Perhaps Skyrim has better support (or maybe it just works better in general) for things like SMAA. But I have spent ages trying to get SMAA to look good in Fallout. It just doesn't. Even 2x MSAA looks better than the strongest SMAA settings. In Fallout, SMAA does a good job with small things nearby, and large things at a distance. But with medium sized objects or anything with a transparency layer (fences, windows, grass etc.) it just doesn't compete with MSAA+Transparency Multisampling. I really wish that hardware AA worked with ENB. At this point it is really down to picking your poison. I personally can live with aliasing but it takes a good ten minutes of me playing a game before I start to ignore it.

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Pretty nice setup. I'm curious as to how you did the NVR3/FCO section though. I only use FCO (plus the optional .esp so YUP doesn't override some faces) as I can never get NVR3 and FCO to play nicely - no matter what I do. I generally do like NVR3, I just wish it has some better compatibility. :\ -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I did not personally encounter any texture issues with Electro-City. With that being said I never actually remember playing with it all the way up until Novac. I have not used the mod in some time and until I discovered SSL I just decided I would rather not have any lights. Do those issues go away when you disable Electro-City? Because to me those issues look like DDSopt artifacting. I believe that is the right one in that link. But always got it from what I believe is the original post. Edit: Was going to link but was not sure if we are allowed to link to modding websites in other languages. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I strongly dislike Electro-City as well and have been using Simple Street Lights (the extra lights version) for a while now with zero issues. I don't think Electro City is a bad mod, but it is too over the top for me and the LOD issues are immersive breaking to say the least. I suppose the only downside to using SSL over Electro-City is that you don't get any reason as to who is maintaining all these lights. But then again there is still running water in the Mojave for the majority of houses so I guess you have to decide where you draw the line. It's super easy to get SSL. I only found the mod because an author of an ENB placed it in their recommended mods section. I suggest giving it a shot if you dislike Electro-City. Edit: Typo Fixes -
Need good advice on upgrading my PC
Audley replied to FuzzRocket9's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I definitly give the 750Ti a plus one from me. I have only ever heard good things about it. Granted it won't give you that Ultra settings 60 FPS at 1080p 100% of the time, but I think at medium-high settings (with a performance ENB) it should hold its own fairly well at 40-60 FPS. On the Nvidia side that is probably going to be your best bet in you price range. It is compatible with your motherboard as far as I can tell. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I have the same issue. My FPS can actually be worse in some places with RWL than with an ENB or NS. This is the reason why I have been sticking to ENB's to change the lighting. I just have had issues with both NS and RWL. Shame that there aren't more weather mods for New Vegas. I would try Fellout or Project Reality but neither have been updated in years and don't cover the DLC. :\ -
Any mods that fill up the west side of the map?
Audley replied to predator42393n's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
There are several reasons why I would assume no one has done anything with that area, and I think the biggest one being is that area is not reallt developed in any way. They would need to practically redo the areas if they wanted to add anything. I doubt it is completely navmeshed either. Not to mention invisible walls. On the map it looks detailed, but if you go over there there it is pretty much just really basic terrain with no detail added. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
For whatever reason, setting ReduceSystemMemoryUsage to equal True is causing weird stuttering/hitching problems for certain people. There seems to be no explanation as to why this is; as well as to no correlation between people who are having the issue. I have read people having this issue over on the Nexus as well. I have talked to Boris about it, and he cannot fix the issue as he cannot replicate it. :\ -
When that little windows pops up it means MO is not quite sure what goes in the data folder and what doesn't. Think of it as a mini temporary data folder that MO needs to make sure that when you install a mod, everything goes where it is supposed to. In this case, in that little window you need to right-click on data and click "Set Data Directory." This will tell MO that everything below in the file structure is supposed to go in the Data folder i.e. textures, mehes, sounds, etc. If you need further explanation I would be happy to provide assistance. Cheers, Audley

Is this happening only in the main menu or is it happening all over the game? If it is just the main menu then one file is overriding the Darnified UI menu file. If it is the entire game then that means that UIO is for whatever reason not injecting the Darnified UI fonts when you launch the game via NVSE. While I am not an expert when it comes to Fallout 3, I think this might happen if UIO is not being given the correct permissions to modify a certain file. In this case that would be the Fallout.ini file. While this has never happened to me, I have read it happening to others. You may wish to try going into [Mod Organizer>Profiles>Your Profile] and just double checking that the Fallout.ini file is not set to "read only." That is the only idea I have right now and if I come up with anything else I will let you know.

That would be cool indeed! However, as you said I am not sure if it is possible. Or if it is, it is most likely too much effort or would take too much time to do at this point in the games life cycle for any modder that might know how to do it. But there are things implemented in the game now by modders I thought not possible. Like this mod that was released recently! :D I didn't know something like that was possible. Though I am not an advanced modder so I wouldn't know.

The only worth using mod that will change the enemy AI (IMO) is Vicious Wastes. Aside from DUST, it is probably the most difficult overhaul there is for the game.

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Hey Ess, I really think that NVR3 be removed from the guide. I know that you have a lot of hope in the bashed patch, but I really think that no amount of tags is going to make it work nicely. Don't get me wrong, I love NVR3 and think it is an awesome mod. But the amount of issues it has is outstanding. I tried for several days to get it working properly. But in the end I had to ditch it. It conflicts with mods you wouldn't even think about such as ILO and Spice of Life. And regardless of what the mod author says it is not 100% compatible with body mods. I think you should stick with just using FCO until someone can make some compatibility patches. I am only saying this because I keep seeing people having issues with this mod. I don't mean to intrude on your guide. I just would like to express my concerns that NVR3 is well.... a bit of a mess sadly. :\ -
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
Audley replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
Hey TechAngel, thanks for reply. Unfortunately I am not using those set to True and I have already experimented with them set to true/false. I still get the same issue regardless of what those are set to. :\ I no longer believe that there is something wrong on my end. I have done literally everything except go out and buy a new PC. The farthest I went was doing a complete re-install of my OS which I did last night. But don't worry it wasn't a big deal - I always do a reinstall of my OS once a year anyway. -
First off, I would like to say I am sorry Pandore that you are having so many issues. You seem to have encountered some of the weirdest issues I have ever seen. :\ If the User Interface Organizer is installed correctly, it should automatically iron out any issues. If I do recall from the pictures you had more than one square in more than one location right? My advice would be this: Start a new MO profile and untick every mod except the following: New Vegas Anti-Crash, New Vegas Stutter Remover, and UI Organizer. Also keep anything else required to run the game. But when you make a new profile, make sure you don't copy your current one. I want you using the default .ini files. Then, also remove the d3d9.dll from your games folder so your ENB is not in use. Next, load up the game with only the said things done and start a new game. Play the game until you exit Doc Mitchell's house. If the issue does not happen then we can safely say that it was a mod issue and we can go from there. However, if it does still happen, then I think your GPU may be artifacting? Either that or it is your monitor. :\ But let us hope that it is just a really weird mod conflict. Cheers, Audley

Major stutters while using an enb
Audley replied to ProCandy's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
If you're issue is primarily ENBoost, then you aren't alone. If you set ReduceSystemMemoryUsage to equal False in your enblocal.ini file and your stuttering goes away, then you are in the same boat as a bunch of us here on the STEP forums. I made a topic about it here: Link If on the other hand your issue does not go away after setting the above line to False, then you have an entirely different issue. -
While I really think NVR3 is a good mod, I just plain don't use it due to the vast amount of issues it causes. It conflicts with other mods such as: Type 3 Body, Robert's Male Body, Interior Lighting Overhaul, Spice of Life, and of course mods like FCO. No matter how many proper tags you add, a bashed patch isn't going to fix all of these issues. I hate to say it but this mod will be a bit of a mess until proper compatibility patches are made. :\

Double iris': NVR3 is clashing with FCO. Open up NVR3 in MO and go to the "Conflicts" tab. Hide any file in the upper box that has the words "FCO" in it. Transparent/See Through Objects: Disable the Steam Overlay. It is incompatible with ENB and you don't need it anyway. ENB has its own screenshot feature. "Strange Aura": This is an issue with ENB and the game engine and cannot be completely fixed; even with said ENB Hair Mesh options. What you are seeing is the Mesh's Alpha Channel. Cube: I am not so sure actually. :\

DDSopt - texture optimization problem
Audley replied to nameerf's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
For whatever reason, DDSopt does MOST textures well for me. But I always end up having issues with the following textures: rocks, roads, and the face textures for NPC's. I am also using the UHQ Terrain Overhaul too. What I would do if I were you is to go ahead and re-optimize the textures but first remove all the rocks. -
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
Audley replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
Well I officially give up. I have tried every single thing I could think of at this point. I even took out my ram and played Musical Ram for a while to make sure that one of my RAM sticks or slots wasn't bad. I think this is a problem with ENBoost that only affects some people maybe? -
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
Audley replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
You are definitly right TechAngel. I wasn't aware that others were having the same issue. I went ahead and posted a topic in the forum over at ENBDev.com. So, hopefully Boris can shed some light as to why this is happening. Here is the link: Link Thanks for all the help guys. Cheers, Audley -
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
Audley replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
Well I have yet to find any kind of solution. :\ I tried every thing I could think off but no luck. It is going to take someone more knowledgeable than me to figure out what is causing this issue. In the end I have weight the pros against the cons for using an ENB and I have decided that the pros don't outway the cons for me. So I will be sticking with something like FNVRWL. -
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
Audley replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
Well, I have decided that I would like to figure out what is causing this issue for me. So I started with the basics. I checked both my memory and HDD for errors; none came up. I checked in the BIOS and made sure everything was OK and that nothing was wonky. I did some research and made sure that there wasn't any weird Windows setting that could be causing performance loss with memory. Everything with my hardware seems fine. So I will keep you guys updated. -
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage Causing Performance Issues
Audley replied to Audley's question in Post-Processing Support
I have decided to just not use an ENB until I get some sort of fix for this without using the EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks. Without using ENBoost it is just not worth it to me. The visuals are not enough to make me want to use an ENB. Shame though. :\
