Just want to mention that https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/ can provide a ton of helpful, albeit more general, advice as far as PC building. Personally I wouldn't spend $150 on a case, you can get very good ones for 30-50% of that, just make sure it's roomy enough with good airflow. Also I doubt you'll need a 750W PSU unless you plan on using SLI, but it's good future-proofing.

I've been using v1.9 since an updated SKSE was made available without a ton of issues. I've had a few CTDs and infinite loading screens, but I think that's a problem unrelated to this patch.

Have you tried disabling/uninstalling non-STEP mods or even all mods to see if the crashes persist?

Thanks Gyro! We really appreciate the help. I'll take a look at the link you mention to see if it can't be spruced up a bit ;) EDIT: Actually, that link is a built in result of MediaWiki I think. Not something easily configured (at least in terms of appearance) I know you can change the displayed text of that link (see the SMW documentation, I'm on my phone), but I haven't tried formatting that text or using a template, it might work.

You should post that on the mod's page, this is a error/bug reports thread.

Downloading Steam hosted mods w/o Steam?
Farlo replied to m3dicat3d's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You don't need to worry about loose files, an ESP/BSA pair is required on Steam. I'll try to add it to the Wiki tonight. -
MO is definitely the more user-friendly of the two and a lot of the basic actions are simpler. The only major thing WB can do that MO can't is make bashed patches (Google it, I'm not familiar with them), and these aren't needed for STEP (yet). One of the only other minor differences is their file conflict view. Personally I prefer WB's presentation, but both views have their uses for hunting down problems or seeing which mod does what; it ultimately comes down to preference. Neither MO nor WB will update anything without a user's action (WB can't talk to the Nexus at all, MO will notify you of new files). WB is a bit slow to update and missing some helpful functions, but the functionality that is there is rock solid; as long as mods go in the Data folder it won't be outdated.

Downloading Steam hosted mods w/o Steam?

It's not perfect and requires manually checking the mod pages for updates (unless Steam has some other notifications I'm not aware of), but it can (and should IMO) be done. I should probably throw this up on the Wiki, but here's the steps: Subscribe to the mod in Steam.Make sure your INIs are set as read-only (otherwise the launcher with overwrite some of STEP's INI tweak suggestions).Launch the Skyrim launcher through Steam so that it will download the mod's files. As one might expect, it places the mods in the "Skyrim\Data" directory in the form of an ESP and BSA file of the same name.Find that ESP/BSA pair and copy them to another folder (it doesn't matter where).Unsubscribe from the mod.Install the copied files as you would any other mod. -
Made the change but forgot to refresh the guide, thanks for keeping on top of this :D

That would be awesome of them, I'm not holding my breath though :P

DROPPED Terrain Bump - Texture Pack (by SparrowPrince)

Good thing I removed it in v2.2.2a :P -
Tropical Skyrim -- A Climate Overhaul
Farlo replied to mothergoose729's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
That is so cool! Now he just needs to remove/edit all the dialogue that mentions the snow. I just made a new character but I definitely want to try this out, I'll have to see how it looks without that over-the-top ENB. -
Infinite Loading Screen in Whiterun
Farlo replied to Galahad's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I know poking the problem with a stick is asking for trouble, but is there any chance you could increment them a bit until you start getting CTDs again to determine just how much it needs to be lowered? -
I've updated the note and added it to the Dev thread. Perhaps we should rush a fix out as v2.2.2a so that people aren't missing out until next weekend.

DROPPED Not Another Colored Map Icon Mod (by Shiva64)
Farlo replied to Farlo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Perhaps we need to make that notice about BSAs a bit bigger? Thanks for the update Shiva, I've updated the mod page/note. -
Infinite Loading Screen in Whiterun
Farlo replied to Galahad's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It's when I load a particular save (exterior of Falkreath) without loading another one beforehand, so I think it's just a weird fluke. I haven't tried removing any mods but if I ever bother to diagnose it I will. -
Infinite Loading Screen in Whiterun
Farlo replied to Galahad's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I'm having a bit of a problem with infinite load screens as well and those tweaks aren't fixing it, any other suggestions? There really needs to be a debugger we can use for this bloody engine... -
Unfortunately that's the nature of a Wiki, anyone with an account can edit any page unless it's in the "STEP" namespace (as all the official STEP stuff is).

The advanced readme defines a mismatch as "Files which are present in the data directory, but which aren't identical to the selected package's version of those files." This can be fixed by right-clicking the header bar and selecting "Anneal all". Note that this usually happens if you edit a file WB has installed and will overwrite whatever is in the Data folder with the version in the archive. Off-topic: Could you please shorten your signature? It's quite long. You can also add your system specs to the Wiki and link to it instead of writing it out here.

I'd say uninstall it and then re-download the file just to be sure. If that doesn't work then you can always do it manually instead of using the wizard.

SKYRIMLE High Definition Ivy - 2K (by Josh Ezzell)
Farlo replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
As mentioned above, these textures are identical to those in Re-Defined Dungeons, so this mod isn't needed. -
Most missing texture issues are fairly simple to fix once the culprit is found, so lets conglomerate the issue into one thread. Any new threads about missing textures will be merged into this one.

ACCEPTED Improved Horse Step Sounds (by Crystan)
Farlo replied to Painstouch's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'm having this issue, quite frequently as well, around Markarth. Going to try playing without it for a while and see how often the Vanilla sounds drop off.
