that greatly improve the feeling of the game. I have disabled the games VSync (iPresentInterval=0) in the Fallout.ini and I have also disabled the FPS control in the Stutter Remover .ini file completely (bManageFPS=0). After that, force enable Adaptive VSync for Fallout New Vegas. This will remove the need for Triple Buffering. I also enable MFAA for NV but if you are using an ENB you don't need to do that since you won't be using MSAA anyway. I find that Adaptive VSync works REALLY well for this game.
  16. Just wanting to ask if the Nexus is being extremely slow for anyone else. Taking up to a minute just to start loading the page. Taking around a minute and a half to completely load some pages. It's been like this for me all day. I would post this on the Nexus forums but the forums are somehow even slower than the modding sites. I want to confirm if this is just me or if it's affecting everyone. Thanks.
  17. New Vegas of course! Also, what are the specs? Curious to know.
  18. The GTX 1060 was just released, so it's completely out of stock and will probably be for a while. Best value IMO is the 1070 which has "TitanX level performance", but not sure what the stock is. Same goes for the 1080, but most people say that buying a 1080 for 1080p is a waste of funds since it has much more capability to power higher end games at 1440p at 60 FPS and even quite a few games at 4K 50-60 FPS. My recommendation if you have the funds is to try and find a 1070. Though you will have 60 FPS almost all the time on a heavily modded game, due to the nature of Skyrim and its not-so-great utilization of resources and optimization you may dip down a bit here and there.
  19. Make sure that RWLE is the VERY last mod in your load order (yes, even after your bashed patch).
  20. On a slightly off topic note (I didn't want to start a new thread for this), does the Nvidia Control Panel NOT force Triple Buffering for D3D9 games? I just read on some Steam forums that if you force it through the Control Panel it only affects OpenGL games. Have I been using V-Sync thinking Triple Buffering was on the whole time but it actually wasn't? I am playing New Vegas so I cannot force V-Sync through ENB because it does not include that feature. New Vegas is a D3D9 game so I feel like my whole life is a lie.
  21. If you want some quality quest/location mods I really encourage you to check out any of Jokerine's mods. They are all really well done and she/he puts a TON of time and effort into them. They all are really unique and have a lot of character. Voice acting is very well done and even though Jokerine says she/he doesn't care about immersion, they have to be some of the most immersive mods out there due to their quality. Highly recommended.
  22. ESS!!!! You're back from the dead! :D
  23. Are you talking about mod order (left pane) or load order (right pane)? NVSE plugins do not have a .esp so it won't show up in your load order.
  24. Nvidia announced last night that the new GTX 1080 will be arriving at the end of May. You can see all the new details on the website. I have not been this excited for a hardware release in... ever. What is everyones thoughts?
  25. Hello everyone! Here's something interesting. I know this game like the back of my hand and yesterday when I was in the properties windows of the game through steam there were five tabs to choose from: General, Updates, Local Files, Language, and DLC. Today, when I went into the properties to change the Steam Community to enabled I noticed a sixth tab labeled BETAS. I did a quick Google search but came up empty. I of course have no code to check if there is an actual Private Beta happening, but it peaked my interest. As for the past 3+ years there has been no BETAS tab. I looked at all the other games published by Bethesda that I own (Skyrim, FO3, Oblivion) and no other game aside from FO4 had a BETAS tab. But that makes sense since FO4 is still being actively supported by the devs. But New Vegas is not (that I know of) so I was surprised. Maybe I am looking WAY too much into this. Still, it would be awesome if something was happening. What do you guys think? Cheers, Audley Update: I did some digging on the Steam Database and there was a Branch launched about 10 hours ago on the game nicknamed "purplerain". It is private so there is a password.
