  1. I would say shred them both. I strongly dislike Xpadder. Mainly because the author implies it's freeware and doesn't tell you that you need to pay for it until you already gave him your email address. Use a freeware alternative such as AntiMicro.
  2. All of RoyBatty's mods (Including the 4GB Patch Updated and AWOP) have been hidden due to "Mod Picker Protest". :\
  3. No, you're not missing something obvious. If you want to use ENBoost or ENB then hardware AA (i.e. MSAA) will not work in any way. Let me explain: There are two common forms of Anti-Aliasing. The first is called hardware AA and things like Supersampling and Multi-Sampling (the games native AA) fall under this category. They apply AA before the scene is rendered. This puts a much heavier load on the GPU hence the name hardware AA as the GPU is doing all the heavy lifting. The other common form of AA is software AA. This form of AA is applied after the scene is rendered by the GPU; using complex algorithms it can detect aliased edges and blur them to look smooth. The good thing about software AA is that it puts much less load on the GPU and can, in most current games, look just as good as hardware AA. The bad thing is that in older games (especially ones with finicky engines) software AA is not nearly as effective. So even though you have a good GPU, when using ENBoost or ENB hardware AA is disabled. This is because (correct me if I am wrong, please) when the d3d9.dll is injected into the game, it does so before the scene is rendered so it conflicts with the hardware AA. Not 100% sure why, but that is what I have come to learn through posting on forums and stuff. It's weird because the effects themselves are post-processed so they are rendered after the scene is loaded. I still don't fully understand it myself. Anyway, Boris (creator of ENB and ENBoost) realizes this and he developed some some software AA in the ENB itself. But because software AA loads after the scene is rendered, it can be used alongside ENB. Another good thing about software AA is that you can combine different ones. Like enabling ENB Edge AA alongside SMAA. The bad thing is that because the game is so old, and the engine is so finicky, software AA does not look nearly as good as hardware AA. Also, the reason the grass breaks is because it needs a form of hardware MSAA to look proper. This is known as transparency MSAA. That is a whole other discussion though. So to summarize: if you wish to use ENB or ENBoost then you must deal with the aliasing. Because as far as I know you cannot use just ENBoost alongside hardware AA for Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Personally I hate aliasing and find it extremely ugly not to mention distracting. So I only use ENB rarely, if at all. I hope this explains it! :)
  4. Transparency Multisampling was created because Multisampling has a hard time Anti-Aliasing anything that has an Alpha channel. This would be things like windows, fences, and especially plants and trees. I don't think Transparency Multisampling was put into Skyrim natively (unlike FO3 and New Vegas) because as Hishutup suggested, there are not many transparent objects in the game. I think they use a different technique for doing plants and trees than they did in the previously mentioned Fallout games. I don't think it is Nvidia specific thing (though they may have developed it) because this is almost required to be enabled in Fallout 3 and New Vegas for the game to look good. When you use Supersampling this really isn't an issue however. Because SS Anti-Aliases the ENTIRE scene where Multisampling just Anti-Aliases things that need it (I think) however it will ignore things with transparency. Thus Transparency Multisampling was made.
  5. Really nice stories guys! Give me either tonight or tomorrow I will spend a bit of time to write mine out. Cheers, Audley
  6. Do you have the Fix Transparency setting in the enblocal.ini file set to true? If it is make sure it is FALSE. Even though it says it fixes transparency issues, it will actually cause them. That's the only thing I can think of.
  7. What I said above applies to when I use ENB for screenshots and such. For normal gameplay I actually don't use an ENB as I HATE aliasing. The shimmering and jagged lines in the distance (especially with transparent objects) is SO distracting. I am extremely sensitive to such things. And due to some sort of limitation in the engine, AA doesn't work very well to begin with. SMAA can only do so much. Even MSAA (the game's native AA) has its issues. If you don't mind the aliasing then by all means at least give ENB a shot before you dismiss it. It does add a lot of cool effects and depth to a scene.
  8. Well the answer is yes and no. There are a lot of limitations that the engine has that make ENB have issues with certain effects. Most noticeably with ambient occlusion and detailed shadows. There are also some smaller issues that are also engine related such as water displacement acting weird. Boris has commented that nothing can really be done about this and that he has done everything he could. Personally I find that detailed shadows is broken and causes massive artifacting in the corners of the screen. However, ambient occlusion is fine about 90% of the time as long as the setting itself isn't turned up too much. As for the transparency issues you are having... make sure that AA is off in both the .ini files and is not forced through your control panel. Also double check that the Steam Overlay in-game is not enabled as that will also cause transparency problems. Most of the effects are actually fine just turn off detailed shadows. The thing that really gets me is ENBoost. Which is completely borked as far as I am concerned; trading performance for stability. So personally I turn off ENBoost and detailed shadows and everything is mostly okay.
  9. Hello everyone! Audley here. I just wanted to say that I am back and going full speed ahead on everything I set out to do. Modding, guide, and testing projects are all going from a complete stop to being set at maximum effort. I am working hard now that things in my life have settled down significantly. I will now be much more active on the forums. See everyone around! Cheers, Audley
  10. As far as I am concerned buying keys that are not directly from Microsoft have a good chance that they are either illegally distributed or just don't work. Avoid sites like G2A like the plague. I just checked on their store front page right now and they are selling an EXISTING Minecraft account for 10$. I am 99% sure selling used/existing accounts is against the ToS. I am sure there are legit codes on G2A but who knows where a majority of them come from. Why do you think their store front is one giant ad page? They want you to be tricked into thinking you are buying legit keys for stuff. And G2A is hosted in Hong Kong. Really sketchy if you ask me. Sites like Ebay are also a huge risk. IMO you are much better off just saving yourself the trouble and buying a key directly from Microsoft so you it's legit.
  11. Did you try setting bUseLowResHands to equal 0 in the FalloutPrefs.ini?
  12. Anyone using ENB (whether it be a custom preset, the default preset, or just ENBoost by itself) needs to change the d3d9.dll to d3d9_smaa.dll in order for SMAA to be loaded correctly using the ENB proxy setting. The reason you do this is because the game cannot load more than one "d3d9.dll" file at a time because you cannot have two of the same name. By renaming the SMAA .dll you can set up a proxy in the ENBlocal.ini to load both .dll files so you can get both in-game at the same time. Also, there is no need to apologize for your questions. They are certainly not stupid. Everyone in modding starts at the beginning and only by asking questions and reading guides will you learn.
  13. Why exactly was Nevada Skies replaced with Realistic Wasteland Lighting Enhanced? It has the same amount if not more performance issues as Nevada Skies. Until version 0.97 comes out it is practically unusable. The rain just absolutely tanks FPS by 30 or more. And with RWLE you can't even turn it off. I still stick with the regular version of Realistic Wasteland Lighting for this reason. The rain just isn't worth it to me for my FPS to drop into the twenty's.
  14. Hello fellow STEP members! I come to everyone with a plea for help. I have posted this on numerous tech support forums (Toms Hardware and the like) but I got zero responses after a number of days. The problem is that I am getting incredibly slow download speeds on nearly every website. I have premium Nexus and on every premium (and the free server too) server my speeds are around 20 - 50 Kb/s. Absolutely impossible to download anything. Even when download SKSE or NVSE it takes up to a minute. My internet is not very fast to begin with (5 down and 1 up) but I was used to downloading things at about 500 Kb/s. I am posting this here hoping someone might be able to help me narrow down what is blocking my speeds. About three months ago I started having issues and it's been this way ever since. The thing that is weird though: I can stream Netflix and Youtube at full speed. As well as download from external things like Steam and Origin. But if I download through my browser my speeds drop to almost nothing. My modem says I am getting full speed and even my SpeedTests say I am getting full speed. Here is an example of what is happening. As you can see my downloads are painfully slow. That is with me only using the internet and I am not downloading anything else. Now, if you look at my SpeedTest it shows I am getting completely full speeds. I have tried nearly everything I can think of. Even re-installed my operating system. I had a technician come out to my house and everything is fine. I just cannot for the life of me figure out what is throttling my download speed through my browser. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! Cheers, Audley
  15. The first thing I would do is reduce the things that I can live without that take up the most amount of VRAM. Usually it's: resolution, hardware AA (MSAA or DS), and texture resolution. Also, are you running on one monitor that is 2560x1440 or are you running it on all three monitors at 1440p? Because if you are running it on three 2560x1440 monitors at once then that will of course absolutely eat up your VRAM. Personally I would lower texture resolution before my game resolution. And yes, running at a resolution other than your monitor's native resolution will make the image look less crisp and more blurred. Edit: changed some confusing text.
  16. I thought the aliasing was bad using only SMAA+EdgeAA at 1080p but then I went back and played New Vegas on Xbox 360. The game plays at 720p and has a very low amount of FXAA. It looks awful. The PC version looks great compared to the console ports. So I have just decided that, in comparison, I should be thankful.
  17. This is a hard question to answer. Is New Vegas a PoS in general? Well, yes and no. In terms of story, gameplay, world, etc. and as a game overall I would say no. In terms of bugs and glitches and issues it could be argued that it is more of a PoS than not. The locked door issue sounds like some sort of mod conflict. As for the UI not working... are you running Windows 10? I was having the same issue and I am pretty sure it's caused by the stupid Xbox DVR overlay that comes pre-installed with Windows 10. This happens when New Vegas is installed on the same drive as Windows. I actually just straight up force-uninstalled the Xbox app using Powershell I was having so many issues. Shaking my head... why did they include all the Xbox crap?
  18. What are your computer specs? There is definitely a mesh issue going on here; could be something with the animations. However, I wouldn't say that the mesh is "high-poly" as it's really not. The mesh is an altered version of the original with added special effects but it wasn't changed much other than that. Tapioks Enhanced Shaders is a great ENB but sadly it's not compatible with Night Vision completely.
  19. I've talked to Weijiesen a few times and the quickest way to get a reply is through PM. He doesn't check his mod pages all that often as Athelbras and some others usually moderate and answer questions. Plus I know he is busy working on The Frontier so I think you would get a reply through PM faster than him seeing the comment you made.
  20. Well, the ENB itself does not really cause stuttering (unless you have a low-end rig) but ENBoost does. By setting ReduceMemoryUsage=true in your ENBLocal.ini many people including myself have reported severe stuttering, hitching, and lag. However, I don't think this happens on all machines. ENBoost is a recommended mod because it will greatly increase stability at the cost of performance. Also, you cannot use any part of ENB (including ENBoost) and use AA at the same time. I think this is due to the way injecting the D3D9.dll works. You can however Use ENB by itself without ENBoost and get the benefit of the shaders without the lag and stuttering of the ENBoost feature. Personally I use only an ENB without ENBoost or I just don't use ENB altogether.
  21. I would guess it has something to do with ENBoost as it already is managing memory. However, as ENB and ENBoost is mostly broken for Fallout 3 and New Vegas I don't use ENB anyway. In the ReadMe of Enhanced Shaders Tapioks does recommend removing the 4GB Enabler and only using ENBoost. In my testing I have noticed no difference either way; though it might make much more of a difference on a laptop. As Tapioks is also using a laptop. Yes the game will be more stable with the 4GB Enabler since the game can only natively use 2GB of RAM. Personally I would rather not use an ENB and just use the 4GB Enabler. ENBoost causes massive stuttering on my system and for many others.
  22. I am pretty sure it's from "Gun Runners Actually Run Guns".
  23. Ah I see what you are asking. Under the Display section: iMultiSample is Anti-Aliasing iMaxAnisotropy is Anisotropic Filtering And Under the Water section: bUseWaterDisplacements is Water Displacement I hope this helps! :)
  24. Hey Ess do you have a copy of the Generate Bash Tag Script or know where I can get the latest version? The one linked in the guide via Mega is now broken.
  25. Wow Ess you have only had 4 cups? If you are not seeing noises yet you have not had enough coffee. :P
