ACCEPTED Improved Close Faced Helmets (by navida1)
Farlo replied to mothergoose729's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Tests are usually against Vanilla and STEP, so I'm not entirely surprised that we didn't catch this. I didn't know the mod tickets were ready for action, we should definitely try to drive people to that, although a lot of the general support will still have to go through the forums for now since (last I recall) comments for the tickets aren't working and working in the Wiki environment can take some getting used to. Some noob-friendly documentation for the data we track and how to access it would be fantastic, and I assume most of that falls into the realm of STEP:Main. -
To be honest I'd probably try to re-sell most of the winnings in these raffles, but if I have even a slim chance of winning one and all I have to do is waste Google's resources marking the email as spam that's fine with me :P Keep 'em coming and I'll post any I find as well. Good luck to anyone who enters one of these, gods know I need all the luck I can get :P

Well a new version has been released since I took those and the author says they were "completely redone". I don't see a huge difference in the texture files themselves, but I'm not sure how much it will differ in-game.
-
The two different mods are available as separate files and the note on the Wiki instructs users to only get the Ice Wraith file, I don't see a reason we shouldn't include it just because an unrelated mod is on the same page (why the author thought that was a good idea is beyond me however). As I mentioned on the Better Male Feet thread, they were stickied because I forgot to un-stick them after moving them from the MS forum. OK, sounds good, but I was wondering if we had any screen compares in-game for a real comparison. Vanilla looks good to me in game. And I am sure I am sounding like a broken record, but the persons posting these mods and the mod testers really need to flesh out the mod pages completely .... I posted comparisons, it's like the 4th post from the top...? I made these pages and thought I filled everything out correctly, what did I miss?

If you read the author's comments that rpsgc linked and the next few posts, we determined that the issue came from an incompatibility with any mod that changes the stats of the items (SkyRe in my case). It works fine under normal STEP conditions, although this conflict is something we need to keep track of and account for down the line with some kind of compatibility patch. -

I think I just forgot to un-sticky them after moving them from the MS forum.

ACCEPTED Skyrim -Community- Uncapper (by Elys)
Farlo replied to skwareballz's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
That version might only be for v1.9.26, so if you're still in the beta and are using v1.9.32 it might pop up that error. As the message says, you can edit that value to re-enable the mod; doing so should be harmless with such a minor update. -
Looks like some good new additions to test, but I'd like to make sure we get some of the currently testing mods off the list as well. In particular I'm looking at these: Skyrim Project Optimization - I'm been using it for a while and have visited a decent percentage of the list of optimized cells without any issue.Even Better Quest Objectives - Always nice to have more information and I haven't seen any issues with it yet (mostly main quest and Dark Brotherhood)Shrines HD or alternatives - I'm not a fan of Golden Gods Shrines in most places (potential new mod?)and think that even reverting to Vanilla would be an improvement. Overall I'm leaning towards Shrines HD, but for #2 and #6 (in the first image, I can't remember their names >.>) I prefer The Divine Shrines. As for new stuff I think three obvious choices are Skyrim Improved Puddles, InterfaceMod - Better Dialogue, and Point The Way.
-
It's actually not changing directions, it's being removed. Point The Way changes a few of the signs around, although I couldn't tell you why in this example, you'd have to look at the map. The post definitely looks better than before. The signs blend in a lot better as well, the current ones look like Vanilla signs with a not-so-fantastic paint job.

Ah, it's probably SkyRe then; I'll confirm tonight. -
I don't even remember making the edit. We should not be referencing versions of mods anyway OK, I see why. Changed to v4.x Moved it to the notes section, Baseline should only be used to distinguish different performance options.

I've having a bit of a problem with this mod. I first noticed yesterday that none of the guard masks had proper eye holes and seemed to be using the Vanilla meshes. Today I also discovered that your head disappears when wearing a Dwarven helmet: (kind of hard to see in this image) Uninstalling the mod fixes everything of course, since you don't see your head with the Vanilla meshes anyways. I re-installed the mod but left the ESPs (base and Dawnguard) disabled on accident and found that the helmet disappears entirely in this case: After re-enabling the ESPs my helmet returned but I continued to be headless. Mind you I'm not playing with just STEP, but none of the other mods should affect this at all. A confirmation of this from someone running only STEP would be great and I'll try to do some additional testing tomorrow. -
Unfortunately a screenshot's not very helpful. What'd be best is to capture some video of it happening. Since it's related to grass, I'd first recommend re-installing Skyrim Flora Overhaul and re-checking all the INI Tweaks that STEP recommends, something might have been thrown out of whack. If that doesn't reveal the problem, try running the game as Vanilla and enabling a few mods at a time to track down a culprit.

I just started Skyrim up and noticed that my fairly light-skinned character had a very dark skinned head... I'm wondering if this is a related issue to you being made a giant; perhaps something's throwing random values for character details. I'm not sure how, but by restarting the game after re-installing an unrelated mod it reverted back to normal. Not sure what to make of this one or what could cause it except I installed the v1.9.32 beta and updated the unofficial patches earlier today. If anyone would like to help test this theory, screenshot all your character settings (using the showracemenu console command) with the current v1.9.26 and then update to the beta v1.9.32 and screenshot the settings again for comparison. I'll try to do some more testing with this tomorrow as well.

What ath3nos said is the most important part of the evaluation for a mod like this, so make the screenshots good. That means good quality images, both large and not compressed, with no ENB or other post-processor with a relatively simple background where the armor stands out. I suggest you check out Review Studio to get some really clean screenshots. I have a custom Review Studio ESP with a grey room as well if you can't get a decent shot in any of those (still need the original mod though); I might just upload it to the Nexus... Take a look at the Form:Mod section and its subsections on the Data Dictionary page. That lists all the technical information we track on the Wiki, the more of that you can answer definitively the better. Obviously for a texture/mesh replacer the main thing to examine is whether the textures are optimized.
-
I haven't noticed any yet, but keep an eye out and make sure you update all your mods. I know all of Arthmoor's stuff got an update for v1.9, others will follow I'm sure. Weird, but at least it was an easy fix :P

Editing the Skyrim.ini general to skip intro does not work
Farlo replied to humanman's question in General Skyrim LE Support
The intro this disables is the little Bethesda logo video that plays before the main menu comes up, set it to "1" and launch the game to see what I mean. This tweak has nothing to do with the actual game. If you're looking to bypass the lengthy Helgen sequence I recommend you try Live Another Life, I've been using it for a long time without issue. -
Skyrim is very finicky so it's hard to pin down very complex issues like this. I spend a hell of a lot of time keeping WB clean and organized. I'm not saying my game is without issue, I'm currently getting the infinite loading screen problem every once and a while. When it decides to happen RAM usage will shoot up to ~3.3GB. I doubt it matters, but I've been using the beta since it was released (currently 1.9.32) and quite a few mods haven't been updated yet. When I have more time I'll try to investigate further.
-
I'll see about making a proper BCF/Wizard for Soul Gems Differ, I'm currently learning how to make FOMOD installers for another mod.
-
Apparently there's a new beta version 1.9.32.0 (original was 1.9.26.0) but I can't find any documentation for it, anyone know what's up?
-
I can't think of a good reason why we're not just using v5.x, searching these forums hasn't turned up any reasons either. EDIT: It appears that Z added the note on Feb. 3rd.
-
Since the ESPs have the same name once you install the update the original will just get overwritten like any other file, there's no particular need to disable it.

It's official: Skyrim 1.9 update is released
Farlo replied to WilliamImm's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
As many others have reported, I've been using v1.9 with no issues that I can attribute to the update itself. Just stay on top of the individual mod updates and you should be fine with the new version. If you do find any bugs or errors related to v1.9 please report them on the Bug Reports thread.
